3. Closure layer behaviour on selected segments

   When the closure layer is off and you have a segment with closure selected, the active closure is not showing when you switch on the closure layer. You need to unselect and reselect the segment to be able to see it. It would be nice if that can be resolved.

4. Select segments included in permalink regardless of zoom level

   When handling unlock requests for larger areas, or when doing extensive highway closures, we often deal with permalinks that cover a broad area.
   To combat the problem currently, we have to break up the PLs, or use a script to select segments as we pan around.
   It would be exceptionally helpful and a great time saver if WME would load and select segments that are specified in a PL regardless of the zoom level.

5. Make Map Comments selectable even when behind Area Places

   Please allow editors to select Map Comments that located amidst Area Places.

   At present, at least in vanilla WME, neither Map Comment points nor areas are selectable if they are amidst an Area Place. The Places layer has to be turned off (or the obstructing place moved or removed) for the Map Comment to be accessible.

   Map Comments are among the most useful things for novice editors to view, but such editors may not be aware of the workarounds required to view Map Comments that are amidst Area Places.

   If we change the order, does it make sense that a place under the map comment won’t be selectable?

6. Prevent overlapping restrictions

   Currently you get set overlapping restrictions on segments and turns (e.g. setting all vehicles prohibited Monday-Friday and on Tuesdays) Instead you should receive an error when applying or savings the restriction, similar to closures.

7. Distance to overtaking section (Dual lane) on "A" Roads

   Marked on Maps and audio description saying Distance to Overtaking Zone. This would avoid numerous accidents knowing that if you wait a short period of time you can overtake safely rather than risking overtaking in the face of oncoming traffic.

8. Add manual lock level to Junction Boxes

   Currently, Junction Boxes do not have a controllable lock level. From the look of it, the lock level displayed is the minimum level for the country that can edit a JB. For example, in the UK only L5+ editors can edit JBs, so all JBs show auto(5) in WME.

   With various changes that HQ are making into WME and the app, it seems to me that they expect a massive increase in JBs over time. U-turn prevention, junction modification for Falcon are just some of the things for which the answer often seems to be "use a JB".

   I'm not disagreeing with the increased use of JBs. But some of them in the UK are attached to very complex motorway junctions (https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=row&lon=0.19921&lat=51.87156&zoom=5) which we would definitely want to stay out of reach of junior editors.

   On the other hand, we don't want to prevent junior editors being able to use JBs sensibly in situations where they're needed.

   Without individual lock levels on JBs we don't have much choice. In order to protect complex, important JBs we have to lock junior editors out of JB use entirely.

9. Remove false city names from UK WME database

   Following the mass import of data for 3 ad campaigns (McDonald's, M&S, Aldi) by the Ads / Geo-ops teams the UK map is now littered with false or incorrect city names. These must be removed from the map immediately as they are NOT city names and should not exist.

   The UK Champs have asked privately for this to be done but for some reason this request needs to be public.

   This is NOT a change to UK mapping, this is simply following common sense that Counties should never be used as a city name and fake city names should not be made up. Removing these bad city names prevents the spread of false information on the UK map.

   We have repeatedly asked for the Ads team to work with the UK community to reduce the poor / incorrect data that keeps getting dumped on the map.

10. Practice mode in WME while logged in

    As far as I know, after logging into the WME, the user cannot enter practice mode anymore.
    I suggest that besides "Default mode" and "Event mode", there will be "Practice mode" that will enable anyone to go into the practice mode directly even when already logged in. This might be useful for anyone who wants to try to edit in order to test something or to illustrate some edit option (and take a snapshot of it), and also it is suggested to enable entrance into the tutorial videos from there.

11. Keep previous history for merged/split segments

    Hello!

    I think it would be very helpful if segment history included data from previous "iterations" of that segment, when a segment was created by merge or split.

    Right now, the history starts anew any time there is a new segment ID, but I would imagine it should be fairly trivial to develop a backend mechanism that, any time a segment is split or merged, merges the history of the previous segment ID into the new segment's history.

    This is useful not only diagnostically but also to catch cheaters on the map, who today can split and merge segments at will with no evidence.

