Increase police warning distance
Waze users are warned of speed traps or police presence only about 600 feet ahead of time. This is far too late of a warning. With a clear line of sight, law enforcement can detect speeders at 1-2 miles out.
By the time the Waze warning pops up, you could have already been detected.
This feature – while very well intentioned and thought out – is useless with so little warning.
What we are aiming to do here is speed based alerters.

While 1/2 a mile was an improvement, is is still not enough time on the highway as you are likely in the kill zone already.
I would love to be able to customize the alert distance, as well as choose which alerts show pop ups and which alerts play audio notifications.

Agreed, too short. Also it is not always clearly recognized from the phone speaker. Maybe an alert tone then identify?

Minimum alert distance on highway should be 1mi for police warning. Anything less does not give you enough warning, whether it be for speed enforcement or giving you the heads up to the people who jam on there breaks when the see a cop. At best 1/2mi for slower speeds when not on highways and 1mi at higher speeds on highways.

An under 1000 ft warning for police ahead…..no good. By the time you're aware of the alert your on top of the officer and well within range of his/her traffic radar or, laser. It is far safer to be alerted well in advance so that you can monitor your speed and not have a "panicked" reaction. Jamming on the brakes is no good for anyone. Please make the alert distance at least a mile.

Anything under a 2500 ft. warning for police ahead is has questionable value. About 600 ft, where it is now is completely useless. Most radar encounters and almost all laser encounters are over that distance. Why was the alert distance reduced? Frustrating and useless! Please allow the user to custom taylor the alert distance. If not willing to do that, the standard warning for police ahead should be at least 5280ft…a mile.

Actually, most police radar units obtain a speed reading at less than 1 mile. I run with a quality radar detector at all times, in addition to using Waze. Having at least a 1 mile Waze alert for "Police Spotted" should be more than adequate in order to reduce one's speed and avoid unnecessary tickets. Please add this feature to Waze.

When I report a police officer it takes a few clicks and before I can click send I could be a half a. mile away or more. To increase the accuracy when I click on the police officer, Waze should mark the map at that time. This goes for other reports. I find that road hazards are often not accurate.

it would be nice if you could add an option that you choose how far you get the alarm (500m , 1km, 2km before the spot)
.. Even add a option that you choose when you get the alert (everytime, above the speed, never)And it would be nice if you make a sound alert for other report, not just the radar.. everything that we can choose to get the alart or not in settings.

So when I'm in traffic I have this awful need to know too much, so I want a display while in traffic that says how long the current yellow/orange/red area lasts, in distance

Please make alert distance adjustable. 300 meters is not far enough for hidden cop traps as your already within their kill zone.

I would want this interoperable with personal jingle audio blurbs
From both XMPP TEXTING roster and waze groups.
This should use OPEN Standards and NOT google voice. Jingle for audio and one day video.
Should play well with SIP (tcp or udp) : sip clients or even api of http://anveo.com/? Jingles or http://vitelity.com -- both SIP TCP capable, critical for mobile battery.

Combine this with adjust location of report for manual reporting

This should also adopt API to collect reports from proven functional radar detectors (all one of the brands)
There are several groups for reporting speed traps; those equating fuel efficiency with 80+ mph and safety with less than 8 mph. Until radar jamming ceases to be a felony
waze could be a technological advantage against tyranny or fascism

Bring back 1 mile notification for cops!!! 0.3 miles is too close. Especially on straight roads. Their radar gun can reach that far. Also people are sometimes late marking them making it even less than 0.3 miles before actual warning on screen.

I need more time to confirm or "not there" hazards, police, etc. Why not 30 sec? There have been a few times when I pressed "not there" only to find that the hazard was just a little further down the road.

When the "not there" option pops up for hazards and police it often disappears before I arrive to where it should be so you aren't able to click 'not there' by the time you reach the mark. It should remain on the screen longer or be a clickable option when you open the hazard or police reporting.

500 mètres de distance avant un radar sur autoroute, c est trop court. Comment passer à 1.000 mètres ? Ou alors à quand la possibilité de la paramétrer nous même. Merci beaucoup.

An option to choose when an Speed Cams (Radar) Report should appear, at "X" distance. This is very usefull and I don't know why it doesn't let us to chose at "x" distance from the Speed Cam we should be warned. Really 300Meters from the Speed Cam its so far. Let us decide them.

I noticed that while it displays the distance to the road hazard or Police presence in feet (in USA), the real distance are much farther, approximately 3 times farther. That makes me think that numbers are in meters, though shown as feet.

I would also like to see an adjustable reporting distance for _all_ hazards. Alternatively, send a reminder notification when the hazard or police location is very close. Presently, I may be notified over a mile away of a road hazard and completely forget about it by the time I've arrived at its location.
