1. The May 2023 release of Waze is terrible. Please go back to the previous version.

   Here are the problems I have observed with the May 2023 release of Waze and why I would rather go back to the previous version.
   1. It defaults to having a menu open on the left asking where you want to go with the list of your frequent destinations. I preferred the previous version where if I wanted to navigate somewhere it was easy to click the search icon and bring up this menu.
   2. The menu of locations has Home and then a list of recent places I have gone. The previous version listed Home and then WORK and then the list of recent places. I most often will click on WORK and it's not in the menu anymore.
   3. When I close the menu mentioned in 1 above and just drive, it skews the display and shows my location on the left side of the display. Then, whenever an alert pops up like "stop light camera ahead" or "railroad crossing ahead," the pop up comes up on the left side and blocks the view so I can't see where I am on the map or where the hazard is that's coming up. I would rather it left my position in the center of the display and didn't obscure my position when alerts pop up.
   4. The system is effectively useless now in a car without a touch screen. In my 2018 vehicle, I do not have a touch screen. I have a wheel I spin to highlight the different buttons on the screen and then push in on the wheel to select whatever I have highlighted. In the previous software version, when a pop up like "police reported ahead" or "road kill on road ahead" came on the screen, I could easily spin the wheel to highlight the "there" button and leave it. If I saw the police officer or road kill, I could push in on the wheel to click the "there" button on the screen. If it wasn't there, I could swist the wheel one click to highlight the "not there" button and push in on the wheel to click on the "not there" button. This functionality is completely removed by the latest Waze update. Now, when a pop-up shows up on the screen, it refreshes every couple of seconds. If I try twisting my selector wheel to highlight the "there" button, a couple of seconds later, it resets the display and my cursor goes back to the default highlighting the search magnifying glass icon. I've tried several times to click on "there" or "not there" but by the time I twist the wheel and get the cursor down to the 'there" or "not there" button on the screen, the display resets and moves my cursor back up to the magnifying glass icon again. As it pertains to paragraph 3 above, I can't click on the X to make the "railroad crossing ahead" or "traffic light camera ahead" pop-up go away. If I try to spin the wheel to get to the X to close the pop-up, by the time I get the cursor there, it resets the display again and puts my cursor back up at the magnifying glass. So I have no way to close the pop-ups, and every time a pop-up comes on screen it blocks my view of my location as I stated in paragraph 3.
   5. The whole point and original intent behind Android Auto was to make cars safer by reducing distracted driving. In the old Waze, the speedometer display included the speed limit, the current car speed, and small tick marks to show how far above or below the speed limit you were driving. The tick marks were red if you were above the speed limit or black if you were below the speed limit. It was VERY easy to very briefly glance at the screen and know if I was close to the speed limit and fine or if I was significantly above or below and needed to adjust my speed. The most recent version of Waze got rid of the tick marks. Now it's just the numbers in black or red if you're above the speed limit, but it takes just that much more attention on the display and mental engagement to determine how far off is my speed from the speed limit. The tick marks in the previous version took no mental processing and very little attention on the display. You are forcing drivers to spend more time looking at the screen by getting rid of those tick marks on the speed indication.
   6. It doesn't navigate me where I want to go anymore. In the previous version, I would say "navigate to ______" and Waze would bring up a list of destinations that it thought might match my desired location and I would click on the one I want. Now, it doesn't show me options and it just starts navigating to the WRONG place. In one example, I did a voice command "Navigate to Water Drops Car Wash" which is the name of a specific drive thru car wash just a mile away. Waze has correctly navigated me to Water Drops Car Wash in the past before the update. Now, Waze automatically started navigating me to the closest car wash that was only 0.2 miles away, but it was a self service car wash and not named Water Drops, so NOT the correct, desired destination.
   7. When I put my car in reverse, it turns the rear view camera on. When I take it out of reverse and the camera image goes away, it doesn't go back to Waze. It goes back to the Android Auto app menu and I have to tell it to go back to Waze. I realize this is likely an Android Auto problem not necessarily a Waze problem.

   I hope this feedback is constructive and helpful in improving Waze.

2. Turn Express Lanes off just like you can Toll Roads

   Please Please find a way to turn off express lanes. You did it for Tol Roads do it for express lanes. I turned off my toll road pass to see if it would help and it does not - besides there are times I want toll roads to be an option but NOT express lanes. Every day I head home it only gives me express lane options - I'm not getting a ticket for being on an express lane as a single rider and I'm unable to get around traffic becauses waze wants to assume I'm on an express lane

3. General feedback/comments

   I have a 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia. I use either Waze or Maps every time I drive. For most of my driving, I don't need any nav assist but I want to stay up to date.

   So, for about 6 years, I have been using your app. Here's a brief summary of my comments/suggestions/etc. I do NOT expect anything to change since my Alfa is a non-touchscreen setup. I have to do everything with the rotary knob.

   Years ago, you did properly support the capability to make reports. I could do it easily with minimal clicks, without even looking at the main display. Today, it's close to impossible to easily report anything. The default cursor position is now on Search instead of Report. It's several rotates to get to the Report choice so I don't bother. BTW, this is not a new problem. It has been this way for at least a year.

