Notifications for Roads with Variable Speed Limits
Lots of UK motorways have variable speed limits. Obviously these change a lot so there’s no way we can have a live map of them, but as you go on to a road with a variable speed limit it would be nice to get a notification saying something like “Entering Variable Speed Limit Area. The legal speed limit may be different to the limit shown in Waze.” Another useful notification could be on the approach to traffic or around reported broken down cars, a notification asking the lines of “Hazard/Traffic reported on the road ahead, pay attention to Variable…

Change from Popups to small notification Banners
Popups are quite intrusive. For instance, while Waze is recalculating, which can take a while sometimes, I need to see the map to figure out the next turn quickly. There are many other examples of intrusive popups, i.e. Danger ahead, Speed camera ahead, etc.
Popups should be shown as banners. A banner should be a rectangle less than an inch tall and as wide as the screen, aligned to the top or bottom of the screen. So, the rest of the screen would not be hidden at all, but would be instead completely available and usable as always.

The option to be able to mark speed bumps or potholes on the map for yourself or for everyone
Mark for yourself or others the areas where there are speed bumps or potholes to reduce speed in advance before reaching that area marked on the map and be careful, since in Mexico there are many speed bumps that are not marked, in addition potholes are common, and the fact of being able to reduce speed in advance would make many drivers take better care of their vehicle.

Safest route i.t.o. crime
In countries like South Africa there are certain high crime areas that should be avoided. If you read the news there are frequent reports of tourists especially, taking a short route unknowingly through a dangerous area and becoming a victim of crime or worse being murdered (sadly this is true). It would be great if one could select a "safest route" option which may not necessarily be the quickest. PLEASE.

Waze Application Shut Down Conflict
On an iPhone -- there is a scroll up feature on the screen which allows access to several APPLE setting conditions. On the WAZE application, the SHUT-DOWN or TURN-OFF feature is near the proximity of the Apple SWIPE UP (screen) location. The CLOSE swipe should be located away from the Apple Swipe area.

allow navigation voice to interrupt call
some people want this disabled, but i rely on navigation instructions in unknown areas.
i prefer waze voice amidst my phone call rather than fly by my exit while someone jabbers on my Bluetooth speakerphone
make it a toggle option to please both camps
and xmpp text those in my non "social" media friends (i have real friends)
allow audio blurbs to interrupt also (jingle)

use past traffic statistics when calculating routes
waze could save statistics about average time it takes to pass each street at different times of the day (but only on work days - not vacations or weekends where traffic patterns are different). this past statistics can be valuable when routing - today, waze could lead me through areas that are more congestion prone since at the moment these areas are quite vacant. using past statistics when routing would show that by the time I'll get to these areas, there'll probably be a congestion so other paths might be better.

Save location maps by custom folders & sub-folders
I think I have hit the limit in saving space for Waze location maps. I like to introduce custom folders for saving locations by country > state > district > areas.

User warning on risk areas slums, dangerous streets and communities with high assault index
suggest that the waze application, alert the users regarding air Risks in the states of Rio de Janeiro and sao paulo, kind of a highlight in places like slums, poor communities, streets with high rates of robbery and theft. Warn already on the streets giving access entries of the community, street cumidade such access to such high index of theft, trafficking etc.

Police alert/ aleta policia
Two days ago Barcelona suffered a terrorist attack. Police is still looking for a guy, but if people can repport where every police control is, this info useful yo avoid this controls.
I m not talking about deactivate this alert permanently. But sometines, maybe during 24 or 48 h if there is a police operation called " Cage " could be usefull if you can deactivate this alert in a area.

Off-road Trail Map Capability, the road less traveled.
There are a couple of very expensive off-road trail GPS devices for State and non OHV areas but I would love to see WAZE get into at least BLM/OHV and Fire road type of mapping.
Way points and even names of the trails. I live in California where there is many trails that the state regulates along with adopted programs from off road clubs. I'd buy an upgraded app for my WAZE if this was an option.

Preventing police removing themselves
Is there a way to prevent police removing themselves. Maybe by detecting a stationary user or removing police reports multiple times in the same area or as soon as they're posted.

Rush Hour - please show the travel time thru red.
Instead of showing the mph on red area, please show the travel time thru red.
You already have it because as soon as I get into traffic, the travel time shows up.

Shark notification
There are has been a lot of attention this season on the coast about shark attacks. As a wazer, I have my phone with me when I'm on the beach. I think it could be useful if waze could be utilized on the coasts to tag that a shark has been seen in an area, much like we are able to do now with hazards and things. This could be a first alert type of system that could send notifications to other wazers in the area.

Use another source for the maps (other than google maps)
I see that for some,the fun in waze is making and editing the map, thats cool. but in the area im in, there arent many users of waze, and there are a lot of streets. and there have been times (infact every time so far) where i have set a destination, only for it to not be found.
Some apps (mapquest) use openstreetmap maps (http://openstreetmaps.org). Do their terms of service fit better with waze terms of service?
as i understand it, that is why google maps arent used as a base.

I am using an iPhone, and am in the Detroit area. I think a useful addition to hazards would be 'debris' - I'm sure this would be popular.

Always show number of Wazers
When you first start Waze it shows the amount of Wazers around you and then goes back to saying good morning or evening. As you move into different areas it's important to know if there are plenty of other Wazers still around.
Also if it could show how many Wazers are in front of you in the direction your travelling so you know anything that is in front of you will be reported. I currently keep restarting the app so i can find out which is really annoying.
