By default compass is displayed on screen tap.
To always show it go to Settings – Map display – Quick access – Always show. In Map display settings it is also possible to lock North. -
Mark myself as "Help required"
A possibility to mark myself as "Help required", in case of an accident, out of fuel, flat tyre or other things.

A button for HOV or non-HOV
There should be a button to tell Waze whether the car is in the HOV lane. 1), it would help Waze better determine traffic speed since it wouldn't average Wazer's in the HOV lanes with the speeds of those driving slower. 2), the Map would/could show the average speed of HOV or non HOV speeds. A Wazer in the HOV lane could really impact the accurate speed average shown (and vice versa).

Show compass at all times
Show the compass at all times on Android. This is helpful for me to keep my bearings. Also useful for learning a new area and at night.

If I need help for example in case when my car stuck or I can not start the car; or in case my car is broken or ran out of fuel..

Make car icon customizable
Make the little car icon on the screen while I'm navigating customizable. I'd like to be able to make it look like my car...starting with my car's color. You could have a small number of car types (truck, van, sedan, sports car), or a more elaborate library of make/model/year (I vote for 2010 Chevy Camaro!)

Siri integration
Not sure if it's possible, but if there is an API to integrate with Siri to make navigation via voice commands that much easier.

Add the ability to map parking lots and parking areas
The map should contain markings for parking lots and parking areas available in an area, so that upon arrival the client can request to show all available parking solutions within a specified radius.

Temporary HOV/Carpool lanes
If I'm in a 2+ vehicle, it would be nice if a route preferred HOV lanes. In my area, there is a "temporary" HOV lane which has a different direction in morning and evening. (See US-93 between Boston and Braintree MA)
20 votesThank you for your suggestion! As you may know, Waze offers HOV routing for taxis. To change your vehicle type go to Settings > Vehicle type. There are currently no plans to add more HOV options.

Adjustable Auto-Zoom
Why the "+" and "-" buttons are not available when in "auto zoom" mode ?
I'd like to be auto zoom, but I'd like to set my own "range" with the + and - button

Avoiding roads
Allow us to avoid certain roads alongs routes, (toll roads, construction, traffic)
396 votesGreat news. Setting to avoid toll roads is already available globally. It is also possible to mark dangerous zones on map editor level, so the app could warn you if your route goes through one of dangerous zones.

Pause playback during audio alerts (for audiobooks)
Currently the Waze sounds turn the volume of whatever is playing the background down, causing me to miss words of audiobooks. Add an option for "Audiobook mode" to pause playback during Waze alerts/navigation voice.

re-route based on upcoming traffic conditions / congestions
While waze does show upcoming traffic condition on one's route it does not provide facility to automatically re-route the traveler around traffic congestion using surface streets or alternate highway/freeway.
This is essential to optimizing waypoint ordering/priority:
This ought be available in other-than a binary toggle (yes or no). While yes and no are suitable broad options, waze ought provider finer grained control of re-routing as it does now (faster or shorter). These should include
(1) time windows
(2) zones / areas
(3) specific roads / highways / freeways
(4) density of other Wazers
(5) using either / both wazer…

route overview
Please add an option to see either a birds-eye overview or a turn-by-turn list (or both?) of the route Waze is taking me on.
Sometimes I know I want to avoid a particular road. So when Waze plots a route for me at the start, I can review the proposed alternate routes and choose one. But if I need to deviate from that route to make a side errand maybe, Waze will recalculate my route on the fly, going back to its #1 preferred route. Set destination and arrival time and alert me when it's time to leave
Based on current conditions, alert me 5-15 minutes before I need to leave so that I can arrive at a set time.

audio alerts for everything
It would be nice to have audio alerts for all activity in waze. If there is a traffic jam ahead alert me vocally, same for car on shoulder etc.
I say this because I ride a motorcycle and am not able to view my screen (also it would take my attention from the bike). I would like to be audibly alerted of everything such as speed cams, cops, blah blah :)
