Increase police warning distance
Waze users are warned of speed traps or police presence only about 600 feet ahead of time. This is far too late of a warning. With a clear line of sight, law enforcement can detect speeders at 1-2 miles out.
By the time the Waze warning pops up, you could have already been detected.
This feature – while very well intentioned and thought out – is useless with so little warning.

What we are aiming to do here is speed based alerters.

Anything of this kind, is greater than nothing. I’m grateful as it is, to have Waze.

it's necessary for the user to configure the warning distance for different types of reports

3 years in the roadmap? You must be kidding

I don't need increased distance and I rarely do the limit - I just pay attention to the traffic ahead.

This is the whole point of Waze, and needs user customization for police alert distance as soon as possible. App is virtually useless without it 😕

Personally, I'd like to see this as a configurable option (i.e., How far ahead do you want to receive warnings for reported police? Options: far, mid, near, custom distance, speed-based). Bonus points if you can set this per notification type.

Very nice, but folks download the app for more distance. Since users are in the front line posting warnings, the least this app can do is allow more distance, otherwise what’s the point? I can use google maps which is more accurate. Speed based? Gimme a break. Fix it!!

I'm not sure how critical this needs to be. The majority of the time someone reports Police where I drive, no one is there. Almost as if they reported a cop after they pulled someone over, in which case they aren't going to mess with you unless they have backup nearby.

Its 2022. Where is this update? I'm getting tired of looking at the Waze map for Police markings..... because the alerts are useless.

Allow customization for the alerts, for example, a pothole that is warned 2 kilometers before where the user is now, is useless, because you will forget that, in that case 100 meters before will be more useful.
Police warnings can be useful 4 kilometers ahead no 500 meters before.
And so on. -

Increase distance so you're told BEFORE cops see you. Right now, it tells you right as you're coming up on the cop. Add a feature where you can increase the distance so it alerts you over a mile out... Otherwise, it's worthless

RR crossing alerts are to early

When traveling the HOV lane on a freeway with 3 or more lanes to the right, being notified 1 mile before exiting can be difficult to navigate safely, especially with traffic or changing freeways.

All of the alerts should be adjustable, not just on/off.

Commenting on this feature what would be useful is to set more than one waring for the same camera each alert set for a different distance. It's a good idea to be warned far ahead for far reach cameras but it could happen that if warned far ahead when I reach the camera I already forgot about the warning so it does not serve it's purpose. Two or more configurable distances would be what's best.

A speed dependant alert could be useful, but should still be configurable. I am not so sure if it could be worse not to alert at a speed below the limit. I could speed up just there and the warning pop up just at the moment I'm above the limit and being fined already.

It would be nice to see the distance to the next speed camera on the route, and also the speed limit at the next camera. It would save both fuel and brakes, if you could slow down without braking.
