In the time it takes to drop 5 URs, one can provide a brief yet succinct and helpful description of the problem.

Included in that "report fixed" is a link to the location and your entire Report conversation on Waze Map. When on that map, turn on the Map Issues layer (layers "sheets" icon is near the upper right side of the screen). There is also a small map in your Waze App inbox that shows the location.

It would be far better if you were proactive and report the road potholes to your local government agency.

Agreed. I am told they are reworking the whole reporting feature in the app.

it is enough to assist with traffic issues on your side of the highway. Less distracted driving.

    Thanks

if you summarize this information in a Map Report that helps local volunteers to update the map. -or- join your local Waze community to inform the team -or- post a note in the Waze Forum thread for your state /country.

(google Waze Wiki (your country / state to find links to the community)

This would be invaluable help for the volunteers and fellow Waze drivers!

GPS apps don't want to add to distracted driving. Alerts for most reports appear 1/2 mile (1km) from the reported spot - it's better to report the issue (whether a hazard report or a map issue (wrong address, road closure, turn not allowed) as close to the problem as possible.

    Thanks

As a volunteer who regularly responds to user reports - it would greatly help us if users add sufficient details to the original report instead of us having to ask for it sometimes many days later.

The WME Map Editor screen doesn't show reports instantaneously -- it may be a couple hours, and as we all have regular (paying) jobs, it may take several days to respond.

I agree with Drew's comment: the Waze server should apply fuzzy logic to analyze the initial report to determine if it contained enough information, then prompt the user to add details at the end of the drive. Or at a stop light.

You already can "thumbs down" a police report.

Waze does not map traffic lights. They are re-working the reporting feature to be hands-free.
