Changing this to Not Planned, as it doesn't fit on our roadmap in the near future. We'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

An error occurred while saving the comment Sherlock McGyver commentedThis is the only sensical post about HOV routes. People with a lack of knowledge about the current accuracy of the GPS system don't understand that Waze isn't going to be accurate enough to know exactly which lane they are in, although that accuracy is very near in our future.
The real issue is when certain roadways are HOV ONLY at certain times of the day, like Rt. 66 East into Washington DC. The entire numerous mile section of road, not just a single lane is HOV at certain hours, yet Waze is consistent at trying to shuttle me through there without providing the option to avoid it without me rerouting myself, which it should by now be programmed to know.Sherlock McGyver supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Sherlock McGyver commentedSounds more like YOU are outdated. I don't even know of a major carrier that doesn't have a cheap, unlimited texting plan. Why would anyone pay for texts, anymore? I mean, 2016, bro.

An error occurred while saving the comment Sherlock McGyver commentedI also agree with Gamma, the patrol officer who commented on how "speeding is infrequently reckless". Even speeding at what is consider "reckless by speed" is hardly reckless. Speeding in statistics is hardly even worth mentioning as a cause of accident, let alone death. Also, if government would simply set a maximum Federal speed limit for all states not-to-exceed, and require car manufacturers to govern all vehicles sold in the US at that limit (perhaps about 90 mph, or so) then they would do far better than all of the needless patrols and ticketing for profit. Once cars become more connected, this will even be outdated, and cars will self-regulate their speeds based on geofencing, which will know what zone the car is in based on GPS, know the desired speed limits and be able to govern on-the-fly.
An error occurred while saving the comment Sherlock McGyver commentedThat's a great idea to have as an Advanced Option. Show the locations that police are often reported based on historical data. Genius. DO IT!

An error occurred while saving the comment Sherlock McGyver commentedAgreed, while the other commenter thinks that bicycles would create a problem, he doesn't seem to understand it is merely an ESTIMATE, the way that Waze currently creates an ESTIMATE for your arrival. The only difference is using years of historical data that would create a nearly flawless estimate of your true arrival time and which route will be best at any time of day. This is entirely within the realm of possibility and would vastly improve transportation. Another thing is to take the data that is pouring in of current users and chosen routes to add yet another layer of accuracy to the prediction based on how many known vehicles are using the routes and then extrapolating that with a margin of error for unknown vehicles, which really takes us back to the historical data portion of it.

Hey,
Please note we're changing the status of this suggestion to Not right now, since we finalized our plans for 2024 and this idea won't be implemented this year.
We hope to include it in our plans for later down the line.
Thanks!
An error occurred while saving the comment Sherlock McGyver commentedIt should also include mileage data. Whenever a user starts an account or at any time they wish to input their current mileage, it could log mileage, as well. Each user would, of course, need to be able to create vehicle profiles that they could select from at the beginning of a trip.

An error occurred while saving the comment Sherlock McGyver commentedIf this isn't already possible, it should be. You should be able to log onto a web page and view your trips and position/time markers (raw data) like with Google Locations services. The issue with the Google Location services mapping is it is often inaccurate and draws straight lines or even misses important data. Improvement is needed, and Waze could take this over.

What we are aiming to do here is speed based alerters.
An error occurred while saving the comment Sherlock McGyver commentedIn fact, many times there is no warning, especially if there are multiple reports in succession, only one will be reported, which requires the user to be distracted yet again by touching the symbol in order to give it a thumbs up, etc.
They actually do do this, only it doesn't seem to work all the time, and the constraints on distance are a bit too short, it should be expanded a bit more, but far less than you are suggesting.
