Settings for types of alerts to allow
There are many types of alerts the Waze client can display as a layer on the map and/or pop up on your screen, sometimes both visual and audible. We would like to see an new Settings area added for the types of alerts we want to see and/or ignore and never have a notification appear or be heard.
The notifications should include at least, but not necessarily limited to:
Speed cams
Red light cams
Police (speed trap)
Road Hazards
Road segment speed condition
Traffic Jams
Chit Chat
Accident
Great news! For each type of report/alert you’re able to specify whether you’d like it do be displayed on the route. Accessed via Settings – Alerts&Reports – Reports. What’s more, you can choose area (e.g. 5 km around you) for which reports will be displayed on the map.

Will be selecting “not there” from now on for red light camera alerts. Hopefully if enough of us do this they will go away.

Customizing which alerts to mute and show seems like it would be a killer feature. There are already options for this, but they just aren’t granular enough currently. Alerts lose effectiveness when users train themselves to ignore them.

I also put my votes in for "vehicle stopped on shoulder ahead" alerts being IGNORABLE. Yes, please!!!

Any actions on this? I cannot stand the red light camera alerts, but do want other alerts. If the ability to silence red light camera alerts while maintaining other alerts is not given, I will quit using Waze. Red light camera alerts are too distracting and irritating. I do not run red lights, so I do not need these alerts. If people do, give the ability to keep them. But give us that don't the ability to turn them off. Surely this is a big deal...I do not know of anyone who likes red light alerts.
At least give the ability to silence a red light alert you have already acknowledged. Don't need to keep being reminded about it if you've already acknowledged it once.

If like a different notification (car hooter) when it's time to leave. Current similarity to text alert means I've missed the time to leave.

If you agree with this idea, consider up voting this similar suggestion with many more votes already. Search for:
Please provide an option to turn off the "car stopped on shoulder" warning.
Select the top entry with that same title and up vote it. (Links are not allowed in Uservoice, so I cannot post the link directly.)

I see there are multiple entries for this one same idea. Waze should consolidate them by closing the others and pointing to this one entry to focus the community votes.

I want to hear police alerts, accident, and congestion. Nothing else
Certainly not anything on SHOULDER.
Even with the points system all but disabled yahoos continue reporting junk for imaginary rewards...
Or anarchists at heart?

Please provide the ability to disable individual reports! I absolutely HATE the "vehicle stopped on shoulder" and "pothole" alerts. They are really distracting. Honestly, who cares that there is a car parked on the side of the road? Plus, potholes are simply a way of life in Norther California -- we have some of the worst roads in the country and potholes are everywhere.

I could not agree more on both counts. I live near Chicago where vehicles on the shoulder or as common as billboards or pigeons. Same thing with traffic cameras and I need to listen to my music or audio books for sanity on the commute.

I've gotten as many as eight "vehicle stopped on shoulder ahead" alerts in a two mile stretch of road. I don't want to hear these! What am I going to do about it? There is absolutely no benefit to this alert.
"Rain reported ahead" is also a worthless alert. Usually, it's already raining and, again, what am I going to do about it."
I'd really like to only hear alerts for police, "hazard on road," flooding, and I'd like to be alerted by voice when the route has been changed. 99% of my driving is the same path to and from work. Sometimes traffic is so bad ahead that Waze takes me off the highway and onto surface roads. However, since I know the route, I have "Alerts only" enabled. So, I need an audio alert to let me know to look at the screen and see that I need to change my route.

I came here to suggest this. It would make the app perfect for me!

I live where there are a ton of red light cameras. I don't run red lights, camera or no. I don't want to be told there's a red light camera ahead, I just want to listen to my music.
ps. Also, "rain". I can tell it's raining!
I once got an alert for roadkill. "OMG roll up your windows!" she said. I hope she wasn't typing that while driving just to tell me someone had hit a skunk. My windows are always up anyway. :)

With each update, I hope that this feature is added (specifically for red light camera alerts), but full customization would be great.

Utterly concur. I'm very tired of hearing "Vehicle stopped on shoulder ahead", made even worse by the fact that my phone is also music / audio book source, interrupting often for no necessary reason.
I'd prune out everything but police, hazards in roadway and traffic jams. -

or allow all but mute some

PLEASE let us selectively mute red light camera alerts. This is especially annoying in areas where many villages are using this new revenue stream.

100% AGREE. I was going to post this one too. Why does anyone care about "car stopped on shoulder ahead," anyway? Please let us customize.
