A true support for bilingual countries
I noticed that Waze doesn't approach bilingual countries just like GMM does.
For example, in GMM, we can write multiple names for the same road in 2 different languages and based on the user's current phone language chosen, the map changes accordingly.
Unfortunately that doesn't happen in Waze, we are stuck in 1 language only, even if we add "Alternative" name.
Here in Kuwait, we use both Arabic and English (Even street signs are written in both Arabic and English) , in Google Maps we are having no problems since most of the roads in the map are written in both Arabic and English. But in Waze, it is way different.
This is causing problems since most of the locals here prefer the map in Arabic, but also there are people who use the map in English.
My suggestion is:
In WME, when selecting a segment, we should have at least 2 fields to name the selected segment, there also has to be a drop-down menu to choose the wanted language.
The user's map should display the correct language based on the user's language settings in his/her phone.
Since bilingual support is a bigger issue affecting not just the WME, this is a company-wide decision that we will bring to the relevant teams.

You've heard of the saying: If you don't confront your fears, they will grow with time, For years, I've been hearing that the issue is very significant and requires a major breakthrough, but if ignored, it will remain significant and won't diminish in our eyes.
Imagine if we had started this back then? We might be asking for other features now, wouldn't we, my friend? For seven years, we've been demanding and haven't seen anything. Finally, we're not asking for overnight change, so let's start step by step until we reach our goal together.
And as usual, if they need our help we will help from our ❤️

I'm certain Waze is quite aware of the need for this feature. They experience this themselves as well on a daily basis. I just think you're underestimating how big the impact of this change actually is within Waze. It's not just as simple as adding a property somewhere, but it requires making changes in basically all map-related functions of Waze. Especially adjusting the map tiles is a major undertaking and would require all clients to be able to handle (or at least ignore) this new data.
That said, I do fully agree that this is an important feature for many countries and it should be given a proper priority instead of being considered too big a risk to add.

Honestly, this feature is what loses the widespread appeal. Nowadays, communities have become more integrated, with many countries speaking multiple languages and having multiple communities. Is it difficult to be unfair to the country's people or to unfairly treat these communities? Or even mistreat new tourists coming for tourism, who are the most in need of the program due to their lack of knowledge in the country they are visiting. Therefore, it is very important to support bilingualism to increase the spread of the program. In our community, we suffer greatly, and even if we want to change the language used in the map, it is considered a major challenge that takes years to accomplish! In the end, the editor is the one who will do it, not the company. We just ask you to provide the tools for that.
For example:
Add a field under the street name (containing the second language).
And when selecting this language from the application, the available names in this field are retrieved. I think it's a simple matter and doesn't pose any challenge. You just consider it a big challenge, but I know individual developers who do this work.So how do you want to be convinced of this idea?

It always surprised me that Waze, coming from a trilingual country (with each language using different writing systems) did not support this from day one.

I support this; we need to be able to see names in standard alphabet, just like on GMaps.

The world has many languages and also many alphabets. But when naming streets etc. WME allows just one of those. Consequently only one is shown in the client. Please make it possible to enter streetnames etc in multiple alphabets. And in the client to choose between them. This will be a great option in countries with multiple languages/alphabets

Add option that user can choose map street and place name to be show in language that he want

Set an option to write road and places names at least in two Local & English languages in WME name panel.
With this option tourists can choose English to understand road names and places with no difficulty.

Support POI names and street addresses in multiple languages for a single country.
Some countries out there de facto or de jure have 2+ official languages. So it would be great if map editors could specify language-specific names (not just "alternative" names) and if clients could prioritize names in chosen interface language over other variants.
For example Belarus has 2 official languages: Belarusian and Russian. And I'd prefer to see Belarusian street names while using Belarusian interface, and Russian names - when using the Russian one.
