Slow down & move over warning for Emergeny Responders
Warn motorists of Emergency Responders (police cars, tow trucks, ambulances) with a Slow Down Move Over warning. Lives are being lost at alarming rates and any support of the move over laws are greatly appreciated.

It can be really stressful driving on busy streets when emergency vehicles are nearby. I often find myself trying to stay alert and give enough space, but sometimes sudden alerts would really help drivers respond safely. Having a system that notifies us to slow down or move over could make the roads much safer for everyone. Even during routine trips, like when I’m using services like https://bnlbostonlimo.com/ for city travel, it’s comforting to know that alerts like this could prevent accidents and keep responders safe.

Feature Request: “Slow Down & Move Over” Warning for Emergency Responders
Description
Add an in-app or on-device warning that alerts motorists when they are approaching emergency responders stopped on the roadside (e.g., police cars, tow trucks, ambulances, fire trucks). Why It Matters
Emergency responders and roadside workers are losing their lives at alarming rates due to drivers failing to slow down or move over.
Many regions already have “Move Over” laws, but drivers often aren’t aware until it’s too late.
A proactive alert could save lives by reminding drivers to take immediate action.
How It Could Work
When navigation detects an emergency vehicle stopped on or near the road, a “Slow Down & Move Over” notification is displayed or announced.
Could be based on crowd-sourced reports, integrated traffic data, or connected emergency responder systems.
Impact
Increases driver awareness.
Supports compliance with existing laws.
Protects first responders, tow operators, and stranded motorists.

I completely support this idea. Having a clear alert for emergency responders or roadside workers would really improve safety. A distinct symbol with an audible warning could make drivers more aware and give them time to react properly. It feels like a simple feature that could make a big difference in preventing accidents.

Totally agree and should be a standard Waze feature. Any traffic incident that involves vulnerable road users (pedestrians) out of their vehicles on foot including ES, Tow trucks, first responders. road users etc, should attract a different type of traffic incident ahead symbol that activates an audible tone to all traffic 1km upstream reminding them to "Move over slow down". This provides traveller information and attracts the attention of the road user prior to the incident scene allowing a change in driver behaviour.

Slow down & move over—it’s not just a rule, it saves lives. Emergency responders face real dangers on the road, yet too many drivers ignore the risk. Is awareness the issue, or is following this law as tough for some as beating a https://geometrydash2.co Geometry Dash level?

Multiple states are now enforcing "Move Over/Slow Down" for ALL stopped vehicles on shoulder with flashing lights. FL, TN, & VA are some states that have enacted these changes this year. I think it should be considered that "Disabled Vehicle" be split into "Abandoned Vehicle" (NOT subject to move over laws) and "Vehicle on Shoulder (w/ Lights/Cones/Ped present)" (IS subject to move over laws). That way, mobile construction zones can also be accounted for in addition to breakdowns, police, EMS, and wrecker services.

Rather than needing to report, Waze should automatically po-up something on screen when an emergency vehicle is within a certain distance, e.g. 1km. That way you know to keep a look out for fire brigade, ambulance, or similar.

I don't think Waze should be focused on integrating different laws. It's a navigation app not a driver aid.

As a Traffic Incident Management Service provider on a high speed motorway it is critical that this function be activated. Unlike Emergency Services we are not allowed to display flashing red/blue lights but have to deal with vehicle fires/medical episodes/person at risk of self harm. We are only allowed to display amber flashing lights. Road users do not move over or slow down when they see amber lights. We have a 2% road user compliance to posted speed limits. Trigger a 300m advance audible warning of "Move over slow down" would help my staff work safer.

extension that would essentially alert the driver about the emergency vehicles like an ambulance that are within a certain distance, this would save many lives and make emergency transport more functional.

A version of waze for emergency services. Able to show hydrant Locations, AED, Water Points, Gates, User Alerts, Traffic Levels and Emergency Vehicle Only Points as well as using the vehicles location and route to alert drivers of an approaching emergency vehicle.

Sirens and lights should be enough to make you move over.. with plenty of time people just happened to freeze and don't know where to go..it will take too long and the emergency vehicles will already have passed.. and don't forget sometimes they take left and right turns and get off exit so it's pointless

Make sure the feature has the ability to make which side of the road the emergency vehicle is stopped on.

The emergency button should include medical emergency so that other wazers (who are qualified medical practioners/ qualified first aiders) can stop and assist.
With the emergency button, users can either choose waiting for medical help, or driving to hospital.
If they chose driving to hospital, they will be suggested nearby hospitals. they can also activate emergency mode and other wazers nearby will be notified (emergency vehicle incoming, pls give way) that he is incoming and give way. This can be useful to those in need of medical attention and ambulances/fire trucks
Of course, there should be guidelines implemented on using this feature so that users don't exploit it. For example, while using this feature, the wazer have to turn on emergency signals and stick to the emergency lane/first lane unless it is ambulance/fire engine
If wazer is caught to have been violating guideline, via reports from multiple wazers, their account will be terminated and legal actions may be taken (according to country)

Already implemented for report crash or police. Maybe emergency services could be added.
1) emergency vehicles are fitted with LOUD sirens if you ear them you should be moving over
2) at any point on a map emergency vehicles will be present for 5min or less by the time the report is made would have passed
3)cannot predict reliably know the route of emergency vehicles.Suggested approach:
1) Get agreement from emergency services to publish their route on waze and alert users based on route.
2)Add emergency vehicle flag to the police flag.Agree a better solution is needed. But i don't think Waze can fix the issue.

Cut it out with the dang ads. I'll be finagling my map *while driving* because there's an ad for McDonald's 16 miles away. The app tells us specifically "NOT" to Waze and drive. I am trying not to, truly.
"You can always pay for the premium ad free ap!" Ya well, I could always switch back to Google maps too.
