1. Weighted position marker

   I use 2D, north-up moving map displays. It would be better to not have my vehicle position marker in the center but weighted off center where I can see more of the map of where I am headed and not where I have been.

2. Always show turns as text in addition to icons

   At some point, the turn by turn directions above the map in the app replaced the text that spelled out each state or county route number with an icon of the road sign. For instance, a turn onto Texas FM 1960 just shows the roadside sign, which is a solid white outline of the state of Texas on a black background, with the number 1960 written in black inside the outline. The entire icon on my car's display is a square maybe a quarter inch tall, which means the text--usually 3-4 digits--inside the outline of Texas is nearly impossible to read. While I know what the route numbers are when driving locally, I have missed turns when driving outside my normal range because I could not make out the number inside the icon. Icons are fine but please add text back to the turn by turn directions to spell out the route numbers.

3. Provide opportunity for users to test before you make any "improvements"

   Recently an update was made in ROUTES display. It is worse than the original, and support team calls it improvement. When on "maps" it used to have color distinct separation, options were on top of the screen in smaller bubbles so you could click and see everything on one screen to select. Now first option is on the bottom in the big bubble, and you have to pull it up to see other suggested routes, which changes from map to list, so it's a lot of clicking back and forth. VERY user unfriendly. Not sure who gets these ideas and just implements them as an improvement without user input. Very frustrating. It case off these types of changes, it would be great to have an option to go back to the classic version, or however you wanna call it. I used this feature a lot, and now, it is very inconvenient to use.

4. 2 major bugs affecting Carplay

   For many months now Waze has had 2 infuriating bugs in Carplay

   1) Stops dynamically rerouting if I try to check alternative routes. To get it to return to normal I have to close the alternative routes screen on my car's infotainment screen (OK, that's normal), but then I also need to pick up and unlock my phone so I can close the alternative routes display on the phone as well. Until I do that, Waze gets stuck following the highlighted route and stops rerouting if I deviate from the highlighted route. It took me MONTHS to figure out what was stopping it from re-routing.

   2) Aspects of the phone screen are in day mode even though it's configured to be permanent night mode. The only way to resolve this is to select day mode in the settings menu, then select night mode again.

   Both bugs are 100% reproducible every time.

5. Speed Limit indicators on map

   It would add to safer driving to have speed limit changes show up as standard indicators on the map while driving, meaning seeing them approach just like any other indicator on the map.

   Current issues/reasons:
   1. In South Africa we have many areas where the speed limit road signs are missing. I count four that are missing on my daily route alone, and this is extremely dangerous with frequent sudden braking necessary immediately after realizing the speed limit has changed without prior notice.
   2. There are often speed cameras directly after a speed limit change, which is a nice little dirty trick used by our often-corrupt traffic department officers, with lots of easy to find dashcam footage online to attest to just this one issue.
   3. Better preparation for speed transitions - Advanced warning allows drivers to gradually adjust speed rather than making abrupt changes, which reduces the risk of rear-end collisions from following vehicles.
   4. Unfamiliar route safety - When driving in new areas, drivers may not know local speed limit patterns and could easily miss changes, especially when traffic signs are missing. This is especially important for tourists or business travelers.
   5. Night driving visibility - Speed limit signs can be harder to spot in low-light conditions, while the navigation display remains clearly visible.
   6. Weather-related visibility - During rain, fog, or other weather conditions that reduce visibility, physical signs may be obscured while the digital display remains clear.
   7. Standardized information - Eliminates confusion from damaged, faded, or vandalized speed limit signs that may be difficult to read accurately. Additionally, it is much easier to follow the navigation map when speed limit information is displayed in the familiar indicator format that drivers are already accustomed to using.

   This has previously been suggested very long ago (https://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59223-waze-suggestion-box/suggestions/10519629-speed-limit-indication-on-map), but without much motivation given. The response of the Waze Team was not helpful, as the issues were not addressed. Since this is a safety issue more than a nice-to-have feature (at least in my country), I believe it requires more attention from the developers.

