Add an "Avoid traffic" routing option
I don't mind adding a few minutes to my trip if it means I can keep moving and not get stuck in traffic. Waze already has the data to make this type of routing possible.

In my neighbourhood, there is a street where there is a traffic jam every day to get to the highway. There are 2 other routes that are just as short an nobody uses them. Is there a possibility to change the algoritm so that it recommends these other routes easier when there is a traffic jam?

I commute over an hour each way every weekday. There are MANY times when I hit a jam. If I just knew the area better, I could jump off the highway, weave my way through some neighborhoods and circumvent the backup. Enter the "Get Me Outta Here!" button. This button understands that I need an immediate detour and calculates some best routes, even through neighborhoods.

I would love for Waze to have a passive mode for familiar routes. I have to drive through downtown to get to/from work and 90% of the time the route is the same, but with a lot of interchanges. Waze is very chatty, it reads the whole sign. This can get really annoying in the middle of good song or TED talk. A mode that only gives you non-turn notifications AND route changes would be awesome. I've missed a route change more than once because my brain tends to tune out Waze on my commute.
Thanks!

Has anything been done on this one? If so, I need to know how to access this mode. Right now, I'm thinking about just not using Waze anymore.

This would be great! I'd rather pick a slow road that keeps moving over a fast road with a major bottle neck.

Often I'm in a traffic jam and Waze will recommend I come off at a junction and then immediately back on, using it to skip the traffic. Not being a terrible person, I ignore this instruction when I notice it happening as I'm aware that it will make the jam I'm in worse for everybody else and clog up connecting roads. Unfortunately I'm sometimes not staring at the map or it is a big junction and I don't notice that it's going to make me come back in so I would appreciate a toggle that stops Waze leaving and rejoining traffic before any new major junctions. There are probably some other antisocial driving habits that Waze could be preventing too but I can't think of them at the moment.

Agree. Fucking stop pointing to the worst traffic route.

I would like to propose a 'keep moving mode'.
Often I see Waze routing myself on a congested road, while there are plenty of little local roads that would get me around that. Obviously I only know these roads in my local are, but Waze should know about them. Even if it takes a little bit longer, it should re-route me through those settlement streets.
So the mode would:
* keep you moving, even if it would take longer or be farther
* utilize small local streetsThis would be especially handy on motorcycles where sitting in traffic is extra annoying. (lane splitting is not legal here)

Waze often sends me into the thick of traffic during rush hour, ostensibly on a faster route as measured by other Wazers' progress. However, when I see the traffic volume and divert to a route I know will be relatively traffic free, it's much faster because not only are there no Wazers on my alternative route, _there's no traffic at all_. Should be a simple addition to make, an option to route me to the nearest shortest path with zero Wazer reports. In a major metro area, that only happens when there's no traffic on that route at all. It's easy to spot other Wazers on the road; they're the ones joining you in diving for the exit ramp when Waze pops up a route change...

Waze to suggest route changes and alternative route live when driving and some heavy traffic is happening ahead. - Last week I was driving home the usual route but a friend of mine called me to report heavy traffic on the usual route, so I changed the road, and when I reached home Waze showed me that there is heavy traffic around me but did not offer me to avoid it some 20 kilometer earlier.

This suggestion if for the website only and not the app as don't believe this option will be as helpful to app users. Plus a simple thing to add to a website.

Search options - Show for example Congestion only, Works only, Accidents only, etc. Will help cities that use traffic control centres to better identify issues and deal with them quicker which will reduce and/or remove congestion. No city has every square inch of the roads covered by CCTV. It needs the public’s help also to identify issues, programs like this can help those company’s but only if Waze listen. Vote for this option for better roads.

Today I was driving to work on I95 in Connecticut and was stuck in a standstill. Waze was continuing to route me on I95 to Exit 13 even though I was approaching Exit 14 which was clear and would have taken me to my office much quicker. I think the app should have detected the faster route and told me about it.

I'd like to go even further: next to the list of routing announcements is a list of traffic obstacles (congestions, roadworks etc.).
I would live it if I could click on an issue and select this particular issue to be avoided. Thus you can decide yourself if runnung into the traffic issue is ok or not (if it takes only a few minutes to get through the traffic there, then re-routing doesn't make that much sense, does it?). -

Rather often, either when editing, or using the app myself, I see Waze suggest a rather odd route, or down a side street, to attempt to save time on the drive. While laudable in intent, it unfortunately has the side effect of presenting a confusing route or one that doesn't really result in enough time saved vs the amount of time spent driving.
For example, an average driver is probably not going to want to turn off a main route to potentially save one minute to avoid a red light on a one hour drive. Instead of simply using a pre-determined amount of time saved (ie., 30 seconds-1 min) to suggest a detour around a known area of average low traffic speeds, Waze should instead calculate a detour around a low speed route or traffic jam if the time saved exceeds a certain percentage (5-10% at minimum) of the total ETA.

I'd rather stay moving and go a little farther or even take a little longer for sanity's sake so could the least congested traffic be a route suggestion? I have a 16 mile work commute that takes from 30-50 minutes. The fastest route has me stuck at a standstill for half the trip.
