Lockscreen Route View
After using the new maps on iOS 6 I could only come up with a little amount of good new features the maps app has. The most helpful one is that the route you are following is displayed on our lock screen, so you can lock your cellphone to avoid people to use your phone while using the gps to get to a please, and also to save some battery. So adding this feature of showing the route on the iPhone would be a great idea, just by the fact that on the road you want to have the information…

Share destination with anoter waser
It coulb be interesting to add a "share destination" function. You send your destination to your friend and you could see how many km they have to do, when they will arrived etc.

favorite locations are now saved with your user data on the server.
When installing a fresh version of waze (and not upgrading), you will get a message asking if you’d like to download favorites from the server. -
Location services
Under Locations in our phones Waze has to be set to Always or Never while apps such as Maps and Lyft has the choices of Never or While Using. I think waze should also only use or location services while we are using the app. We don't need Waze to be tracking our location and wasting our battery every second of the day but only while we are using the app. This can obviously be made possible. If Maps and Lyft allows us this common sense option, then Waze should too.

Replace "accident" with "crash"
The term "accident" implies that no one was at fault. This is an inaccurate word choice, unless you know for a fact that no one involved did anything negligent to cause the crash. Widespread use of the term "accident" implies that road injuries and deaths are unavoidable, and creates an environment where they are simply accepted as a cost of doing business, when in fact, there is a lot that can be done to prevent such carnage. The terms "crash" and "collision" are much more accurate, as they do not imply fault or lack of fault.

Stop automatically reading contacts and sending sms messages without express permission.
It is very sleazy to "harvest" or contacts and down then with text messages. You never asked express permission to do this. It should only be something you offer to opt into for specific contacts.

Create a "dangerous spot" alert
I live in São Paulo - Brazil, and unfortunately we have a serious problem with violence in traffic.
Just a few days ago I was a victim of an armed robbery in a very know avenue, and we have a lot of spots that this kind of action is frequent.
So, my suggestion is that drivers can allert and input information like this so waze can identify this spots and maybe even suggest a detour depending on time day (since this actions are much more frequent at late hours).

Camera alerts
In Australia we have new cameras that photograph non seatbelt and mobile phone useage. Is there any way alerts can include these type of cameras ??

please, hide "my waze" and "search bar" when im driving and no destination is set.
they take half screen when the phone is in landscape orientation (5.5" inch phone)

Red Light Camera Audio Alerts
I get no audio alerts for Red Light Camera intersections. I want this audio alert for EVERY Red Light Camera intersection. I live in the Chicago suburbs and these intersctions are everywhere. I coiuld not find how to get this audio alert. Please add this IMMEDIATELY!!!

Remove Passenger Confirmation
I love this app…with one exception of the completely pointless, totally useless, down right idiotic passenger confirmation box to allow inputs while moving. Really? Everywhere else in the app this doesn't come up. Waze is the ONLY app I've use that polices text and speech-to-text input ability while moving. You might as well interject after the passenger confirmation "Uh-oh! You're a passenger please confirm you've buckled your seat belt." but don't want to forget to confirm this after: "Uh-oh You're a passenger with a seat belt on, please confirm that you're not sitting in the front seat if you're younger…

Gas prices
Show an option to update gas prices based on credit card prices and cash prices.

Turn on the lights alert.
In Brazil, even during the day it's mandatory to turn on the car lights when we drive in a route (highway).
It would be very helpful there was an alert reminding us to do it each time we start driving on a highway.
(No Brasil, mesmo durante o dia é obrigatório ligar os faróis ao dirigir numa estrada.

Alert about speed cameras even when not speeding.
Currently, with speed camera alerts enabled, the alert only activates when speeding while approaching a speed camera. An option to display the alert regardless of current speed would be beneficial.

purple route line hides traffic
When in navigation mode the purple route line hides the yellow and red lines showing traffic congestion. This discourages me from using the navigation. There could be an option to turn the purple line on/off just like there is an option to turn voice commands on/off

Force Reroute Button
Many times i can see that the freeway/higway I´m about to enter is slow moving, and waze wants to route me into that sometimes even if there is reported trafficjams/heavy traffic etc on that road. A button on screen or easy accesssible (poosibly instead of the bulldozer) to force an alternative route would really help
69 votesAvailable on version 2.2 and on. To reroute, click on the green bar (after starting the route).
One of the options is to recalculate the route, i.e. force a reroute. -
Add "Show Friend Wazers Only" Option
Perhaps you can consider adding the ability in settings to not just show/hide all Wazers but add a third option to "show friend wazers only", too. Be great to have this so when caravanning you're still able to see your friends without seeing all wazers which can sometimes clutter the map. Thanks.
