Add option to display Gas Stations (as clickable icons) on main map screen without having to use menu.
Add the option to display gas stations on the main map as clickable icons, without having to go through the several menus (i.e. menu > gas > list > map... and all the way back) to visualize surrounding stations and return to main navigation map.
Clicking the gas station icons on the main map view should allow users to "navigate" directly to the gas station and also update the fuel prices (if within range).
Showing gas stations on the main map view has two main benefits:
Updating gas prices to nearby stations becomes much easier.
The user will have the option to always be visually informed of where the nearest gas stations (and washrooms) are while driving. It therefore allows the user to drive to a nearby gas station visually (without having to touch the device), or they can click the icon to navigate to it directly.
Finally, if this is not feasible, I at least recommend having an option that makes the "Gas" menu selection show the gas stations in map view first (before list view). And also once in the "gas station" map view, there should be a quick way to get back to the main (navigation) map view. Currently you have to click three times (in the the top left) to get back to the main map view; on android this corresponds to clicking the < arrow next to "SEARCH RESULTS" then "AROUND YOU" then "NAVIGATE". That's far too much work just to get back and forth from the gas station map view.

Display the maximum speed for speed traps
It would be a great help to display the maximum speed allowed at speed traps. I don't know elsewhere, but in Brazil you have several fixed/stationary ones with a fixed maximum speed limit.

When I hit the park button, make it so that I can find my car later (with an arrow and distance) so I can find my car.
They make apps to do this and Waze almost has everything you need. It could be great if Waze suggested it after you stop moving for a period of time at your destination.

Re-Organize Speed Trap Buttons
When editing the map a lot of stationary speed traps are reported but not approved. They are reported on positions where mobile speed traps (Police notifications) are / would be. As a user who only uses the client I would first go to speed trap and report it instead of reporting a police hazard. The result is, that this trap is not reported unless it is approved. Another button in the speed trap menu would help, for instance "mobile speed trap" with a time stamp. The same button can be shown in the police menu for the users who are used to it.
Also a possibility to warn against places frequently used by police for mobile speed traps would be nice (maybe connected to a counter). This would be helpful in areas with low waze user density and prevent the first from being the fastest.

TTS language setting
TTS is currently forced to a single language based on the country you are in. If you travel to other country, waze will speak wrong words.
Just a setting to change it will be enough.23 votes -

Integrate with cobra iRadar
Cobra has a radar detector that works with android and iphone. They upload/download radar locations for their own community. There may be an opportunity for the two companies to work together, and integrate with each other. Imagine: turn by turn nav, automatic traffic condition updates, user reported feedback of accidents and automatic reports of police radar points all in one cohesive application.

Rerouting dialog is obtrusive
When waze reroutes or changes ETA it pops up a dialog "Rerouting" or "Your ETA has changed due to ...". Especially the rerouting dialog is annoying as it obstructs a clear view of the map which you most likely need at that moment. A small spinner in the corner of your screen (maybe in the green nav-bar?) and the audible warning should be enough. Maybe a "Don't show again" button on those dialogs?

Use special tiles for not downloaded areas
Let the waze client use a special tile for not downloaded areas. When on a slow connection you sometimes realise there's no road where you are, so you enable construction mode just to realise a minute later that the roads in the area just weren't finished downloading to your phone yet.

Po's words of wisdom was removed from recent waze updates. Pls put it back as it really lightens up my days during daily traffics.

Make footpaths more distinguishable in the app
A footpath in the app is the same colour and barely a fraction of a millimeter thinner than a road, so it’s easy to miss where a driveable road ends and continues as a footpath. Changing footpaths to dashed lines just like in the browser Map Editor would 100% solve the problem.

Add a Toilet Place Category
There is currently no toilet place category, there is however apparently a search category for toilet. It would be ideal to create a place category for toilet tied to the search category so that public toilets can be mapped more effectively than simply using "Other". This could then potentially be tied to a quick search category in app.

