Add closure report to Android Auto
There does not appear to be a way to report a temporary closure of a road due to an accident, etc. from within the Waze Android Auto interface. Please consider adding this feature.
Hey,
Please note we're changing the status of this suggestion to Currently Not Planned since we finalized our plans for 2024 and this idea won't be implemented this year.
We hope to include it in our plans for later down the line.
Thanks!

If you can't have this feature because of 3rd party nonsense, at least produce a separate app or widget to simplify reporting road closures.
Why should technology go backwards?

Because you can't report closures in Android Auto, Waze routinely routes me into a closure. It's happened twice in the past week, forcing me to turn around, and find a much longer route.
Google Maps doesn't have this restriction, and so I've had to switch to using that inferior UI if I need directions. Which is maybe what the overlords of Google are hoping for anyways after acquiring Waze.

The fact that this is "currently not planned" for a rather critical feature of the app is concerning to say the least. It can be as simple as clicking a closure button that then adds the closure to the upcoming node in the drive without additional user input to keep them focused on the road. I get that Android Auto nerfs the full features of Waze, but this is kind of a big deal that impedes the ability to navigate around such critical obstacles.

Here's another problem. If I'm using Android Auto I can't switch to my Pixel and report this. I have to disconnect, relaunch Waze on my phone, start a new trip, then report the closure.
How is this a good user experience? How does driving around in circles because I can't show a road as temporarily closed/blocked useful or safe?

Please add the road closure option to Android Auto. I had 20 cars behind me by the time I could turn around. Problem was downed tree and power lines due to a hurricane. Not everyone will be using Waze but it would make them more likely to use it.

The dumbing down of the Waze Android Auto interface continues and is close to making the app useless. The entire point of the app is to make driving directions simple and accurate. Not being able to relay important information in real-time such as the closure of a major interstate ramp is just plain stupid. If I am supposed to be able to support this community by relaying accurate information to drivers coming along behind me how do recent changes accomplish this?

I don't use my phone when I'm driving, however I have an android auto capable head unit. Without this feature, I'm pushing buttons unnecessarily to search for how to report a closure which I could do previously on my phone. Since I'd prefer using android auto, as its safer, this would allow correct reporting.

Please add the feature to report a road closure on the Android Auto version

@Ella "NOT RIGHT NOW"? really? There is no option to reroute and ignore a road on android auto, so Waze often tries to send you to the same road closure again and again. Which can sometimes be difficult to get around if you're not familiar with the area.

This is necessary for waze to provide safe routes!!

Waze person sent me here to vote on this. I went through the crazy stuff to set up your separate account for this and find that vote button does nothing? Glad it's Friday..

Although I have an old car and couldn't use this, I agree. Also, waze KNOWS what road it told me to take. Why do I have to figure out while trying to get out of a mess with cars behind me what all these arrows mean? Why doesn't waze just ask me to confirm that, yes, road X is closed, get me out of here?

Having a road closure option on Android auto would help out drastically. Grabbing your phone and opening it and disconnecting android auto takes too much attention from driving and too much time.

good morning, in the android auto options I would insert the "road closed" reporting function.
It would be very nice to be able to configure the options to be displayed on Android Auto independently in order to make the most used ones available. Thank you -

I agree with everything the original poster has said. Users have been asking for this on several other posts for many years, but Waze doesn't seem to show any interest in doing anything about it. Android Auto and CarPlay are probably responsible for this. However, surely during all this time Waze could have come up with a workable alternative option. As an alternative for example, adding a detour feature in situations like this to reroute drivers around a closure or obstruction. Garmin and TomTom Sat Navs have these features and they work very well, so why not Waze? Consequently, this would not involve reporting a 'Road Closure' which is what Android Auto and CarPlay appear not to want to introduce for some reason.

It would appear that it is Android Auto who for some reason will not allow the 'Road Blocked' feature to be used. If this is the case, then as a workaround, give us the option to either make a detour from that point of the planned route or give us the option to choose a particular road that we want to avoid (the blocked road). We don’t have to report it as being blocked. It’s just telling Waze and Android Auto that we don’t want to use that particular road. I can't understand why, after over 6 years since the original post, no one at Waze has been able to come up with a solution to this.

Allow us to report road closures when using Android Auto or Carplay

This is crazy! More and more people are using android auto, and it's becoming obvious that people are not reporting road closures any more.
One of the main features of Waze! -

@Ella if you're not going to add this, please explain why.
as a map editor, i find myself making excuses for your lack of this feature at least once a week. i'm sick of answering this question in URs!
