  1. Temporary real-time traffic regulations override

Police frequently implement temporary local traffic regulations, such as diverting vehicles through bus lanes or HOV lanes. On Waze, these segments are typically mapped with Time-Based Restrictions (TBRs) to prevent routing through them. However, these areas are usually pre-mapped. I propose creating a new entity within WME that can be toggled in real-time to override existing TBRs, allowing for more accurate routing based on live traffic conditions

  2. WME Feed customise by country

WME Default loading is launching with feed showing KoiFish suggestions that are locked for almost all editors.

Most L1-2 editors cannot add these and cannot hide them either. As a display, it is very confusing for them.

Without taking away any choices in Feed selection, it would be nice if the WME Default Feed could either be selected by country as defined by coordinators or at least remove KoiFish suggestion as default load for all editors.

  3. Harmonize poor-road nomenclature to "Poor roads"

Please harmonize the nomenclature Waze uses for roads that may beat up cars or get them dirty.

Currently, WME allows marking segments as "unpaved", while the companion feature in the app allows the driver to avoid "dirt". But unpaved and dirt are two different things; for example, many would consider a gravel road to be unpaved, but few would call it dirt. Meanwhile, even some paved roads have such poor surface quality that local drivers might wish to avoid them in favor of better alternatives.

Since the underlying goal is to allow drivers to avoid roads with poor surface quality,…

  4. Wildlife Collision Hazard Areas

Wildlife, especially deer, are a significant hazard to drivers in many parts of the world. Collisions with deer account for one to two million insurance claims each year in the US alone. While wildlife on the roadway is harder to anticipate than other hazards, authorities do know of specific areas, times of year, and times of day that drivers are at increased risk of collision. Please let us mark these hazard areas (with the times of year and times of day they should be "active" to avoid hazard-alert fatigue) to communicate this risk to drivers. Both drivers and wildlife will…

  6. Add a comments field to WME when adding a closure

When adding a closure, I think it would come in handy if there was a comments field (or text box) that could be used to let other editors know, what source was used. If there is a problem/question afterwards, other editors know where to ask for additional info.

This field should only be visible to editors, no need to show it in the Waze app itself.

Currenly I use the description field, but that's not so handy.

  7. Set up an autoreply for the UR message notification mails

Every so often, we still encounter people who send a reply mail to the UR message notification mails. Sometimes Wazers do this when they're unable to respond in any other way, but usually they just do this out of habit. The mail address itself clearly indicates it shouldn't be used to get a reply (no-reply@waze.com), but in many mail clients mostly the name ("Waze Map Editor") gets shown.

I'd like to therefore propose the addition of an autoreply mail whenever someone sends a message to the no-reply@waze.com inbox. I know it's ironic to send replies from a mailbox…

  8. Prevent the creation of place "my home"

Many drivers create places called "home", "my house" or any similar name. It takes some time to review/reject the PUR, so it would be great to have something to automatically prevent it : a warning to the user ? a filter to automatically reject the creation ?

  9. Show a character counter for entering a name of an event

Since the name length of a traffic event is technically restricted also the WME limits the name input after the maximum length ist reached
    (https://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59225-map-editor-suggestions/suggestions/41814004-limit-name-input-in-event-mode implemented).

It would be even more helpful if there would be a char counter that shows the remaining length for the name.

This requested behavior is already the case for entry boxes of map comments and URs.

  10. Closures - Don't return to top of list

When you have a lot of closures on a segment, Waze goes back to top of list each time you open one of the closures in the list. This makes it more labour intensive if you have to go through several to change settings. It should be constructed in such a manner that when you cancel or save a closure, you return to the same position in the list.

  11. GPS announces what state or county you're in

It will be nice if the GPS would announce the state, county and city you entered in because on the road the signs might be knocked down or you just might not see them while driving especially on the highway or minor roads I really think this needs to be a thing it'll be nice if it will announce what city You just entered in.

  12. Offline Maps

For me can be useful to have possibility to download offline area maps. Can be made when you're planning to go in another country without mobile data coverage or when you've issue on mobile data.

  13. Show HN stop points for all levels

When viewing a road that is locked to a higher level, it is not possible to view the HN stop points. This makes it impossible to troubleshoot the issue without requesting an unlock that might not be required if nothing needs to be edited. Being able to view the stop point even when I can't edit would let me know if the HN needs to be changed before I request an unlock.

  14. Enhanced Dynamic Segment Creation and Editing

    Dynamic Curve Adjustment:

I propose introducing a dynamic segment creation tool in the Waze Map Editor. This tool would allow users to create a segment by selecting the start point and the endpoint, and then dynamically adjusting the curve by dragging the segment with the mouse. Additionally, the properties menu would enable further adjustments, including angle degrees, after the segment has been created.

Users can click to set the start and end points of a segment.
The segment curve can be adjusted in real-time by dragging with the mouse, providing a more intuitive and precise way to shape roads.

  15. Use URL to add external provider

Sometimes WME fails to locate a right matching place from Google Maps, but the place can be found with Google search engine. As a solution I suggest to enable WME to assign a matching place also by a known URL from Google Maps.

  16. Issue Tracker: better filtering of Map Suggestions

In the issue tracker, we can filter Map Suggestions by status: Open, Closed, or All, with a few subcategories under Closed. However, "Open" suggestions include (a) suggestions with status "Lapsed" and (b) suggestions that can't be accepted or rejected because "Change already applied to the map." Please add filters that would allow us to exclude (a) and/or (b) from the Open category.

  17. Add an option to delete a community schedule

The scheduler does not have the option to delete a community schedule. Some schedules were added for testing, and some are not needed anymore since no school zone uses that schedule. It is suggested that any schedule that is not used at all, or when the defined time has expired, can be deleted.

  18. Ability to submit PUR's outside of your editing area.

I would love to be able to submit PUR's for places outside of my editing area. As I sometimes see places that have incorrect data that needs to be updated but not always an editor in that area is aware. Rather than PM them on the forums it would be more efficent to just submit a PUR for that place. Currently you can only do it in your own unlocked Area..

  19. Custom layers for map editor.

It could be helpful in map editing, if users could add their own layers. Just for their own use, for example shape or wms.
Users may have access to local map layers that they can use to add landmarks or edit roads. At the moment I can only rely on blurry bing aerial map, gps tracks and memory.

  20. Require Place Update Request approvers to confirm deletions & other major changes

Please add an extra layer of confirmation before saving in WME, if approving a PUR would remove a Place, change it from an Area to a Point, or change it from Public to Residential (all actions that delete a lot of data).

A change of the place's primary name should also require an extra layer of confirmation before saving, this is even more common than deletion although less immediately destructive.

Why do I bring this up? A Rank 6 editor, or possibly Waze staff, recently deleted the Area Place for San Francisco International Airport. It had been locked at Rank…
