It would be great if School Zones were added.
I gave votes to the others. I do understand there are time management issues. This would be a huge plus.

We plan to work on putting School Zone alerts in the near future. In the meantime, make sure you’ve got the latest version of Waze for all the latest features.

Would love for the map to add school zones/crossings, would help with safety for kids too. This awesome Waze community would be happy to add them & add the times that they’re active (can easily look up school hours, or if you go thru one regularly and know the hours/days it’s up).

Avoiding school zones would be a great feature. Schools can be identified by address and times can be estimated or presumed. A smart approach may be to identify schools, measure slowdowns on roads adjacent to the schools, and solicit community feedback from wazers on those roads

School zone alerts needed. Australia.

I see this suggestion was originally submitted back in 2012.
Is there any updates on this feature request? This seems like such an important feature that would really be needed by everyone. -

This, reminds me. The railway alert is almost always too late, after I've crossed the tracks. Needs to happen well before the tracks.

Reduce speed notification before entering school zones. Something similar to the "approaching a railroad crossing" notification. Many schools are not viable from the road ways which makes it difficult to know you are entering one with enough time to slow properly. This would enhance safety.

A notification as simple ad "approaching a school zone" would br highly beneficial. It would help wazers to slow down in time.
Just like the "approaching a railroad crossing" notification enhances safety while driving this would be a highly beneficial addition to the waze map. -

Do you have an approximate timeline for this please ?

Its been 1 week i m using waze over Google map and I m quite impressed but I think waze should also add alert notifications about school zones and put the speed limit down to 40 to alert the driver. That will be really helpful. Thats the only thing I feel is missing.

I've had 2 fines in as many weeks, lost half of my demerit points. We need this NOW!

Already exists (partly)
From the app report a map problem, let the editor know its a school zone and the posted speed limit. When you approach the area you will get a speed warning alert.

There are a dozen or so schools in my area, and school zones can make a huge difference in traffic and ETAs, so this feature that would allow the routes to plan accordingly to a set schedule of temporary reduced speed limits and areas that will likely have traffic build up (the automatic traffic detection is not as good as you’d think it’d be).

This would be a good addition in the editor like junction boxes, you mark the schools drop off zone out with the box and set the hours of operation and when a waze user goes near or past it displays a warning school near by stay alert and the message only displays during the set hours it operates also turn the road colour to orange and show the school crossing sign on the roads near by or just the sign for school crossing during the operation hours.

A warning should be enough to alert the drive and the driver can make a decision (based on time) whether it's an enforcement time for the school zone (most in my area are 7-9am and 2-4pm. This would be helpful because POLICE often use school zones as SPEED TRAP. I know there is is a police icon, but this would help establish on on-going alert in case other Wazers have not posted the police car.

Time-based speed limits have been planned for a while now, but it's been bumped for other priorities. We'll be mapping it in Australia as soon as we can. :)

Yes in Australia it is a necessity.
Other places have variable speed like Night Time speeds in the US https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_limits_in_the_United_States#Minimum_speed_limits_and_night_speed_limits

Hi there,
I work for an IT company who mainly supports schools. We're finding that more and more of the streets we need to drive down have restrictions on when you can drive. If you do not notice or are aware of the signage/times, you will incur a PCN, which is at employees' own cost.Would it be possible to implement a warning or option to avoid these streets at such a time? A list of areas we're affected by are as follows:
Richmond: https://www.richmond.gov.uk/school_streets_exemptions
Kingston: https://www.kingston.gov.uk/sustainable-transport-safer-greener-healthier-travel/sustainable-travel-planning/2
Hounslow: https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/info/20053/transport/2157/school_streets/5Thanks,
Rick.
