Can't believe this is still an issue!

My current account is 6 years old, but I've been using the app since late 2009 and knew a couple of programmers who left where I worked to be part of Waze.

I thought when Google bought them, FB support would stop being the only way to connect friends. Then when everybody deleted FB I was sure it would happen. Now it's 2019 and this is an embarrassment. Yalla! What's the hold up?

This is a great app. The thing that would put it over the top is being able to add friends. Not connect to Facebook for even more info to be shared across companies. It's crazy not to have the feature. You could do it in so many ways and it would even increase the user base.

Want to add friends but no facebook. . Bummer... plz make it so we dont have to use face book to keep up with family and friends

I've never used Facebook and never will, especially with all the negative news about it lately. Why has Waze deleted all my friends and will not let me share driving information with friends and family? That used to be one of the most important features. But Facebook? Really? Why, Waze? Listen to your user base and divorce yourself from Facebook, please.

Really??? what is the point and why change it if it was working perfectly? Waze you should listen to your customers and let us add friends without having to use a FB account.

Add the old eta system back. Facebook is useless for local friends that I am actually friends with. Two very different contact lists and not everyone uses Facebook AKA steal all your data and sell it to the highest bidder-book. This is so moronic the person that sold out for Facebook should be fired.

Agree, I don't want facebook having complete access, or waze posting "Tom is driving, see where!" to my wall or whatever it wants to do. Wife and I thought drive sharing was busted somehow until I found she wasn't a contact anymore and there was no way to add her!

Let me add friends without Facebook. Will not ever use Facebook as it's awful. Please allow us to have friends without Facebook

I just want to navigate to my iOS Contact's homes and business by reaching for their name in my Contacts. I guess it's back to MAPS (ugh)

I have an idea: learn how to search

Me and my wife use to use this app everyday to make sure we both got to and from work and with friends now and then to plan trips. Now I can't even view anything without having a Facebook account, which I've never had EVER! I don't want a Facebook account and I don't want the app limited to those who do. Facebook is dropping users by the day and this is BS. The Waze team keeps citing some law change in the EU for this change but this is BS, many have pointed it out and I won't reiterate what has been said but it's unnecessary so have only Facebook account and do away with the original Waze accounts. Google maps is now what we use as it has many of the old Waze features and Google maps is now getting police and accident reporting in a few months. Bit Waze was once great, no longer as everyone can tell. Forcing carpool notices and ads on us. Forcing car type, taxi, Uber, motorcycle 247 on us etc, it's like Google has the whole Waze division smoking hash. Google has made Waze obsolete for us but I just want those reporting features! Oh and Waze how can Google maps see my locations and share locations but your app can't? Oh wait you're not getting your Facebook cut money right?!

Please restore the friends feature. Not everyone has or wants Facebook.

I have stopped using Facebook a few years ago and I'm not going back only to suit some EU regulation. I have started to use Google maps location sharing to see my wife on her trip home. Great when planning meals or going to dinner.
I use waze as a kind of radar for traffic accidents or avoiding standstill traffic, Etcetera.
A strange situation because Google owns Waze. If Waze doesn't become "Google-centric" they, that is to say, the Israel based Waze will become a burden to non-European users.

This is bonkers. I use Waze for all my roadtrips but ditched facebook long ago due to privacy concerns. Imagine my surprise when my best friend traveling in from out of state sends me his trip and I'm unable to view his drive. So I check my waze friends and find it replaced with a Facebook login???

Even when I used facebook, I refused to link it or use it to log into other services. Now to have the app crippled because I don't use a social media platform (one that's not even Google's) is just insane.

Please restore the basic functionality that made this app useful because as it is, I consider it thoroughly broken.

I don't use facebook, please back old system.

About Friends feature.

Well, there is nothing important about me that word need to know, so I don't have FB. And it is most likely that I won't have FB for a very long time.
Sharing my trip progress to a date/meeting or vacation with my date or with my friends in another car is a very very useful. Sharing my lonely rides with my family just to know that I'm safe is a good practice too. Knowing that my family is safe is priceless. I cant force every person in the world to open a FB account just for this.
Please, let us have Waze friends that are not FB users.

How is this not fixed? I like Waze, I passionately hate Facebook, and the forced connection makes me like Waze much, much less. It's like having a friend who is dating a horrible person, and they refuse to go out without bringing along the jerk, except in this case, the friend is an abusive thief and you know they are coming along just to try to steal from you. If you want your app to get wider adoption, and improve by getting broader user input, please let us choose how we connect with our friends.
