  1. Rerouting optional

In the beginning of a ride, the app will let you chose between several routes. However, even if you purposely selected a certain route, it will automatically reroute you, if it found a "faster" route. Sometimes though, you do not want that because you chose a certain route on purpose. Unfortunately, other than in Google Maps (where you get a notification that a faster route was found that you can dismiss) there is no option in Waze to reject such rerouting. This can sometimes even lead to dangerous situations, like if you get rerouted through an unsafe neighborhood.

  2. SAFEST not FASTEST route

This might not be relevant to users in very safe countries, but if you live in or travel to some South American or African countries (or even in some districts of the US), you do not necessarily want to get the fastest route, but the SAFEST one – omitting dangerous areas (like gang zones). As a concrete example, I was driving through Rio de Janeiro and Waze suddenly tried to reroute me through a Favela, because it was supposedly a few minutes "faster" (something, travel guides and the State Department even explicitly warn about). In fact, there were already news…

  3. Schedule speed limit changes

Allow editors to schedule speed limit changes. For example during roadworks there is often a reduced speed limits. It would be useful to be able to set, in the editor, a start and finish date for these reduced speed limits. This would prevent an editor changing the speed limit and forgetting to change it back. This could be tied into tile builds so the edit is made in time for that days tile build.

    //

In Colombia, addresses are structured by first indicating the street…

  5. Türkiye: Integrate official Ministry of Interior radar, checkpoint, and average-speed corridor data

Waze should consider integrating official public traffic-enforcement data for Türkiye from the Turkish Ministry of Interior:

    https://www.icisleri.gov.tr/iller-arasi-radar-ve-kontrol-noktasi-uygulama-sayilari

This official page allows drivers to view the number of speed corridors, radar controls, and police/gendarmerie control points on selected intercity routes. According to the Ministry page, the data covers traffic applications carried out by Police and Gendarmerie units on the selected route and is refreshed every 30 minutes.

Adding this data to Waze would be very useful for drivers in Türkiye, especially on intercity routes. The goal would not be to help drivers avoid the law, but to improve road-safety awareness and…

  6. Car Play - Heads up Display Integration

Google maps and Apple maps has this feature.

With my car, I have a heads up display feature.
The direction arrows and lane arrows will show up on the heads up display.

I'm not sure what tech this is actually linking into to do this, but I would love this feature.

  8. Lane closures

The possibility for us editors to close lanes on for example highways.

We'd indicate which lane is closed and a RoadShield like box would appear showing arrows so that users can change lanes early to the non close ones.

  10. Posibility to add type of plug and charge speed for EVCS from the app.

Costa Rica is not on the list of countries where Waze has implemented the features for EVCS.
Here are more than 1000 charging stations between L1, L2 and L3 and we have added almost all of them in Waze manually.
We have to introduce all the characteristics of each charging point in the app from the WME.
It would be great if it can be done from the app. Like adding plug type or charging speed. From the application it is not yet possible.

  12. voice controll over waze

Voice controll when waze is on and the voice controll is on as well.
Just say "Waze danger", it will ask what kind of danger, you say on road it confirm you say after that car stop, or wheather, fog... etc...
It recognise the item and ask to confirm, you say yes and you made a sign without to watch and manual input the danger.

  15. Multimodal Routing

Traffic navigation isn't limited to cars. Waze could expand to include cycling, walking, and even public transportation options. By incorporating real-time data on bike lanes, pedestrian paths, and bus schedules, Waze could become a one-stop shop for navigating any mode of transportation in a city.

  17. Suburb borders that add suburbs to segments automatically

Right now, every time we make a new segment on the map, we have to assign it to a suburb manually. Not only is this tedious, but it's prone to mistakes by editors, especially when editing near a suburb border.

But, in many countries, suburbs have a fixed area, and all roads inside that suburb's area will be part of that suburb.

If map editors were able to simply define the borders of each suburb in a state or country, then Waze could automatically assign any segment to the correct suburb, just by checking which suburb's area the segment falls…

  19. Create a separate field for road numbers

Whilst the addition of road shields has been excellent, I do think there should be a separate road number category with the road shield only applying to that instead of the street/alternate names. This will allow for a more accurate result with any addresses that are on roads that have a designated number as well as keeping consistency as sometimes the same address can apply to two different road types.

There had previously been discussions in the UK Waze community Discord regarding road numbers and only using them in the alternate address field. Currently this proposal is on hold due…

  20. d Pedestrian Crossing Zone alert

    Hello Waze Team,

I would like to suggest adding a new feature to the list of alerts in the Waze Map Editor (WME): Pedestrian Crossing Zone.
This feature is very important to notify drivers when approaching pedestrian crossings, especially in crowded areas or near hospitals and markets.

It is surprising that this alert is not yet available in the hazards list, despite its significant importance for traffic safety and saving lives.
I kindly request you to consider adding this feature in future updates of the Map Editor, so it can also appear in the app as a Pedestrian Crossing Zone…
