Smart Routing for Buses and Trucks - A Must-Have Feature for Waze
Hello Waze Team,
I would like to suggest adding a dedicated navigation mode for buses and trucks, with routing that takes large vehicle limitations into account.
Today, Waze is excellent for private cars, traffic updates, and real-time navigation, but it can be very problematic for buses and heavy vehicles, especially in Israel and particularly in the Tel Aviv area.
Many streets are extremely narrow, have sharp turns, low clearances, weight restrictions, or are simply not suitable for large vehicles. As someone who works in tourism and frequently travels with tourist buses, I have personally experienced situations where Waze directed our bus into streets or turns that were physically impossible to pass.
More than once, we got stuck in a narrow turn with vehicles both in front of and behind us, and it took a very long time and significant traffic disruption to maneuver the bus out safely. These situations are stressful, dangerous, and avoidable with vehicle-aware routing.
It would be extremely valuable if Waze could allow users to define:
Vehicle type (bus, car, truck, RV, etc.)
Vehicle height
Vehicle width
Vehicle length
Vehicle weightAnd then use this information to avoid:
Narrow streets
Low bridges or tunnels
Roads with weight or height restrictions
Tight turns unsuitable for large vehicles
Roads prohibited for buses/trucksIn addition, in Israel there are certain lanes and roads designated specifically for buses that Waze currently does not fully utilize or prioritize in routing. Adding support for public transportation and bus-priority infrastructure could significantly improve navigation efficiency for bus drivers.
I believe this feature would greatly improve safety, reduce traffic incidents, and make Waze much more useful.
Many professional drivers currently use a second navigation app alongside Waze because of this limitation. Integrating these capabilities directly into Waze would be a major improvement.Thank you for considering this suggestion.

Add a setting for text size on map
On the 5 inch wireless bluetooth display on my bike, I can't read street names because they are just too small. If there was a text size adjustment that would help immensely.

Distance Reticle
It would be very helpful on the Waze app to have the option when scrolling away from your current position to have a marked reticle Displayed in the center of the screen and an arrow pointed toward your location with two numbers by the reticle. One for distance as the crow flies and another noting the driving distance to that reticle location. Thanks.

Add a new alerts feature for usual police radaring spot
Add a program that would collect all the data from reports of where police are and use the information to display “usual police radiating spots” or something like that. Whenever I pass a police car on the road they are always in the same couple spots everyday and everyday I report them being there through Waze. It would be nice if through Waze when I’m a mile away from that usual hangout spot for police if it would notify me “Usual police radar spot” that would be helpful.

Integration
I would like to suggest adding integrations with third-party applications so they could use your maps directly inside external apps, with a “Powered by Waze” logo included.
This could also serve as advertising for your platform, and you could make the integration paid as well.I also have many other ideas.
If you are interested, feel free to contact me by email:Integration

2026 BZ/Solterra Stop Route Issue
There is an issue when using Waze with Android Auto in a 2026 Toyota BZ or 2026 Subaru Solterra. The X to stop an active your doesn't respond. All other areas and buttons on the screen respond. I have to use voice command to cancel the route. The physical screen area works when the X to cancel the route isn't there, i.e. select saved destination still in Waze. The X to stop your doesn't work in full, 2/3, or when 1/3 of the screen.

“Reverse Trip” Option
I think it would be a great feature if Waze added a “Reverse Trip” button after completing a drive. Instead of generating a new route back based on Waze’s current suggestions, this feature would guide you back using the exact same route you originally took.
There are times when I discover an easier or preferred route during a drive and would rather return the same way instead of taking a different suggested route. This could be especially useful for short trips where you quickly return to your original starting point.

I can’t imagine that I’m the first to suggest this, but it would be helpful to be able to have directions repeated. I
Is there a way of doing this already? Is there a reason that this hasn’t been done already?

To whom this may concern, I would like to see the speed zone and actual speed larger
I find the speed zone is too small, it should be enlarged.
I would like to see the speed zone and my travel speed larger font and bolded please.2 votes -
Speed limit indicator
Change the colour of the 'proportion of speed limit' indicator line from grey to green which would make it easier to read at a glance and mean less time looking away from the road - especially useful in built up areas where it's sometimes not clear whether the limit is 20mph or 30mph

Lack of Context in Rerouting: Security Risks and User Autonomy
The current Waze algorithm often reroutes users on long-distance trips without providing the underlying reason (e.g., specific accidents, road closures, or incremental traffic). While this "silent optimization" might work for short urban commutes, it represents a significant strategic failure for long-haul navigation for the following reasons:
Safety vs. Efficiency: By prioritizing the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) above all else, the app frequently diverts drivers from well-monitored, high-infrastructure highways to poorly maintained or dangerous secondary roads to save a negligible amount of time. Without knowing why the route was changed, the driver cannot assess if the time-saving is worth the safety risk.
Loss of Situational Awareness: On long journeys, a driver is a decision-maker, not just a data point. If the app detects a total road closure 30 miles ahead but only shows a new path, the driver loses the opportunity to make strategic choices, such as stopping at a service station to wait or choosing a different, safer detour.
Algorithmic Opacity: The lack of transparency creates distrust. If the system suggests a detour without specifying the cause, the user is more likely to ignore the instruction, potentially heading straight into a major gridlock.
Requested Feature:
Implement a mandatory notification (visual or auditory) for significant route changes on long-distance trips, specifying the cause (e.g., "Route changed due to accident on Hwy X"). The driver must be kept in the loop to maintain safety and logistical control over the trip. The current Waze algorithm often reroutes users on long-distance trips without providing the underlying reason (e.g., specific accidents, road closures, or incremental traffic).
