Hey,
Please note we're changing the status of this suggestion to Currently Not Planned since we finalized our plans for 2024 and this idea won't be implemented this year.
We hope to include it in our plans for later down the line.
Thanks!

It would appear that it is Android Auto who for some reason will not allow the 'Road Blocked' feature to be used. If this is the case, then as a workaround, give us the option to either make a detour from that point of the planned route or give us the option to choose a particular road that we want to avoid (the blocked road). We don’t have to report it as being blocked. It’s just telling Waze and Android Auto that we don’t want to use that particular road. I can't understand why, after over 6 years since the original post, no one at Waze has been able to come up with a solution to this.

Android Auto policy, for some reason, does not allow users of Waze to report a blocked road, although it is possible when using Waze on phone screen. As a workaround, would it be possible to introduce a change route option similar to the change route option on Garmin devices. With a Garmin Sat Nav, to avoid an obstacle, you can choose to detour by a distance of 1/2 mile, 2 miles or 5 miles, or you can choose a particular road you want to avoid. You don’t have to report it as being blocked. It’s just telling Waze that you don’t want to go down that particular road. Surely, this method would not conflict with any rules which Android Auto has regarding reporting a road as being blocked. It’s essential to have an option like this available on Android Auto, to prevent sometimes being sent round in circles repeatedly by Waze to try and access the same blocked road.

I use Waze most of the time but find the absence of a re-route function in Android Auto on the car screen a major flaw with the app. I always have my Garmin Sat Nav in the car ready to set up for occasions like this. My Garmin has a re-route function which guides me past a closed or blocked road. Can't understand why this issue has not been addressed yet as it has been 4 years since the original post.

You could try the app 'Send to Navigation'. It's available from the Google Play Store. You share it to this app, then from this app to Waze.

Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

If you go into the Android Auto settings, you will be able to change the Driver seat location and choose which side you want the Navigation to be.

I agree with everything the original poster has said. Users have been asking for this on several other posts for many years, but Waze doesn't seem to show any interest in doing anything about it. Android Auto and CarPlay are probably responsible for this. However, surely during all this time Waze could have come up with a workable alternative option. As an alternative for example, adding a detour feature in situations like this to reroute drivers around a closure or obstruction. Garmin and TomTom Sat Navs have these features and they work very well, so why not Waze? Consequently, this would not involve reporting a 'Road Closure' which is what Android Auto and CarPlay appear not to want to introduce for some reason.
