Show average speed when in an average speed zone
Show average speed when in an average speed zone
Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

Waze currently displays the instantaneous speed, which is helpful for fixed speed cameras. However, in Average Speed Check zones (section control), knowing the current speed is not enough.
I suggest that Waze should calculate and display the actual average speed from the start of the measured section to the current point.
How it should work:
When entering a section control zone, a secondary indicator should appear showing the cumulative average speed for that specific stretch.
This would allow drivers to see if their overall average is above the limit, even if their instantaneous speed is currently legal.
The indicator could be placed as a small badge next to the progress bar or integrated into the speedometer display.
Why this matters:
Without this, drivers often have to guess or do mental math to ensure they haven't exceeded the average limit due to a faster start at the beginning of the zone. This feature would promote much smoother and safer driving behavior. -

This feature would be extremely helpful for drivers, as it would allow better control of speed compliance, provide timely feedback on potential violations, and overall improve road safety.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could consider implementing this enhancement.

This would be a great feature: Calculated average speed in the zone itself - you can implement this in the arrow of the progress bar.
Also, it would be amazing to have the average speed progress bar in landscape mode. Currently it's available only in portrait.
Thank you for considering these, dear developers :) -

Really? This is important and doesn't fit the road map? What a complete bulshit!

Absolutely the best feature they could add to Waze... I can't believe it would be all that difficult to implement too! Simple calculation between fixed points.

I'm surprised that this is missing after all this years especially when now many roads in London have this average speed checks.

The green average speed zone line that is indicating is visible only in vertical view. It's very important for it to be in horizontal view also. People who have android units in cars can't see it.

Agreed, this feature would be useful. TomTom Nav had this feature about 15 years ago! Seems an easy feature to implement.

This option is extremely important for users driving in countries with a large number of average-speed measurement zones.

It’s really useful in long average-speed zones, and there’s only more and more of them now. I often switch to another app just for this feature, but Waze could easily build it in with the average speed zone progress bar.

This will be an absolute game changer for Waze! It doesn't require much to add but will be really helpful. Please consider this request! 🙏
