Voice command reports
Sending reports using short voice commands. For example: "waze danger car side of the road"
Great news! Reporting a vehicle on the side of the road using voice is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

As a relatively new user, it is very unclear how one reports any kind of road problems or to report if a reported problem is not there any more
while driving a car. It seems like the only way to do it safely is for someone who is a passenger to do so. I think it would be very important and helpful if you gave clear instructions on your app how to report a problem or its resolution. In addition it would be helpful to use a voice command on the app that a driver can use to report a problem or to report that a previously reported problem no longer exists, such as a police car or a stranded vehicle on the side of the road. It is very concerning to try to do so while driving a car and taking your hands off the wheel to click on the app reporting feature. After all the usefulness of Waze is based on drivers reporting issues so routes can be modified as needed! So let us know how to do it safely or come up with a change in the app to make it more possible and easy. Thanks! -

I use waze with Android Auto. I came here planning to suggest adding the ability to tell Waze about road hazards/police presence etc using voice control.

There needs to be more Google Assistant voice commands added to the Waze app. While it's nice that we currently have the ability to use one of the existing Google Assistant voice commands to report various traffic conditions (moderate, heavy or standstill), construction, police presence, fog, road hazards, roadkill, etc., there are still some visible distractions in the app that could be solved by using voice commands. For example, there are instances where another user reported police presence, roadkill or a vehicle that stopped on the side of the road and currently, the only way to dismiss these notifications (report still there or not there anymore) is by touching the screen, and that's distracting and dangerous. It would be great to be able to report police, a stalled car or roadkill, etc. as no longer there by using voice commands the same way we report other things in the app. Saying "Ok Google, report police car not there anymore" or "Hey Google, report stalled car not there anymore" or something along those lines is much safer than having to look at the phone and touch the screen, especially with reports of police presence.

For safety, drivers should not be distracted be pushing "buttons" on a screen. With android auto, often buttons do not work right.

When I want to report an incident to Waze (eyes-free) it only lets me use Google Assistant or Waze voice. I think it’s time that they give users more tools with Siri Shortcuts for incident reporting. Some users like me prefers Siri for integration, so phrases like "report police to Waze" would be very helpful especially in CarPlay. Sometimes, the "Hey Google" or "Ok Google" just ignores me at CarPlay and I'm forced to press the microphone button. So, I think if Siri Shortcuts is able to access incident reporting, it will be beneficial for iOS users.

Hi there,
First of all, thank you for the super app!
But, it would be very convenient if it were possible to open the reports menu and make the reports themselves not only manually, but also by voice. Sometimes it is even dangerous to make a report manually, because you have to: 1) open the menu of reports, 2) then select the type of report, 3) specify the report, and here every time you have to take your eyes off the road, which can be dangerous. It would be much better to be able to control the reports by voice. Let's say with the words "Waze report" or "Road report" opens the report menu and then also with the words "traffic, danger, police, accident...", select the type of report, and then also with words to specify the report. I think this will make your app altogether 10+.
Best wishes
Sergey

As there are more and more cameras, and with $1000 fines in Australia for even touching your phone when driving, would be good to have simple voice commands e.g. "WAZE CAMERA", WAVE TRAFFIC" etc etc

I use waze every time i drive, so when i see a police car, or roadkill, or someone pulled to the side of the road (or sometimes even ON the road), i’ll report it 100% of the time. This means i’m taking my eyes off the road and touching my phone screen in order to improve prospects for other users. We really need voice activation, or options for Siri/Google/whomever to report such hazards/general reports.
Apart from that, great app 10/10 👌🏼👌🏼

I would like to be able to tell Waze of road problems without looking at my phone or notepad. It would make it much more safe if I did not have to look and then press a button. The whole idea is to be safe behind the wheel and not take eyes off the road. Should be available in IOS and Android.

Just an idea with reporting a police hidden camera & similar “all hands on deck” situation the accuracy of the location report could be a bit delayed as one would have to very carefully navigate through and yet want to report the matter on Waze ! Voice reports can be very handy in a situation like so .

It’s best practice to not touch your phone whilst driving. To avoid this Waze should adopt Voice Recognition Technology allowing you to say Hey Waze Road Works Southbound, Hey Waze huge pothole Northbound outer lane, Hey Waze Mobile Highway Patrol Car Southbound, Hey Waze Foxed Mobile Speed Camera set up, Hey Waze Heavy Traffic Congestion North Bound. Etc conversely the app recognises your GPS location and alerts you 20km in advance to any notifications via the speaker on your phone.

It would be great if you could use voice commands to advert of danger on the road.
Something like: press report, say "vehicle stopped on the road", one audio read back and final audio confirmation.

When Waze gives an alert, I.E., vehicle stopped on the side of the road, driver should be able to give a voice response to the question of if that vehicle is still there.
