  1. Detect when Traffic has cleared with volunteers

Reports of bad traffic persist long after the condition has cleared. Maybe Waze could send volunteer ‘sacrificial lambs’ through heavy traffic areas to monitor traffic, maybe even pay them?

  2. Wazing colleagues daily with my car

I drive a car daily to work morning and evening. (3 empty seats)

I have 3 other colleagues that I can pick up during morning and go together at work in the same area.

Idea proposal: I want to plan in advance (1day earlier for example) a route to my work/ school and my work/school colleagues to join in the planned routes. The colleagues must see my GPS position when I start and when I am approaching them.
Everything to choose inside the app.

It means 3 cars less on the road during one day!

  3. Add function to calculate how many hours I want to travel before stopping.

Add a function to add a number of hours you wish to travel toward your destination so you can select a hotel in that city for the night.

Frequently traveling across country and trying to select a hotel on the fly can be a problem because I have no idea where I plan to stop. If I could just say I want to travel 6 or 8 hours it could suggest to me some possible towns or cities to stop in allowing me to do a quich search for a hotel in the area that is pet friendly for instance.

  4. Neighborhood/City patrol control gamification using waze

    New suggestion of Waze functionality.

My suggestion is simple and very useful for various types of business.
Using a map and a specific route to complete as a neighborhood area or entire city, you can create an application (gamification), for example: for a local security guy with a car that needs to fill a number of streets to check during a night shift, or a police patrol or a garbage collector, etc.

This application can sinalize the % complete or measure efficiency by speed, streets missing , has control points and others functionalities and can also provide visibility to a…

  5. Sharing Routes With Friends

The sharing tool from Whatsapp is not so accurate, so it would be very nice to have something to like that but functional. The main idea is an option that you could save the actual route that you're running and export this to your friends, it would be very useful for trips to countryside and rural areas. And in urban areas sometimes you may not want the shorter or the faster way but the safer way. - general

  6. WAZE navigation system could be adapted to the nation's railroad netword where it could become a new-technology Positive Train Control.

Railroad Safety: a Ten Billion Dollar Boondoggle
    Carl E. Nash, Ph.D.
Derailments and collisions between trains are spectacular. Their economic and environmental consequences are considerable and they kill and injure people. In response, over the past forty years, pressed by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Congress the railroads have been implementing Positive Train Control (PTC) systems to reduce the potential for these crashes.
Actually, U.S. railroads are quite safe for passengers. An average of only 5 people die in train crashes each year: slightly more than are killed in motor vehicle crashes in…

  7. IOS - Please add option for thicker roads

I am driving in dense areas (Paris in France). Would it be possible to have a thicker road display because sometimes I can't differentiate the purple from other roads. Thanks

  8. Feedback on poor service

App takes really long time to search for address's compare to other services like google maps.

During a recent Natural disaster my local city faced, We got spam blocked from marking all the pot holes and hazards that were created and other road issues. Honestly it capped at 6-8 reports. We had 100's.

Additionally all the alerts made disappeared after 2 days even though they were all still present and users in the area kept say they were still their.

Furthermore the red light camera notification keeps turning my music off, and there's no options to change how that works…

  9. Search along current route changed?

During a route, Waze used to search along the current route for my search term and give results +minutes off route but now it seems to have just changed to +minutes away from current location. If I am leaving Chicago on a 1 hour drive into the suburbs and I would like to find ice cream along my route, now I have to wait until outside of the city in the area I think there might be one to start searching whereas before it would give me locations say 30 mins along the route but which ice cream is 0…

  10. I'm losing faith!

I travel from Folsom CA to the San Francisco/OAkland area about once per month. On a good day, it can be done in less than 2 hours. Several times recently, the suggested route was far more than that. For example, last night I was traveling from Oakland, leaving at around 1045pm. It is a distance of 105 miles, most of it a straight northeast shot down the highway. The Waze route wanted me to take a 149 mile circuitous route which would get me there at 1:04 am. I ignored that and took my chances going straight and got there…

  11. Marking roads as non-allowed transit routes

In Sweden quite a few roads are prohibited from use when it comes to transit routes, usually because they run through densely populated areas and school zones. Using these prohibited routes will get you a fine if caught.

I live in São Paulo and we have streets prohibited for truck traffic, it would be interesting to have a warning like there is on rotation days, so that trucks do not circulate in prohibited areas.

  13. Automatic link to an emergency center

Areas of emergency and responsible for them is a regional hotline and not police for example Highway 6 and Shomron
It would be good to have an automatic link to the relevant hotline when traveling on this road.

  15. Inform drivers of vehicles on side of road

I'm driving in one direction and inform other Waze drivers of a vehicle on my side, but when I'm heading back, I notice that the vehicle I tagged earlier is gone. I would like to be able to have the option to click "not there". This goes for police as well because there are times where a cop is posted, but when I get to the area, it's gone. I believe people are just posting that a vehicle or cop is there as a " joke". There should be a way to stop that as well. Send me an…

  16. Reduce size of lower notification box

Lower Notification bar too high and wide:
The lower bar that shows ETA, time and Km left occupies too much area of the screen, hiding vital information very often.
When there is a warning, like for example, an imminent radar, the notification box gets even bigger and covers like 1/3 of the screen, hiding something as vital as the max. speed allowed.
The lower bar could display the same info using one third or even less screen space than it uses now. I suggest you to reduce its size and maybe keep it in the left lower corner to allow…

  17. "Blind" Report Entry

I have an idea about how to make Waze truly "blind" -- i.e. how to use it to post accurate and detailed notices without ever having to look at the device (or look away from traffic).

The way it works right now is you tap the Report Icon and then a screen appears with a number of options. For most options there are suboptions, and then you have to send the report for it to make it visible to other Wazers. This means a minimum of FOUR times you must glance at your phone in order to report something. However,…

  18. Add option to avoid specific streets in navigation

Sometimes I want to avoid a specific street or area due to police controls, protests, or personal reasons. These are not always reported in Waze, so the app doesn’t know to avoid them.

I suggest adding a setting where users can select certain streets or zones to avoid, either temporarily or permanently. This way, Waze can calculate alternate routes that respect these preferences.

It could be similar to the existing “Avoid tolls” or “Avoid highways” options, but more customizable. Maybe a long-press on the map or a list where we add “Streets to Avoid”.

This would give drivers more control…

  19. WiFi for CarPlay/AndroidAuto and Phone for Data

The key point here is that
I HAVE NOT SUBSCRIBED TO MY CAR's ONSTAR DATA PLAN

    1. my iPhone is able to connect to the car over WiFi for Apple Car Play
    2. Waze is able to operate through "WiFi Car Play" on my car's infotainment system
    3. This is key: THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE A DATA PLAN. So while I'm connected to the car's local area network (LAN) my phone does not have wide area network (WAN) data through the car's WiFi.
    4. Since the phone is connected to the car over WiFi, Waze thinks it should have WAN data and doesn't…

  20. Clean up Navigation route

Make your navigation route easier to see in congested areas by removing all the stuff not on your route. When using navigation, remove alerts, users, and traffic that are not on the identified route. Also, allow for traffic condition to be seen under the navigation route.
