Better direction instructions - instead of current wayfinder segment work-aound
Wayfinder segments (‘street’ > ‘direction’) look like a pure workaround to me and for good reasons they are primarily used for ramps entering a freeway or at freeway intersections.
For intersections within a city or other non freeway roads outside of cities there is no satisfying solution as the street name often is NOT the best navigation instruction.
This is a critical issue in countries like Germany where “smaller” roads often are neither known by their numbers nor by their street names.
A “new” „wayfinder“ feature should not miss-use the semantics of the street name field.
Instead we should have additional optional A>B and B>A direction instruction fields.
In some cases the direction shield may also differ depending from which source you are coming. In this case the “green” turning arrows could also have a “>direction” information.Wazers will know if street or “direction instruction” is more relevant therefore the map editor should be able to set the “default” on what waze normally would use.
Possibly we could give an option in the waze client like:
- always say street names
- always include directions
- prefer directions over street names
With these options Wazers will be able to get more help on intersections.Wayfinder segments (‘street’ > ‘direction’) look like a pure workaround to me and for good reasons they are primarily used for ramps entering a freeway or at freeway intersections.

Update this with a real GPS view map!
Love this app but can't fully replace my gps navigator with it just yet. I do a lot of deliveries and when driving without navigation, a real GPS device will say on the top of the screen upcoming street also if u are somewhere and don't know where u touch your vehicle it shows u the closest address by u. This is a safety feature... Please add! This app only gives u the hundred block

Please don't have case sensitive usernames
While I understand that security is a good thing, and this does arguably make the system slightly safer by increasing the username space, it also provides usability problems: Specifically for users who create their accounts while using their phones, which often automatically uppercase the first letter of any text (IE exactly what happened to me)

Better live updates - ETA not very accurate at beginning of drive - traffic conditions (jams) do not show
using Waze for a long time - but it still bugs me when I am stuck in traffic that the road shows up as clear and not in the appropriate color. Also, ETA is way off at beginning of drive, because Waze doesn't calculate the rush hour/construction traffic correct. Today is was off by 10 minutes (on a 30 minute drive originally)

Simplify UI for lite users
I know this may seem like a facepalm moment for many users, but trust me, I have friends out there who have given me feedback that Waze is 'too complicated' and find Google Navigation far simpler. I see one option is the first screen could ask 'Would you like to "Enter a Destination" or "Just drive around"?' just to make the first impression simpler.
Other tweaks could also be made for our tech-not-so-savvy users. This could have a major impact on retaining users.

Slight modification to American English voice prompts when navigating from unnamed roads to named roads.
When transitioning from a network of unnamed roads to a named road, waze will say (American English), "Turn left at Pearl St, then turn right at Pearl St" (example encountered when navigating from the Whole Foods parking lot on Pearl St to 1620 Pearl St in Boulder, CO). These transitions frequently aren't signed, though I understand this makes sense for on-ramps. However, it would make more sense and be consistent in both situations to change the article from "at" to "toward." You'd then hear, "Turn left toward Pearl St, then turn right at Pearl St." "To" would also work as a substitution if "toward" is not in the lexicon.

Make your ability for me easy to communicate to.
I love WAZE. I don't like not being able to have an account. I have signed up, I get your FB posts as well as emails yet, I am not able to communicate when on the road. Today I asked for the ability to create a new password. You send a link. I complied. Showed I was successful, yet when I go to my dashboard - I don't exist. Come on, you are better than this and I am no computer dummy. I am ready to quit and find something else and tell everyone of my friends in the process. Make your process seamless and user friendly. Pissed off in Orlando, Donn

Startup sequence is misarranged; initial direction; use accelerometer; easier access to 2d map
I'll describe the problem by describing my experience. Often I'm in a hurry to get directions and go. I start Waze and there's a relatively long wait (4 sec) for the splash screen to pass--understandable, but still a minor annoyance. Then I just want to get to Navigate so I can get my route. But Waze is busy drawing the map for 2-3 sec, which I don't need to see right now. At last I get to Navigate. I select my destination from my favorites and the machine starts route-searching.
Only at this point does Waze decide to display a popup asking me if such-and-such is my destination. To the app's credit, this destination is usually where I am going: but at this point it's useless and just a nuisance.
(Yes, these are developed-world problems.)
I have an iPhone4, so my machine is slower than the latest model. But still it's a pretty common iPhone, so I know others share this experience.
While I'm here, I'd also like to ask a couple more things.
Could you make use of the phone's accelerometer? Often times I take a sharp curve right before parking in a driveway. Waze has no notion what direction the car is pointing, so when I start it back up, it draws the map facing some random direction, making it difficult for me to figure out which way I have to go initially.
Is there any way that you could make it easier to switch between the 3d and 2d views? This would help with the initial-direction problem. It would also make it easier to use my own human knowledge of the roads to decide which way I want to go. As it is, Waze is too much like a master and not enough like an assistant.
Make it easier to work with favorites. Allow import of favorites from XML. Have a default title for locations found in search that you want to add to favorites. (Your search btw stinks--first sign of this is that you use Bing, which reeks, to supplement it. When I can find in Waze, I naturally turn to Google Maps.)
