Waze is very dumb on selecting the best route because it only uses a deterministic fastest trip time criteria to select the best route. As Stanley said, sometimes someone is willing to take 2 - 5 minutes more time on a route, but with a much higher average speed. Therefore there should be two improvements: 1) include into settings the preferenbe between fastest route or higher average speed; 2) every time Waze calculates a route provide another with fastest speed but higher travel time, so we can choose what we prefer.
