Please note we're changing the status of this suggestion to Not right now, since we finalized our plans for 2024 and this idea won't be implemented this year.
We hope to include it in our plans for later down the line.

Hi. I live in the UK and I'm a long term user of Tom Tom GPS. I recently moved over to Waze because my car supports Android Auto and Apple Car Play. I love the app 90% of the time. However, Waze often seems determined to push me cross-country down tiny little country lanes, where there's often only enough width for one car. Having to reverse my car backwards to a siding cut into the hedgerow, so another car can go past, is really not fun. My Tom Tom has an option to stay on roads with two lanes, even if the route would be slightly longer. If memory serves me right, it's called something like "Main Roads Preference".
I've seen this topic discussed in archived posts here, so I don't understand why the program developers haven't put this essential choice into the app's option list yet.
It's the one and only problem I have with Waze, which in every other area, is really very good. However, this issue drives me nuts, and it saddens me to say it will probably force me back to my antique Tom Tom so I can option my journey the way I want it to be...
I'd like the app developers to reconsider putting this much requested feature into Waze. It would be a great way to ensure users stay with the app and don't move across to your rivals.
I think there may be a fairly easy way to code this into the app by adding a "large vehicle, or truck" to your vehicle type option list. As a truck cannot easily drive down single track roads, this should ensure the route selected by Waze would give priority to main roads.
