Increase police warning distance
Waze users are warned of speed traps or police presence only about 600 feet ahead of time. This is far too late of a warning. With a clear line of sight, law enforcement can detect speeders at 1-2 miles out.
By the time the Waze warning pops up, you could have already been detected.
This feature – while very well intentioned and thought out – is useless with so little warning.
What we are aiming to do here is speed based alerters.

more like a mile ahead would be great

I can't believe this hasn't been addressed yet. This needs to be fixed asap. You are having drivers panic-braking because the alert is coming in the last moment or too late. Are you really this oblivious to a problem that is so easily fixable????

The object of waze isn’t to go out & break the law. If you’re driving 10+ over depending on the State you can get a reckless driving ticket , arrested, & or have your vehicle towed. As long as you’re not breaking the law by speeding then it shouldn’t matter when you’re warned. Unless you’re the type of person that prefers to put ppl & their families in danger. Just takes one mistake to lose control while speeding which can lead to manslaughter or permanent injuries. The only reason why i like the warning is that it means there may end up being slowdowns from ppl getting themselves back to being closer to the speed limit.

v.4.88 and earlier would display in tenths of a mile how far to the hazard (Police, Object On Road, Etc.). The latest version no longer shows this. Also, you could touch another icon (say a yellow triangle) on the map and it would a) say what it was and b) how far away it was from your current position. This is not possible now with the later versions. Some blogs were stating this was requested by law enforcement but I tend to doubt that. Not sure if this was intentional or an oversight but it's keeping me (and some others) using older versions (giving up the Coolwalk split screen for a version that works). Lastly, not related, the later versions have a GPS bug for it's current position yielding constant zooming in and out.

Please add an option to select how far from a hazard that a notification is triggered.
The default is too short for some alerts eg "Police Reported Ahead" -

Self explanatory.

Be able to change radius of when you are alerted of cops. Instead of alerting 500-600m before, be able to change it to 1km, 2km, etc

It would be nice to have two time alert for camera. First 1km before, second 300m.

One Mile warning is the biggest improvement you could make to an already cool app!

Anything of this kind, is greater than nothing. I’m grateful as it is, to have Waze.

Definitely, the ability to customize the distance the alerts are given to suit the driver's personal requirements. It also may be different for different types of alerts. For me, for example, I would prefer that a "Red light camera ahead" warning was provided much closer to the intersection than it is currently, as I find with the current warning distance, I can have 2 or maybe 3 sets of lights between me and the "red light camera" set of lights, and I have forgotten there is a camera there by the time I reach the affected intersection.

it's necessary for the user to configure the warning distance for different types of reports

I agree that alerts should be given at different distances, but time/speed dependent. I see little benefit to changing police reports as the majority of the time from my driving the cops are no longer there. I don't think the police report is meant to benefit speeders.

Are you still there Waze...??

Let waze warn you about a speed camera and a Red Light camera at the distance of your choice and have it warn you at least twice one before getting to it and another as a reminder when you are at least 300 feet from it

maybe set the distance dependant on the density of the roads / road speed limit / road type? For Freeways, leave at 1km, on Local Streets 100 m.

I don't need increased distance and I rarely do the limit - I just pay attention to the traffic ahead.
