Any news on a way to add friends without facebook?…only want to get my achievements to be honest 😂

I like to suggest that every registered Wazer can communicate with other registered Wazers without having to link up to Facebook or any other social media.
Currently linking to Facebook etc is a requirement for that.

Cross-linking various social media accounts is a data protection / privacy issue.

To remain in control of one’s data, one should generally keep social media accounts un-connected.

I‘d love to see a feature where one can e.g. communicate w. Wazers in the vicinity or add specific friends to one‘s friends list- without Facebook etc.

Any updates to share? Interested to add friends but I don't have a FB account.

Pls ... I do not like Facebook or any other social network. But I like friends in Waze.

Agree - I don't use facebook (I have an actual life rather than an online one) and want to simply add family wazers for things like convoy trips - you know, the kind of thing TomTom has had for years now,

Agree completely, FB is a political tool, not a social media platform.

After June 2020 this feature is gone from my app. Before that I searched for my iPhone contacts 60% of my destination searches. Please let waze search through my iPhone contacts

For all who are wondering ... Waze actually expanded the capability to connect to any one in your phone contacts list - you don't have to use the Facebook thing at all. You can share your drives, send locations etc. with anyone you want - the Friends section can just be left completely alone.

If Facebook's endorsement is helping Waze make ends meet then I am all for it, but otherwise, having Waze connect to Facebook friends is something Waze should totally dump and replace. It was a good feeling to be able to connect via Waze with select friends purposefully. This functionality exists slightly through the recent shared contacts that show up when you share a drive, but it would be better for Waze friends to be able to be selected and front and center in the friends portion of the app (and no Facebook!)

Just installed Waze, wanted to add my gf but I find out it's Facebook only. No way. I'll use it solo then.

Most of my Facebook friends are not really my "friends" at all, just people I interface with on Facebook. My Waze friends are on Waze. I don't want to compromise my privacy by revealing to Waze who my Facebook friends are, and vice versa.

Dear WAZE Sir or Ma’am,
I really like your app and enjoy using WAZE; however, FB is losing favor with many and people are distancing themselves from the Social Media giant. How difficult is it for you to “unhook” from them and allow WAZE friends to stand on their own. If one post could open your eyes, let it be this one. Stand on your own two feet “ditch the Berg”. I did on July 4th, 2020 - Freedom from Facebook day.

I used to be able to track my son as he drove in to visit on Waze. I do not use Facebook. How can I track him?

I think you guys are forcing the use of facebook friends to encourage your users to actually try Google Maps... Well played.