A few user stories for supporting BEV / electromobility in Waze
Dear Wazers,
I have been using your product far before "the Google times." When I first downloaded Waze, the road to my home was not "Wazed-paved" yet, so I had to pave it myself :). Anyway, that's not what I'm writing you about. I want to extend a request to you through a few user stories, which would significantly enhance my electromobility driving experience. I hope you're already thinking in that direction, and we'll see enhancements for BEV (battery-electric vehicles) soon.
There're plenty of elecromobile-specific apps, but Waze is my current choice for a guidance app. As such, I am suffering because I need to switch back/forth from Waze to another app when it comes time to plan a long drive.
If you would like to enhance our experience with Waze easily, you could partner with the two most powerful solutions, PlugShare and abetterrouteplanner.com (of course, if they agree). But I think you're big enough to believe in enhancing your app by yourself and giving us the functionality to fulfill our e-mobility needs.
I took the liberty to draft a few user stories, which I can find very useful. Although all of them will give excellent functionality to Waze, the first one is the most important, which would position Waze as the first massively used navigation software which incorporates proper functionality for e-mobility. I hope you have plans to win this market even better.
In any case, here're the stories. Each story has a justification/overview to it.
As a user, I need to see charging stations on the map so that I can plan my travel accordingly
This one is the "mother of all e-mobility" stories. Of course, it's so big that it's easily epic, but shortly said, we, the users, need a way to see the charging stations on the map.
The distinguished properties of each charger on the map should be like those below:
name: "Awesome charger" # The name of the charging station, user free-form owner: "EVPoint" # the charging station owner description: "Please use our apps, available at our home page https://evpoint.bg/, to activate the charger." max-power: 150 # the maximum power, in kW, of the whole station. Sometimes people use only this parameter to judge the power delivery speed, but often it's necessary to have granulation per socket. connectors: # Lists all charging connectors available at the station. This is a good reference for it: https://evcharging.enelx.com/resources/blog/552-ev-charging-connector-types - CCS2: # CCS2 charging connectors at the station - count: 2 # two CCS2 charging connectors - max-power: 75 # 75 kW max power each - CHADEMO: # Chademo connectors at the station - count: 1 # one Chademo connector - max-power: 50 # 50 kW max powerThe
descriptionmight seem optional, but without it we will need a place to know the URL from which we will access the charging app. Usually, most of the manufacturers have their specific apps. So any particular data on how to access the station services is put in this field.A very important part of this functionality is the filters. When a BEV travels a long distance, we usually use the fact DC-chargers. These give us a charge for approx 100-150 miles (150-250 km) in 10-20 minutes. Most of these chargers are located near (or directly as part of) existing gas stations.
As part of an MVP, I would accept the first four fields, with the ability to filter by
max-power. However, an "MVP-2" stage with theconnectorsproperty, and the ability to filter by their type, will be a must since not all cars support all connectors. For example, a TESLA might have its own connector only, and my car has only CCS2 for DC charging. As a user, I would like to enter my BEV range so that Waze helps me plan longer rides
This is a must if I could use Waze as my assistant for BEV travels. My vehicle has a range (let's simplify this for now - just a
number of kmor miles in my account).Based on this range, Waze could show me in a friendly way, directly over my travel map, where my coverage ends. Then I can zoom in, choose a suitable charging station, and plan my ride accordingly (see below). For this, Waze has to have support for more than one Stops (I think right now you allow only one stop, but even this would do, for an MVP, it's more than OK).
As a user, I need better support for community-driven charging station data and status
The community feedback is critical since the map is not yet saturated with chargers. Thus, having the ability to rate/comment on each charging station is a functionality that I use very often. When I plan my trip, I usually avoid chargers, where the community says "broken." And when a charger comes back online, the community is very fast to indicate this.
The best way to leave feedback is to indicate if any user had a successful charging session. A simple Yes/No would do. The system can then calculate an overall rating per charger and display it in a
Ratingsection. The written feedback from each user can also be displayed there (if there's such a given with the "Charge-successful/unsuccessful" rate).Dear Wazers,

Do AWAY with cartoonish “rewards”
Do AWAY with the cartoonish rewards! This is a useful app and not a ridiculous game. Going 75mph down the highway and I “verify” a car on the side of the road and as soon as I do I come over a small rise and there’s a car in the left shoulder partially in the fast lane and the ridiculous cartoon rewards are still flashing so I can’t press the notification button to alert other drivers!! It’s either a game or a useful app, stop trying to make it both!!

Interface suggestion
When asking if police or disabled car on side of the road, perhaps separate the “still there” and “not there” buttons. Perhaps one on the top and one on the bottom. Sometimes I accidentally click the wrong button as the car is bumpy and the buttons are too close together. FYI. This is on Apple CarPlay.
