Remove permanent "where to" and "my Waze" fields when phone is horizontal.
I use Waze with my phone in a horizontal/landscape position. All is good if I set a location target and use Waze to guide me to it. But I sometimes I like to see the traffick volume without setting a destination. In this mode, Waze takes up a third of my map display with the "where to" and "my Waze" fields. I should be able to turn those off or they should auto disappear.

Perhaps you can have a tiny icon on the lower left corner, click on that will expand the bar or something like that...

Please remove the where to bar because I mostly use waze without specifying the destination.............. I just want to see the speed limit at all time

Ridiculous. More than 2 years and nothing has changed.

This needs to be fixed. It’s preventing users from quickly reporting things that make Waze the app that it is. I don’t use the navigation feature as other users have mentioned, but merely use Waze on every local drive and to go back and forth to work. Tapping in the open map once I’m driving or on the open freeway does nothing to reveal the report button. I have to, while I’m driving, use two fingers. One to pull the “Where to” bar down to expose the Report icon and at the same time use the other finger to hopefully tap the report icon to get the report options to show up. This is NOT safe and for that reason I haven’t been reporting as much as I could be. I’m sure other users are experiencing the same issue. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app with no luck. Why not just move the report icon to the top of the screen where it’s easily accessible and not “hidden” by other windows.

I like to see traffic and continue to the map when not using GPS to a destination.

Landscape mode is terrible, make a option to remove where to!!!!!

That feature literally makes waze the worst navigation app, the car is off centered to the right and ruins the entire map and experience, not all of us use vertical phones, I had waze on in dash radio but until it's fixed I won't be reinstalling

It’s absolutely asinine not being able to remove the “Where to” input box from landscape setting,

In landscape mode the map isn't usable with the "Where to" Box. Device: iPhone.
Pleas make an option that let us deactivate this Box -

Absolutely ridiculous that we are unable to use Waze in full screen mode without putting in a destination. Landscape mode 1/3 of the map is covered by where to? Fricking silly. If your gonna cripple the functionality of your product Why don’t you just show add on one third of the screen. Insane we’re still dealing with this today. Years later. Seriously Waze. Fricking let us at least swipe it off. It’s enough to make me switch back to Apple Maps or google maps. Way to go and ***** up a good product Waze. Thumbs down.

Hi, Waze! Please make those two bars at the bottom with a "hide" option. They cover too much of the map in "no destination" mode. Thank you!

This works fine on Apple car play, but why not while using your mobile phone? I would like to use Waze while driving my motorcycle. Especially when in horizontal/landscape mode the box is simple blocking the map view. Simple improvement: keep where to in vertical mode, remove while in horizontal/landscape mode. That would be perfect!

This is a ‘no-brainer’ really. Waze would be such a great product if it weren’t for this poor design element.

Often like to see traffic & road conditions without a destination. Why can’t I turn off the where to bar that uses half the screen !! Ugh

Same here. Can't remove search or can't auto hide whole driving. Android 8.1 on a android head unit.

@Pies Julius, hello. I rooted my phone, copied preferences file on my pc, modified it like you said, copied back to /data/data/com.waze/ but no luck. When I reboot my phone and restart waze app it is the same. Am I missing something? Do I have to do anything else? Thank you for your time! Multumesc :)

I noticed the "where to?" banner totally disappears when using it with Apple carPlay.
I'm guessing you don't ***** around with the power of Apple.
On my motorcycle, in landscape mode, Waze is as useful as digging holes on the surface of the ocean.

Hi Everyone, it seems Waze already has a new layout called Rewire that can be enabled from config. Unfortunately you need to or rebuild the apk yourself or have root and modify the following file:
/data/data/com.waze/preferences
and Add or Modify these configs to look like these:
Rewire.Legacy app navigation: 0
Rewire.Rewire main menu: 1
Rewire.Hamburger button enabled: 1
Rewire.Search zero state enabled: 1
Rewire.Search autocomplete enabled: 1
Rewire.Start state enabled: 1once done your Waze should look like this:
