  1. Smoke on Road

Users should have the possibility to report a common danger in the road: Smoke. It can be from wildfires as described in another suggestion, however roads are not necessarily closed.
We have dangers like "ice on road" or "snow", however those are never used in countries where winter never gets below 0°C (or is highly unlikely). On the contrary, every year there are fires causing road hazards with visibility dropping considerably.

  2. Tell the editor why they can't edit Far Lanes

If you're below the required editor level to edit Far Lanes, then the Far Lanes interface is visible to you when editing Lane Guidance, but it's dimmed out - and there's no explanation why. For example, in Australia, Far Lanes requires Level 4 or higher - but nowhere in the Waze Map Editor does it mention this. For the user editing, the Far Lanes interface just appears greyed out for them for no apparent reason.

All that needs to be added is some kind of message that says "You need to be a higher level to edit Far Lanes" whenever…

  4. Combined Red Light & Speed Cameras

The UK now has a growing number of red light cameras that also double-up as speed cameras. These should be able to be captured and displayed/warned as having both functions to drivers.

  6. "Check and try again"

Save error suggestions should provide useful, actionable info to the editor to help them know what to do to solve the problem.

"Check and try again" isn't helpful. Check what?

  7. New road type needed between ST to OR

    Passive road type

Passive mean the penalties attribute doesn't need to use unpaved option.
And MAY use penalties state similar to PLR

Most of the road actually vehicles worthy but not qualified as Street (ST) or Off-road/Not maintained (OR supposed for 4X4)

Most of it drivable and may be the most important route for local or user that knew the road.

Why this passive RT needed? Majority of user not even know the unpaved switch exists,
so do to differentiate the unpaved segment shown in apps, this creates complexity for the user to use Waze very well.
    Even with unpaved…

  8. Expand original category of a new place

Today, when adding a new place, we cannot assign to it a specific sub-category at once (except sub-categories of Car Services). We have to assign a generic category, then remove it and either enter the sub-category directly, or add again the proper category, expand it, and select the sub-category from the list. I suggest enabling expanding of the originally assigned category similar to categories added later.

  9. Please can you introduce sub and sub-sub folders etc. for saved places.

It would be great to be able to have and categorise sub folders with labels such as restaurants, hospitals, friends, clients etc.. These might be further nested to a higher level by area, county or country for example.
It is really very cumbersome to scroll through hundreds of saved places to find the one I want. When I travel abroad I have different countries places all mixed together in one long list. With nested sub folders, finding a particular saved place could be done in mere seconds.

  10. Holiday based turn/traffic restrictions on Japan

Traffic/turn restrictions for holidays have not yet been implemented in Japan.
    Please support Japanese national holidays.

If Sunday becomes a national holiday, Monday falls under the holiday in lieu, etc. There are detailed rules. The dates that fall under holidays are listed in the following law
    https://laws.e-gov.go.jp/law/323AC1000000178/

Similar proposals outside of Japan have already been implemented and should be less burdensome.

  11. Excluding Specific Road Types in Polygons Based Events

I would like to propose an improvement to the "Polygons Based Events" by adding an option to exclude certain types of roads, similar to the school zone alerts.

In my case, I want to set up a PBE for major roadworks, but a highway crosses at a lower level and will be notified of this event even though it is not affected.

  12. Automatically add street when adding a point location

As a waze level 2 editor, when adding a residential place, I'd like for the street to be automatically pre-filled with the closest segment in the map.

I have been adding a lot of residential places in my zone and I have to copy the street name and paste in each place I add. This process would be more expedite if street name is filled with the closest segment on the map and would avoid errors of places in streets different than the one they are put into.

  13. Validation workflow & access to all functions

    Hello,

I'm a current level 3 Area Manager and every day I have to deal with bottlenecks because I don't have the necessary level to make changes.
So I have to find a L4 or L5 to do it, explain it to them and get the result.
This is very time-consuming and somewhat archaic these days.

I'd like to suggest the following:
Be able to give all editors access to all functions or perhaps from L2 or L3 if we want there to be a minimum of editing experience. As well as adding a validation workflow for functions that currently…

  14. Lane guidance: Make "View Only" and "View and Hear" behaviors consistent for "continue straight" lanes

In WME we have two options if we want to force "continue" lane guidance to be surfaced to the user - view only, and view and hear (or more recently, with and without audible instructions).

Aside from the obvious difference in whether or not an audible instruction is issued to "use the Left 3 lanes to continue straight ..." or only a visual instruction, there's another more subtle behavior change that is not always welcome - namely, if you use the "View and Hear" option, it is additionally treated as a "Continue" TIO (turn instruction override). This means that, if…

  15. Better support for Rural map editors

I live in a VERY rural area. Quite often, I'll be driving but not get EA credit because I didn't have cell service. I can literally drive for 50+mi without any cell coverage. I drove 530 miles two days ago and maybe got credit for half of it.

I'd like it if map editors would have the ability to turn on some sort of feature in the app that saves their location history until cell service is restored. Also, as I have seen others suggest, a larger EA radius from a given drive would be very helpful out here as…

  16. Consolidate the two WME suggestion boxes

Please consolidate the two Uservoice-based WME suggestion boxes. There has been a "Waze Map Editor" subcategory of the "Waze Suggestion Box" for at least a few years, and due to default links and navigation that is still an easier suggestion box to find than this one. Or, is there a reason to have two different suggestion boxes for WME?

  18. Optimize Road Shield Display on all Live Map Zoom Levels

Different zoom levels of Livemap appears to display road shields differently some of the "higher" zoom levels shows so many shields that it is distracting and does not look polished. All zoom levels should be optimized to group shields so that the map isn't littered with shields.

    Please see example screenshots

  19. Mark segments as "slip lanes" that delay voice instructions

At the moment, ramp segments generally delay voice instructions until you have merged or turned onto the segments at the end of the ramp, such as a freeway or highway.

Australia and some other countries utilise "slip lanes" at some intersections, which is basically a left turn (for countries that drive on the left) that does not use the main intersection.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slip_lane

When a slip lane is mapped on Waze, we usually implement the turn instruction where the driver enters the slip lane, as that is where they need to be told to turn. However, this can mean that Waze…
