Add friends without facebook
Why am I forced to use facebook in order to add friends to Waze?? I don't use facebook, 75% of the world's population does not use facebook at all (and more with every day). Is keeping fb afloat Waze's most important purpose?
Anyway, I don't want facebook friends on Waze, I want Waze friends on Waze and facebook friends on facebook, don't try to mix a driving app with a social network.
Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

Restore sharing and friends WITHOUT VERIFICATION.
My friends don't need me to "verify" with waze

Integrate with Xmpp Texting. Search for base JID.
No one I know uses sms texting.

I refuse to use "social" voyeurism data mining sites, too.
I want a idontusesms account activation option
Sms is ludicrously expensive especially as now IMS routed.
There is a high ranked suggestion here for
Xmpp Texting
That's a RespectMYprivacy social option would endorse

Take this one step further and allow searches by USERNAME.

If you are concerned with privacy as you claim you ought rethink how facebook/twitter/skype function- and the less apparent costS.

I agree. I don't use Facebook, and I would love to be able to add people not in my personal contacts, or from Twitter.

To be able to access Twitter friends/connections from Waze. Currently Waze only offers Facebook or personal phone connections.

This was not completed! Moto x does not show any option to avoid the phone # crap.

I completely agree. Then, you could send the SMS with 2 or 3 "clicks" (by the way the name of my wife was in a list right there, I just had to select her name and press "send"). That was a great system. Now, it's terrible and dangerous

The changes made are Google inspired privacy issues. This will be the downfall, which Google may intend. I look forward to someone else doing this who won't sell out. Open street maps + amazon ec2 = it could happen

@John Ostrowick : You still can do that in the new version. Just follow the "almost hidden" link on the bottom of the page when you go in "Send Location". You have "More sending option".

I preferred the previous arrangement where you could share your drive with ANYONE, via SMS/iMessage, instead of them having to actually be signed in to waze at the time. Now, idiotically, I can't tell my wife how long I'm going to take to get home... why? Because she's not got waze open, signed in, and her life history and private data sold with her soul to you... Lame. Please fix.

Btw, I wanted the "not putting in the phone number" thing.

I, 100% agree with this idea. Most games and apps don't require a social or email account to add friends for free. Why can't that happen to Waze? A similar app called Moovit has the same thing and I hate it. Adding to that, I don't want to put my phone number up so that I can go on the friends list. It'll be like identity theft.I just want it to happen.

I think i'm not the only one thinking about that. Why everytime applications ask for your private datas. As Waze is a very useful app, it should be open for everyone. Therefore, it would be only a possibility to add friend by phone number, contact list, Facebook or twitter and not an obligation. For those you don't want to give the phone number or something else, it would be great to add someone by the login account or a nickname like in Skype. You ask for a login and Nickname, why don't you use it ?

It would be great. Why can't we simply add a friend by the waze login of the account instead of using social network or phone number (that give access to your contact list => private life problem)
