  1. Suppress Live Map Overlay

Recently a change to Live Map introduced an overlay and call to action footer with information on how to download the Waze app when the URL contains a permalink to a location.

    (Image attached)

While this is great for users that have not yet been introduced to Waze, map editors do not need to see it every time they open Live Map from within WME. Fortunately, if the following query string parameters are appended to the URL, both the overlay and call to action are suppressed:

    Hey!

    Thank you for this suggestion.
This suggestion is related to Live Map and not WME.

In addition, We don’t have the overlay anymore, and therefor we won’t move forward with the suggestion.

    Thanks!

  2. Link points POI to an Area POI

    Hi guys,

The idea is to link points POI to a Area POI.
For example, linking stores in a Mall or linking a company office in a building.
    It's also to avoid this kind of editions : https://www.waze.com/editor?env=row&lon ... 157&zoom=6.
I think this will help editors to determinate which stores or companies are present in a Mall/building and help user to use the right entry to go to shopping or working.
It will be a plus if you can also link, a point POI entry on an Area POI entry.

  3. Selecting a search result shouldn't reset the zoom level

When using the WME search box to find a road, it would be really nice if WME could leave the current zoom level well alone rather than always resetting it to level 3.

Even if it just defaulted back to level 4 that'd be an improvement, but jumping back out to 3 means we then always have to zoom back in at least one step if we want to be able to select a street segment. And even at L4, anyone looking to do some work on point places would then need to zoom in one step more before they…

  4. Parking Lots: Show Payment Types only when needed

Please consider showing the 11 payment types checkboxes only when the "Cost" dropdown has "Low", "Moderate" or "Expensive" selected.

This will help you to have consistent information too: For example, what does it mean that a free parking log accepts Credit Cards as a payment type?

  5. Show "Hidden" external providers like Yext

Show that this data exists, so that editors will be more likely to merge than to delete.

When new place points are added as part of a large upload from Yext or some other advertising aggregator, many editors will be likely to reject the new-place PURs because an already perfect place already exists.

If they were aware that there was some other important information in the PUR, then they would be much more likely to accept the PUR.

The back end data script reveals the existence of this data in places. But I don't think it makes sense to depend…

    Hey!

Thank you very much for this great suggestion.

It was added to our backlog to try and see the possibility to implement it when we will next use external providers.

Please note there is no ETA for it yet.

  6. Prefill city when using a street name suggestion

When we currently enter the name of a street, we get autocompletion suggestions based on existing roads in the neighbourhood. It would help quite a bit if the associated city field would also be filled in whenever we use one of these suggested road names. I know that every street has a city set (or none, on purpose) in the underlying data model, so this shouldn't be a big effort to add.

    (see Mock up 1 + 2 attached )

I'm still contemplating whether I'll write a userscript for this or not. It's not so easy to hook into those…

  8. Improvements in segment selection for road closures

Sometimes it's necessary to select multiple segments to perform a road closure either for MTE or for a conventional closure. After you have several segments selected, you accidentally select a node and all work is lost (the section disappears). I suggest making a modification that prevents the disappearance of the selection of these segments and notifies the editor that you selected a node and it will not be possible to make the respective closure (before or at the moment of trying to save). Obviously the idea is to give you the opportunity to remove the node from the selection and…

  9. Setting "Repeat every year" on an existing restriction

Now that we have the "Repeat every year" checkbox for restrictions, it'd be useful if we could tick this for existing restrictions to turn them into repeating ones, without the need to then also edit the start/end dates to avoid the "Start date can not be in the past" error.

e.g. a segment has an existing restriction set for 5th September 2019 to 20th October 2019, and the restriction is one that ought to be set as recurring.

The preferred workflow would be for the editor to simply tick the "Repeat every year" checkbox and save, without any other changes…

    Hey!

    Thank you for this suggestion.
We want to kindly ask you to share with us cases in which you believe this development can be at your assistance.

This will help us to get a decision about this suggestion.

  10. Restricted areas: L5 users can restrict Rank 6 segments

With restricted areas, a level 5 (or Level X user depending on what the final level will be when released in production/country setting) could currently add a restriction to a level 6 segment.

Steps: find a rank 6 segment, draw an area on it => The segment is restricted.

This may be a WAD (similar to closures for people who have closure permissions), but it's still risky and lowers the protection of the rank system. If the user deletes the area restriction right after the map update, the problem cannot be identified without staff intervention.

  11. Invalid Railroad Regression Error

I would put this in Beta Bugs but I know that technically it is not a bug. So I am going to make it a suggestion instead.

If you have a railroad segment cross a street segment and you decide to junction them.
    (pic 1)
You get an error when you save telling you that all turns are disallowed.
    (pic 2)

While technically this is true, you CAN"T allow the turns onto/off the railroad segment (and you shouldn't be allowed to).

This is a left over error from back when turns could be set on railroad segments and needs to…

  12. Clean restrictions type

    Hi

Now that restrictions are limited to actual supported vehicules, can data be cleaned in those actives?

Truck, coach... are visible but can't be deleted.

    Hope I'm clear enough :D

    Thanks

Thank you for this suggestion, but we won’t move forward. with it.

We left these in order to avoid deleting data that the editors worked on. This way, if we will support these in the future, the data will still be there.
The data, as said, is not interfering with the app.

    Thanks,
    Hezi

  13. Improvement for lanes

I am attaching a suggestion here to allow adding lanes in node that refer to a "far turn". Implementing this suggestion will solve all the problems of setting lanes (including extreme complicated junctions, H and # junctions) without the need for any heuristics! It will work at any junctions even if it is extremely complex with many auxiliary segments.

    In the WME:
When defining lanes to a segment, turns are automatically displayed for the end of the segment with the segment names to which they refer.
My suggestion is to add an option for adding to lanes a "far turns".…

  14. Sunrise/sunset vs absolute times for restrictions

Some roads have driving restrictions based on the local sunrise/sunset times, which are difficult to map even somewhat accurately as a series of consecutive restrictions with absolute start/end times.

Being able to set a single year-round restriction using a "sunrise" or "sunset" option to set the start/end times, and leaving it up to the routing server to determine what the actual start/end times are for each restriction based on the current date and coordinates of the restricted segments, could therefore be useful.

    Hey,

We have looked at this suggestion, and in order to make some decisions about it, would like to kindly ask you to provide us with more data about it.

Please share some examples for when and where this restrictions apply? (use cases)

And any country you know relevant for it.

    Thanks!

  16. Allow taking a Place picture from Streetview

Requirements: the Streetview panel is open and the place layer is on

Then: allow creating a box on the Streetview panel. When a box is drawn add a bar saying: now select a place to apply this picture.
Add an X on the box to delete it. Allow the user to resize the box.
Set a minimum size and a fixed ratio (the one used by the client) for a decent resolution.
Drawing a new box removes the previous one if present.

If then the user clicks on a place, ask him:

"would you like to set this selection as…

  18. Additional camera types, with names and TTS defined by community

July 2020, Waze has three camera types: speed, red light, dummy. It is clear talking to different community leaders that the requirements for specific cameras vary from country to country. Thus, we are asking for the ability to add new camera types per country, with the ability to input into text to speech (TTS), and on/off toggle alert in the app. These could be provided by form, similar to new gas station brands, etc. by a country's leadership.

Alternatively, collect a list of camera types from the communities to create a long list, and allow countries to turn them on/off…