   If you ask if a Report is still there or not there, it's no longer a simple single cw or ccw rotation to go from There to Not There, so I no longer report. Again, this has been a problem for at least a year.

   The one-mile count down in tenth's of a mile on the driver/steering wheel display doesn't count down in tenth's. It just displays ZERO miles for the full last mile. To see the tenths countdown, I have to look at th main display. This has been a problem for at least two years.

   Related to that, I recently discovered that the mileage to go countdown between the two displays is off by one mile. In other words, when the driver display says 1 mile to go, the main display says 2. This is probably just the fact that the tenths countdown is not working.

   As you probably know, the voice maneuvers were incomplete for several years. In other words, the voice maneuver would only state the distance to go but NOT the actual maneuver. It only completed the sentence when it was the actual maneuver. Thanks for finally fixing that!

   Suggestion - You should provide more time when announcing maneuvers. They are too tight. There usually isn't enough time to make lane corrections if needed. The best way to understand what I'm talking about, try running google Maps and Waze at the same time. Maps provides enough time to make fixes. Maybe you could add the option for the user to change the time between navigation maneuvers ant the notification.

   Your maps are superior to Maps when using for overview but Maps has superior voice nav to the point that you don't have to look at the display to know what to do. It's too bad that Waze and Maps couldn't be combined in some way that users could use your maps and google's voice nav.

   The display on the Alfa Romeo is small. The police icon as an example, is about 1/8 inch in diameter. Some time ago you enlarged the overlay data that it covers a high percentage of the display. It would be nice if you could allow user to change the size of the overlay info and/or make the now black background thanslucent.

   That all said, I don't expect you to do a thing. Most of what I'm talking about has to do with the fact that I have a non-touch display. Since most displays today are touch, I understand why you wouldn't waste resources making fixes for non-touchscreen navigators. And that's why I haven't taken the time to let you know...until now.

4. Offset turn instruction

   Oftentimes at standard, perpendicular intersections, streets dead-end on one side and pick up again on the other side, offset by just a few dozen feet. For simplicity's sake and for routing, we map a lot of these as plain four-way intersections (like an italicized + sign, you could say).

   But this can be confusing for drivers, who arrive at the intersection with no special instruction and yet are forced to almost fully turn right or left. The simple four-way mapping style is appropriate when the offset would still allow a car's width to pass through without turning, but when there is no possible straight line from one segment to the next of the same name, an offset turn instruction would be a great upgrade from either no instruction or the right/immediate left instruction sequence.

   I imagine this could be done heuristically by having the app identify when the route has two opposite-direction-turns within 50 ft. of each other, or perhaps with a junction box and a custom turn instruction. The instruction could say "Take the offset turn to continue on [X St]" and the displayed icon could resemble a lowercase h without the bottom of the letter's stem.

6. Android Auto add Camera button

   Add a new camera button to Waze when using it via Android Auto.
   I've driven past new fixed and mobile cameras that I can't report as there's no camera button on the Waze display on my Audi A8 screen - there is for police, traffic, etc.

7. Add SOS waypoints

   Motorways, Highways, and interstate's can be dangerous places to be roadside walking. Display icons at each emergency roadside assistance calling points (SOS Points) for use during breakdowns/accidents/emergencies. This would make it obvious which is within the shortest walk distance so as to avoid unnecessary delays in emergencies.

8. Lane guidance colour

   The current lane guidance in Android Auto is shown such that the 1st line shows the upcoming lanes to take, and the 2nd line shows the next (i.e. then) guidance. Instead of taking up two lines, which takes up space, colour the most appropriate lane (s) in a different colour (green), and the least best lane in another colour (amber). For eg, if the upcoming highway exit is 3 lanes to the right, but the final edit is only the right most lane, colour the 3 arrows such that the right most is green, and the two other arrows in amber. That way, driver will know from a long way out that the lane to take is ultimately the right most. In the current display, drivers on unfamiliar routes can't tell which of the 3 lanes to take until it's too close. Advance information would help a lot! Actually, if the arrow can progressively change colour gradient it'll be even better

9. New ui for suggested routes is bad

   You added a new feature when requesting routs to destination - you added an intermediate display that is not useful but is annoying because you have to make another click to see the routs. I want to add pictures bus there is no possibility in your ui

    I would like you to implement the following suggestion. I'm contacting you from Spain.

    For those of us who have Android Auto in our cars, when we encounter a speed camera, Waze informs us via text on the vehicle's central display. If we're traveling at 80 km/h and have to look at the display for a second, the vehicle travels more than 20 meters. That distance is enough to cause an accident, which wouldn't happen if the warning were audible.
    Do you think this is reason enough to incorporate it into the app? I think you should consider it and add it. Many users of your app would be very grateful.