6. Points of acceptance for individual fuel cards (DKV, ARAL, Shell...)

   It would be enormous added value for company car drivers if they could select specific gas stations or the acceptance points for individual fuel cards. It would be helpful here, for example, to be able to select the appropriate acceptance point (DKV, UTA, ARAL, Shell...) in the settings so that you can already see the suitable gas stations on the map while driving. In this context, it would of course also be great if I could choose at any location that I would like to fill up at an ARAL acceptance point, for example, and then navigate there. DKV, for example, has its own app, which works very well. ARAL and Shell, on the other hand, should actually be able to display the acceptance points in their apps, but unfortunately this does not work at all. And there is one more app on the smartphone that would otherwise be superfluous.

   Dear Waze Team,

   Currently, when approaching a toll plaza, many drivers are unsure where the RFID, SmartTAG, or cash lanes are located. This often leads to last-minute lane changes, causing traffic congestion and, at times, dangerous situations.

   Suggestions for Improvement:
   Toll Logo on the Map

   When a driver is approaching a toll plaza, display a small toll logo on the map to indicate its presence.
   Alternatively, provide a small pop-up notification when nearing a toll.
   Lane Positioning for RFID Users

   Show a box displaying the approximate position of the RFID lane (e.g., "RFID is at lane 9/10") when a user gets close to a toll.
   This will allow drivers to merge into the correct lane in advance, reducing last-minute lane switching.
   Preferred Payment Mode Setting

   Introduce an option where users can select their preferred toll payment method, such as:
   SmartTAG
   RFID
   Touch 'n Go (TNG)
   Cash
   Based on this preference, Waze can highlight or suggest the best lane to take before reaching the toll.
   With these improvements, I believe Waze can greatly enhance the driving experience for Malaysian users, making toll navigation smoother and safer.

9. UI Update For Better Visualisation Route Alternative

   There is a UX/UI design issue in the software after the update to version 5.11.5.1.
   Before this version, the route options screen was larger and better organized, allowing a complete, simple, and practical view of all three route alternatives after defining a route.

   After the 5.11.5.1 update, the route alternatives display became smaller and narrower, with larger fonts, forcing users to scroll through the reduced screen area in order to select a route while driving. Furthermore, to view more information about a route, it is now necessary to scroll to select it, click once to open it, and then click again on “More details.”

   As it stands, this design requires excessive attention and manual scrolling while driving, which significantly increases the risk of an accident. Honestly, it has become much worse compared to the previous versions, which was simpler, more practical, and safer. I have photos os these two screen to a better clarification about the issue.

10. Feature Suggestion: “Group Ride / Buddy Mode” for Safer and More Connected Travel

    To the Waze Team,

    Good day! I am a longtime Waze user, and I truly appreciate how your app continues to innovate in keeping drivers safe and informed. I would like to suggest a new feature that I believe would greatly improve the experience of many users, especially those who travel together.

    I would like to propose a “Group Ride Mode” or “Buddy Mode” where users traveling as a group such as friends, families, and motorcycle convoys can see each other in real time directly on the Waze map. Many riders and drivers often travel together, and having this integrated feature would bring a big advantage in terms of convenience and safety.

    Below are the features that I believe would make this mode extremely useful:

    Proposed Features for Group Ride / Buddy Mode

    1. Real-Time Location Sharing
       Show the live position of each group member on the Waze map using icons or initials.

    2. Distance Gap Indicator
       Display how far each buddy is ( “350m behind,” “1.2 km ahead”).

    3. Re-route Notifications
       If a member takes a different route, the group receives a small alert such as:
       “Alex re-routed now 2.1 km away.”

    4. Group Voice Chat (Push-to-Talk)
       A simple walkietalkie style voice feature for quick updates during the drive.

    5. Group ETA Comparison
       Show the estimated time of arrival for every member to help coordinate stops and arrival times.

    6. Battery Level Indicator
       Notify group members if someone has low battery to avoid surprises when someone drops offline.

    7. Speed Status Sync (Privacy-Safe)
       Show simple speed indicators like: Stopped, Slow, Normal, Fast (no exact speed numbers needed).

    8. “Regroup Alert” Button
       Allows one member to send a signal to the group to slow down or meet at the next stop.

    9. Privacy Controls
       Group access via invite link or code only.
       Option for members to switch to invisible mode anytime.

    10. Emergency/SOS Ping
        A quick SOS button that alerts all members if someone stops unexpectedly or needs assistance.

