  1. Change the color of point Map Notes

Point map notes are practically invisible a majority of the time because small white circles easily disappear in aerial imagery. Any bright color other than white would be a better choice for point map notes.

  2. Schedule speed limit changes

Allow editors to schedule speed limit changes. For example during roadworks there is often a reduced speed limits. It would be useful to be able to set, in the editor, a start and finish date for these reduced speed limits. This would prevent an editor changing the speed limit and forgetting to change it back. This could be tied into tile builds so the edit is made in time for that days tile build.

  3. Notify User when PUR approved

Waze should notify the user when an editor approves or disapproves a PUR. That way, the process doesn't feel as much like a "black box" for the user.

  4. SAFEST not FASTEST route

This might not be relevant to users in very safe countries, but if you live in or travel to some South American or African countries (or even in some districts of the US), you do not necessarily want to get the fastest route, but the SAFEST one – omitting dangerous areas (like gang zones). As a concrete example, I was driving through Rio de Janeiro and Waze suddenly tried to reroute me through a Favela, because it was supposedly a few minutes "faster" (something, travel guides and the State Department even explicitly warn about). In fact, there were already news…

  5. Rerouting optional

In the beginning of a ride, the app will let you chose between several routes. However, even if you purposely selected a certain route, it will automatically reroute you, if it found a "faster" route. Sometimes though, you do not want that because you chose a certain route on purpose. Unfortunately, other than in Google Maps (where you get a notification that a faster route was found that you can dismiss) there is no option in Waze to reject such rerouting. This can sometimes even lead to dangerous situations, like if you get rerouted through an unsafe neighborhood.

  6. Add an “Aerial Traffic Enforcement / Aerial Patrol” report type.

Currently Waze users often report helicopters monitoring traffic using generic police or hazard reports, which creates inaccurate map data.

A dedicated temporary aerial-surveillance event would improve report quality and traffic awareness, especially on highways where helicopter presence influences driving patterns over large areas.

    Suggested characteristics:

    temporary event
larger visibility radius than regular police reports
    optional direction of travel
    low-noise notification style
    community confirmation required

  7. Object/pothole ahead - option to pick a lane

It would be nice to have an option to report the specific lane/side of the road a pothole, hazardous object, roadkill, etc. is on!

  9. Alpha Sort Shield picker display order

Need to alpha sort Shield Picker and place all generics (County Road) at the top. This was fixed shortly after the NA MMU in Seattle, but has reverted in subsequent releases.

  12. Associate permanent hazards with a path

When using permanent hazards, they sometimes only apply to some of the traffic on a give segment. An example would be a freeway segment where oncoming traffic from one ramp, and exiting traffic from the freeway merge on a specific segment between on and off ramps. If we add the multiple lanes merging hazard, it will alert for both groups but also all traffic that continues on the freeway even though it does not impact them. Instead, I have it mapped on the on-ramp but not for exiting traffic to alert to this often challenging merge zone. (https://waze.com/en-US/editor?env=usa&lat=32.80350&lon=-116.95585&marker=true&zoomLevel=18&segments=6946382)

  13. Add “Speed bump” as a map error report option

Add “Speed bump” as a map error report option

It would be useful to allow users to report speed bumps as a map error instead of only as a general hazard.

Currently, speed bumps are often missing or inconsistently mapped, and reporting them through broad categories reduces accuracy and slows down data correction.

    Proposed feature:

    • Add “Speed bump missing” or “Incorrect speed bump” under Map error reports
    • Allow users to pin the exact location on the map
    • Optional details (type, size, visibility)

    Benefits:

    • more precise map data
    • faster correction of missing road features
    • improved routing accuracy and driver awareness

    This…

  14. It would be very helpful to add a real-time GPS location marker in the Waze Map Editor.

It would be very helpful to add a real-time GPS location marker in the Waze Map Editor.

Currently, when centering the map, there is no indicator showing the editor’s actual GPS position. This makes it harder to align edits with real-world locations, especially when verifying map data on-site.

    Proposed feature:

    • Display a live GPS marker (similar to the mobile app)
    • Optional toggle (on/off)
    • Auto-center or quick jump to current position

    Benefits:

    • Faster and more accurate mapping
    • Easier field verification
    • Reduced errors when adding or editing road features

This would significantly improve usability for editors working directly in the field.

  17. Absent Segments in Waze

There are people using Waze moving through segments NOT YET drawn.
KoiFish apparently can not trigger a warning for us to create such segments.

Examples (enable GPS points to see)