    It is very easy to envision how this would work with a segment created by split, as the history of the previous, longer segment can simply be displayed before the "Segment created by split" line, perhaps with the old ID of the previous segment appended.

    For segments created by merge, obviously there are multiple histories to incorporate, but I think it can still be done in a sensible way from a UX / UI standpoint, as follows.

    Right now, the history of a merged segment starts with "Segment created by merge", and the data is lost. In a better implementation, perhaps it looks like this: "Segment created by merge of [segment ID 1] and [segment ID 2]".

    Then, at the time of the merge, the old history of the other two segments are merged into the new segment as well, with the old segment ID appended.

    So, let's say you have segments 123 and 345 from the basemap, each with a few edits before, named "Main St", connected by a node, then you delete the node to merge the segments into segment 54321 (newer segments have much higher IDs!). Right now, the history would be simply,

12. [Segment Attribute Request] Treat 2 Way as Divided

    I would like to have the ability to draw a single 2-way segment but be able to mark it as divided so it does not say you have arrived until on correct side of road. Sometimes you may have a segment that may not really need to be divided into 2 One-Way segments but if you want routing to offer the correct directions you would have to divide the segments. In my picture below, the red line shows what Waze currently does (it says you have arrived as you pass the house) The green line shows what it should be doing. This can be accomplished by dividing but if there was an attribute that says "divided segment" that Waze would treat the 2-way segment as 2 One-Way segments, then we would not have to add extra "unneeded" segments but still give the correct routing.

    I really think this would go a long way in helping when we have just a short segment that is divided along a longer undivided segment.

14. receive UR's notifications on mobile for new issues

    I mean we're not familiar what users report about unless we open WME to track reports.
    sometimes the problem could be solved by chatting then editors can start apply what needed.
    i don't need to set in front of computer to chat with users and maybe there r not going to respond that time so make it easy for us to receive first notification if users report on a new issue on our mobile, then usually as you know we can chat with them in our phones.

    Note: as a editor i want to know what is going on with UR from my phone for each reports.

16. Restrictions feature (TBR): Limit access by editor level

    The restrictions tool used to be simpler a few years ago. Today it allows to setup not only time/days restrictions but also permits/passes, number of passengers, toll roads and more. With new options such as "allowed", "toll free" and "prohibited" it became confusing even for higher rank editors sometimes.

    I've lost count of how many times I checked editors that made 1-2 edits and that added a 24/24h 7/7d permanent restriction on what should be a simple "private road". Or even setup a freeway pass on a simple street.

    This tool has become extremely complex and powerful, especially since routing was changed years ago to treat any segment with a restriction applied to behave as a "Walking Trail", not routing into the segment but stopping at the junction node if the address is on the segment.

    Applied restrictions are almost impossible to detect or keep track of. Without scripts or selecting and opening menus, we cannot easily differenciate a useful restriction from a wrong one. The UI also makes it harder to see, compared to a wrong red/green arrow, missing segment or other more obvious errors.

    For all of those reasons it should be possible to restrict its usage per level and per country.
    I would personally make it available only at L2, as 3000 edits is usually enough time to figure out that segment types exist and what their penalties are vs adding restrictions.

18. Allow House Names to be added/editable in RRPs

    In the UK, houses can be named instead of numbered. This is very common in rural parts of the country.

    When an App user adds a Residential Place they can add in House Names within the address field. When the Residential Place Update Request reaches WME, we can approve the PUR, but once it's been saved, we cannot edit it due to the restriction WME puts on the Address field (numbers only with letter suffixes). We can't even move the RRP, the only thing we can do is delete it.

    This request is to allow House Names to be added and editable in RRPs within WME, to match the capability of the app.

    When handling new road construction or reconfiguring existing roads, junctions, interchanges, etc. it would be beneficial to have a "planning mode" where the changes could be planned in advance but not added to the live map until the construction is finished. Currently, editors must carefully preserve existing routing while mapping the new segments.

The current system of two different ways of showing house number, plus the need to change modes for HNs, is time-consuming and counter-productive. They need to be combined with capabilities such as interpolation, use on any type of road and searchability on all.