    Why This Feature is Valuable?
    - This feature would be especially helpful for:
    - Motorcycle groups and riding clubs
    - Family convoys during long trips
    - Friends traveling to the same destination
    - Delivery riders working in teams

    Integrating this into Waze would make group travel safer, more organized, and more enjoyable, while also setting Waze apart from other navigation apps that currently don’t offer this level of real-time group coordination.

11. Waypoints

    Would be great to have the option of refining a route by inputting waypoints. It is noted that there is an ability to input a single 'stop' but the time to that stop is displayed rather than the time to the destination - you need to tap the bottom bar periodically to check your destination ETA. So please include an option to input waypoints and to have the final desti ETA permanently displayed

12. Improvement needed

    I was checking out waze and I was really impressed... I felt like the waze experience was incomplete without a proper feedback. Hence I decided to give you guys a few suggestions on it: 1) Pls include downloading of maps of a certain area or preferably offline caching of Entire maps. 2) I noticed that initially the direction of the heading was wrong 4 out of 5 times, thus why not included an optional magnetic correction as it will definitely remove this error.

14. Automated Incident Emergency Detection & Location Screen Change and 3 type descriptor

    Unless it is your day job, and even then, most people faced with an emergency situation either as a victim or a witness, especially in a vehicle, will suffer immense rushes of adrenaline pumping around the body, any injuries invoke confusion as delayed shock sets in.

    Is there/ can there be any rapid single panic-proof (user option selected) - such as 5 second hold of fingers on the screen in two places simultaneously or gyroscopic sudden impact detection via phone or user holds max/min volume buttons at their max point for a duration (viz like Apple power down) - depending on user settings, additionally, such detection automatically engages the phone torch in user chosen: static, various rates of flashing or SOS. An EMS (country specific) CALL single button press, combined with further settings-related onscreen depiction graphics and text of the INCIDENT LOCATION, directions to then be boldly shown in large simplistic unfussy print on the screen- displaying three of the most common used international location descriptors: 1. What Three Words 2. Long/latitude coordinates 3. descriptive language versions e.g. “I am northbound on the XYZ nn miles from the xyz slip road opposite ZYX building “ combined with options such as send via SMS option &/or turn on handset camera (where applicable) to live link the incident scene for disaster planning teams assessments if necessary. Such crisis do not offer those present with clear thought either the victims or witnesses as shock sets in, and by providing easy-read, unfussy screen display, such pinpoint accuracy, that they can recite to the other end of the call, valuable minutes will expedite all emergency services response and potentially save lives and limbs, Most of these suggestions I envisage to be user settings selected as to how the user is automatically impacted with the change of screen in such situations. It could vary from a small overlaid window with just the 3 location options, all the way to a full EMS window with all options and flashing torches. Either way, in an emergency, something will help those present in providing essential location detail in those crucial minutes. If there is to be an option for ‘voice activated control’ then the initial part should be automatic from the AI not the user, in case they are incapacitated or unable to speak; the AI should time-out to non-vocal after a period so anyone in vision of the display can see the location, in case they are unable to move, but can use their own phone to call EMS instead.

15. Entry point should not be displayed as the finish line

    When I am driving around with waze I find it infuriating that when I type an adress the finish line is on the road, and I cannot see where is the actual house (on which side of the road) (and i not only am talking about house numbers) i also think it's a quite easy fix for you.

    Sometimes we leave the house at 1 pm to head somewhere 1 hour away but want the baby to sleep for 2 hours in the car so we drive around to let me him and use Waze to tell us when we would be there for 3 pm. A baby sleeping option I could tell it I want to be there for 3 pm and it would find me a route that would take 2 hours with minimal stop light/signs to get me there.

18. The motorway sign next to the junction information on my 11" car screen is tiny.. The blue box with the mway number is really hard to read

    Everything easy to read except the name of the road when displayed on a turn off direction. Eg m25 when you see the turn junction cue... I can send a picture if you tell me where to share it

19. Android auto direction on second screen

    On the Honda Civic, the directions (i.e. a picture of a roundabout with the arrow coming out the right point) appears on the other screen behind the wheel. Google Maps correctly interfaces with this, but Waze displays every roundabout as a full U-turn, take the exit you entered on. Could this be fixed?

20. Resize directions box while connected to Android Auto

    After recent updates, the box displaying directions covers half the screen when connected to Android Auto. Please shrink the box, allow users to move it or resize it. It makes it difficult to see where you are going on the map sometimes.