11. LANDMARKS / PLACES OF INTEREST / THEATRES / BUILDINGS

    Here's what happened last night ... I am new to LA and have been using WAZE (which I LOVE!) for 3 months. It is indescribably invaluable to me! BUT ... last night I was to attend a private screening at the Skirball Centre - I have never been there, didn't know where it was but did have the address 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd. When I entered this into WAZE on my iPhone, 4 options became available to me. One of these options said Sepulveda, Manhattan (obviously that's not the one I want, I thought ... that will be ... in Manhattan! Silly me!) The other 3 options said CA and LA but didn't display the zip code on the phone so I selected the top one presuming that it would be where I wanted to go as that has invariably been the case throughout the 3 months of perpetual usage whilst in LA . It was therefore, only when I got to 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd - MANHATTAN BEACH!!! - that I realised I was not only in the wrong place but as far away from where I needed to be at the Skirball Centre as I could be! I spent 2 and a half hours in horrible traffic and missed the screening to my great disappointment! SOOO ... here is my pro-active suggestion from last night's debacle ... IF a User submits an ADDRESS (and not the name of the place) that is linked to a famous landmark/place of interest/building/museum/theatre ... would it be possible to have a selectable option that actually displays the NAME of the place? That would ensure that what happened to me last night would not have happened - specially as we have the anomaly of there being TWO 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvds in LA! Something common to a lot of cities! I know it is a massive task but it would raise WAZE's superb facilities even higher. I realise now that - had I put Skirball Centre into my Search - the correct address would have been immediately available for me to select. But for people who don't realise this (as I didn't last night!) and who put in the address of where they're going, it would have been a terrific facility to see Skirball Centre come up as a choice - specially when there are multiple options of the address in the same city. Hope this is of help to you! I am about to return to the UK and will continue to use and spread the word to all and sundry of this wonderful Ap - it is without doubt the best of its kind! So thank you for it!

12. Haptic Feedback

    Please add haptic feedback. When I report something on the road, I would like to know from the screen vibrating that I have successfully hit the button my finger was lasted headed towards when I looked away to look back at the road. I have another driving app that uses it and I have found it to be very useful.

14. Waze client menu not entirely displayed on the screen!

    I cannot understand why my Menu popup is not completely displayed on my screen though space is wide enough to accept this (Samsung Galaxy S3 ) I only get the 2 upper rows of icons, but the lower one (Reports, My Friends and Settings) is truncated.As a result, I have to slide the menu up before being able to select "Settings" for example.
    Do other users have the same behavior for their client?

15. Phone Charging Indication while navigating with app

    It would be great to have an icon on the map display indicates that your phone is charging or plugged in while navigating with the waze app. There have been several times while driving and my phone was accidentally not correctly seated in the car charging cradle. I was navigating on battery power and the only indication was when I received a low battery warning notification from the phone OS. This can be very inconvenient when going on long drives or a safety concern when in unfamiliar areas or if one is stranded and the phone has no or low power.

    It would be great to have an icon on the map display indicates that your phone is charging or plugged in while navigating with the waze app. There have been several times while driving and my phone was accidentally not correctly seated in the car charging cradle. 16. Why is the road works warning now a generic ‘Hazard’?

    It’s important to give warnings as specific as possible so a driver concentrates on the road rather than studying a screen to find out what’s up. Forcing me to divert my attention to phone or display screen is downright dangerous. Please revert to specific warnings in the interest of road safety.

17. "Closure" function in iOS app=broken. Engaging CLOSURE displays area map with white arrows that mostly can not be selected.

    Selecting CLOSURE from UI on iOS results in a local map. This shows White Arrows and red "-" icons. Unfortunately, often, the user can NOT select on the white arrows to flag the road closure, And the UI is displaying selection of a white arrow when another, not related, white arrow is clicked on. The way it is working now the app CLOSURE function is literally not usable.. It would be very helpful if the APP were smart enough to automatically select a intersection closure based on the information that the suggested and running route was not followed and now the vehicle is following an alternative route. Ex: the selected route say turn right on an intersection but now the vehicle has passed that intersection and is going down another course, that the previously suggested route be selected in the CLOSURE display so user can just verify that, OR they select another CLOSURE white arrow.

18. Voice instructions don´t work

    Hello,

    We wanted to ask, seeming to Android version 6.0.0 and higher, the sound is not working? (Voice instructions)

    It is impractical to constantly monitor display.

    Please Do you have any solutions?

    Does not work on the new Samsung Galaxy J5 and J5 2016.

    Other functions work perfectly.

19. Add navigation options to the main screen, rather than hidden in the Settings

    Add navigation options to the main screen, rather than hidden in the Settings.

    I frequently need to check arrival times for navigation where I want to take the motorway or avoid the motorway - but the only way to change navigation options is in Settings, which is a) hard to get into when driving (trying to drive and use my phone at the same time is dangerous and/or illegal), and b) impossible to get into via Android Auto on my car's in-built display.

    Having a simple Nav settings option on the main navigation screen - particularly for Android Auto in-car, would be amazing.

    Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

20. I want you to be able to set the period during construction on the computer

    In the case of alternating one-way traffic, if you are doing construction here from the app, the display will appear temporarily, but it will disappear immediately.
    If you know the construction period, you can set it on your PC and let everyone know that the construction is underway.
