Hey,
Please note we're changing the status of this suggestion to Not right now, since we finalized our plans for 2023 and this idea won't be implemented this year.
We hope to have it included in our plans for later years and will keep you posted.

In case anyone is looking for another workaround, I just found that if I tap the three dots next to a favorited location and then select "info" I can plan a future trip. It should be incorporated back into the standard search function instead of hidden so far back in the menu, though. Not sure why that was removed from the UI!
