Signal deviation from "normal" work-home route
So I am using Waze mostly for avoiding traffic going to and from work, I suppose like most people. It would be helpful to have a feature where it gives an audible alert if it is plotting a course that is different from the "normal" one to avoid traffic. I imagine this could work by determining the best route assuming no significant traffic, and giving an alert if it is plotting a different course than that. Same thing goes for changes in mid-course due to accidents, jams, etc., that occur after I start. Normal navigation announcements aren't too useful on a regular route like this; would prefer to have announcements when there is something out of the ordinary--even ONLY those announcements.

I agree. The other night I was leaving Birmingham to head home and Waze told me to drive 20 miles in the wrong direction. I followed the GPS but it wasn't until I was almost home that I found the reason for the detour was that the motorway was shut.
For changes to regular routes or changes to the obvious route having Waze popup with a brief reason for the change and an estimate of how much time will be saved along with a button to reject the change if the saving isn't worthwhile. would be great.

Please bring back the T Pain navigation voice. It was the greatest navigation voice ever in history. I'd pay you money for it.

I typically only have alerts on for sound. So I often don't notice rerouting until it's too late. Seems like a no-brainer to push a notification when Waze wants to rerout around traffic.

I also drive with only alerts on during daily commute because the constant directional information interrupts what is on the radio telling me turns I already know. Though police and objects on the road are nice to know, what I really need to know is when I should take a different route due to traffic other than the beep that sounds when I miss the turn or exit. I do not always need to know where to turn in the normal route, but always find out too late that I should have deviated.

Had the same problem too. When Waze tells you to suddently exit the motorway it should give you the reason too , otherwise it is hard to believe it

Today we were driving on the highway in Hungary. We still had some 270 km of highway left, but Waze told us to exit. We know the road very well and thought it was a mistake. Actually there was a traffic jam ahead and we lost 30 minutes.
It would be awesome if, in case Waze modifies a segment of a route because of a traffic jam (or something else), it would notify you and add the reason for it.
Ex. "Exit the highway in 400m because of upcoming traffic jam, saving 30 minutes."Note that I am not talking about a complete reroute, but about "weird" decisions for segments of a route:
Ex. Use highway H1 for 200km, then exit for 20 km and then hop back on H1 (because of a traffic jam, for example)Hope it helps!
Thank you! -

When one navigate to a location, automatically the route being chosen is the fastest one. Sometimes there is a probable better route to take which takes a little bit more time but the distance is significantly less than the fastest route.
Example:
Route #1 - 25 min, 20 km
Route #2 - 26 min, 14 km
Many people, especially old people, doesn't always notice the route select option and they just push "Go Now". Therefore, I suggest creating a pop-up notification that there is possibly better route. -

I use Waze daily on the way to work, not for navigation to be notified of police. I have it muted except for alerts so I don't have to listen to navigation for the same way I drive every day. However, it would be nice to be able to put in a standard route for work, that you will be notified if Waze wants to take you another way due to traffic, construction, etc without having to listen to navigation the entire way for the same route you always take.

I have many times not noticed Waze wanting me to go off the highway due to accident/slow traffic or whatever.
Usually I don't notice it until I see the map zoom in for the 90 degree turn, and at that point I have already passed the off ramp and the very reason I (or we) use Waze is lost. To navigate past accidents.Instead I purpose Waze gives clearer visual and audible (even in mute mode) hints that you should turn off the road say 1 mile ahead.
Generally going from point A->B on the highway you don't look very often on Waze.
And if Waze tells you to deviate from the most optimal (in normal conditions) route it should alert you by flashing the screen and audible message (even in mute mode) to alert you that you should not keep going on this route, you should turn. -

There should really be an option to TOGGLE this specific sound / alert ... I find it HIGHLY annoying to hear constant BLEEPS over my music if I have "Alerts Only" set and take only minor deviations from well-known routes....

And the explanation should be voice output since the driver may not be watching the screen at that point - i.e. the same way hazards are announced.

I would suggest changing from "Sound Off" or "Alerts Only" to "Sound On" so the driver can hear the new directions by default.

Waze often choses strange different routes because your main one is jammed. We all know that.
The issue I find here is that the chosen alternate routes sometimes are deemed best because no wazer has gone through them yet to report their jam. So Waze easily skips one jam in your main route to lead you to another unnoticed jam.
Often, alternate roads are well known to be jammed at certain times (daily peak hours, soccer days, etc..), so no zone-savvy wazer would drive through them (and thus their jams and traffic status are not reported to waze servers).
I think Waze should take into account the jam's history at least in the main roads, and use that knowledge to weight in the alternate route and choose less frequently used roads. This would partially avoid it guiding you through roads that are well known to be jammed every day (even if no one has reported their jam yet). It should only guide you to those roads when there is no other choice. -

Many times a reroute has no real time gain, specially when Waze take me off route from the highway to a local way... time gain: 1 single minute and thats not handy at all. But with an reason like... Reroute: A1 - accident - 35minutes, users will be informed much better!
Sometimes a user knows the routes in the area very well, even without Waze, if the user ignore one or more alternative route advises from Waze without this kind of information a user will end up in that trafficjam... Like I do more often :-/ (well sometimes I am right ;) )

Whenever Waze suggests a route change it should also add a comment as to why the route change is being suggested. Ex: accident or construction or heavy traffic

Sometimes Waze tells me to take an unusual way, and I am left to decide (read: GUESS) if it's just being stupid. For the times I've decided to not listen to Waze, more often than not I get screwed by being stuck behind an accident, or other issue. It would be phenomenal if Waze stated "Abnormal Route selected due to accident." Or some reason provided.

Possible to know why it's rerouting 2/3 miles out

If the normal route is changed for some reasons (accident, slow traffic, etc...) and the new route is redirected, it will be easy if some short explain will appear (route recalcullated becouse of...), so the drivers are not thinking they know the road better, and hit the problem...
