Mute voice guidance near home/work
Please have an option to mute the voice guidance in a radius of [X] distance from my home, and/or from work. Alerts should not be muted by this setting.
It's annoying that I have to listen to voice guidance near my home -- I know how to get from my house to the main road, thank you very much! But turning the voice off and on again during the drive (during every drive!) is a nuisance and a safety risk.
Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

When I'm very near but a few turns away from work or home it would be nice if Waze would say something like "You've got it from here" so I don't have to hear the last few turns when routes are well worn and obvious. I'm not suggesting this for everywhere, just your well traveled favorites. For instance, when I get off the highway traveling to/from work there are few options and Waze knows I've done this many times before. I don't need it to tell me those last turns. Let me keep listening to music.

We do not want to play with the phone while driving, so we plan the route when we leave home, but we know the first minutes/kilometers. So a nice feature would let as get voice directions only from a certain point because when we know the way and the voice directions are on it's annoying.

When I have Waze running and navigating somewhere and start to use "OK Google" or any Google speech recognition in any app, including Waze, Waze might start speaking to give me navigation directions. When this happens the speech recognition captures what Waze says and interrupts what I'm trying to say.
It would be great if Waze could recognize that my phone is in this state and automatically mute navigation audio.

I would suggest that this only work for common destinations, like home. Have you ever been on your way home and intended to stop for milk? But the car just seems to drive itself home. I often use Waze not so much for the directions, but for the reminder of my true destination.

I strongly agree with this suggestion. I know how to get home or to work. I don't need voice prompts on this common route. I would only like to hear voice prompts if there is a traffic jam and Waze can find me a faster way to my location.

Waze already has an 'alerts only' feature. Just tap the speaker icon and select the one with the exclamation point.

Give us the ability to mute directions for routine trips to work and back home but leave notifications. Daily trips to work and back home don't need directions but of course we want to keep the notifications. Allowing Waze to plot the trip gives us heads up on alerts and issues that you might otherwise miss.

Sometimes there are parts of the audio instructions. Add mute button inactive directions to mute audio as needed.

I would like Waze to actually respect the mute button. Why do sounds come back on after a week or so of not using the app? Who thought that was a good idea.
I never, ever want this app to make a sound. Ever.

If Waze takes you the main, preferred route to Work or Home or any other preset location, say "proceed via your preferred route" and then mute all subsequent guidance until a) a diversion occurs or b) a change in route or warnings occur. When you return to your normal route after a diversion say "continue via your preferred route".

Let the mute toggle on my iphone mute the waze app. It is too many steps to change it within the app and too complicated to do while driving.

YES! There is only one route through my neighborhood, and I don't need to have the 4 back-to-back left/right/left/right full streetnames read to me every day. My Waze doesn't shut up for the last 2 minutes of my commute home, which is annoying when I'm listening to music or podcasts with my phone.
The same could be said for arriving at the office as well. -

Waze voice prompting is fantastic...when giving me needed information that doesn't interrupt a conversation with a passenger or a podcast over Stitcher. But the information value is pretty low when I'm two blocks from home. I'd rather listen to my podcast interrupted. If I could tell Waze, "hey Waze, I'm close enough to home that you don't need to tell me to turn left here", that would make it a much smarter product. Which is saying a lot, because it's pretty smart already!

Make "mute turn by turn" an available default.

Most of the time I like to have the turn-by-turn voice guidance to be turned on, but when I'm listening to music at the same time, I would like to be able to quickly/easily mute the turn-by-turn guidance. I would love to see a toggle on the main screen to mute turn-by-turn directions.

I love the navigation ability, but would it be possible to start and end the turn-by-turn navigation once the user is a certain distance from their "home?" Or have the navigation start once the user get to a major highway. Have the Nav voice start with "Proceed to Route 95 South" or whatever interstate is nearby. And once there proceed with normal navigation. And once navigating home, have it turn-by-turn shut off when within 3-5 miles from home. Since most folks know all the roads withing 5 miles of their house. Its a little annoying to have the machine tell you to turn on to your own street. Its picky, but it would improve the app greatly.
