I would not like to see too many options to choose from while I am driving. but I would like to see a stopped/moving option.

I'd like this. Most users in my area reports police when they see them patrolling, they're rarely stationary here in my city. This would clear up some confusion.

If there is an intentional 4 min delay, remove it or shorten it, or randomize it so at least most of the reports will be useful

The first part of the idea is difficult to implement but useful.

Yet the second part of you idea is for Waze to cover you up while doing something illegal... I certainly do not want to see this happening.

This would be an excellent feature, although difficult to implement with map delays. I agree reporting should be anonymous for this feature.

those fastidious about speed or leery of moving away from highway patrol could volunteer to pace switching to anonymous mode and changing the weight of report -- moreso as more Pacers report

I figure if you add the posted speed limit feature and then add a police patrolling. Use that speed and notify wazers going both directions within two miles of projected officer!

As there will likely be more than one reported vector such expiration-, and delay concerns will be mitigated.

Sounds like a good idea but with the delay between reporting and when it shows up on the map, (roughly four minutes, sometimes more if there are cell network issues). The only people that report is really going to help will never see the report.

Those going slower than the cop don't have to worry and the report will always be appearing roughly four miles behind them (assuming traveling 60 mph). For those about to catch up with the officer, the closest report is still going to be three to four miles behind the officer so they won't see it. And if the Officer is driving far enough without pullng over or off the road, that some speeder can cover the four miles: A: the officer is most likely off duty and thus won't really care unless they are speeding stupidly fast and deserve to get caught, and B: The driver will most likely have forgotten the report that is now cruising four miles behind them.

Perhaps Waze can drop the delay between reporting and it appearing on the map, but then you get people complaining about someone being able to track their movements to easily. The delay is designed to provide privacy protection, so I don't see it getting dropped.

There's a common situation you didn't mention: while driving the cop approaches from behind then passes and the distance between you and the cop increases over time after passing.

I was also thinking maybe an option should be "Pulled Some One Over" Then your pretty sure they are writing tickets.
Perhaps to take it a step further add a reporting feature that displays x number of pullovers over a certain amount of time and an area. Gives the user a feel if a lot of tickets or pullovers are happening in a particular area.

I am often pacing (behind) a police officer for long stretches on my commute and it would be great to be able to report this to wazers coming from the other direction (and have other wazers report to me). You could add an option to remove the police officer once he turns and goes another direction.

+2 on this feature, i was pacing a cop car the other night after getting off work, it would be nice to see this feature implemented so that fellow wazer's don't fly up on the cop unexpectedly and get a ticket. BTW, there us to be another community app out there that even the cops were using to report themselves that they were radaring cars, the cop said on the news video that he was doing it in hopes the people using the app would slow down so he didn't have to give them a ticket.

Just today I had two troopers pacing me, when I was doing a couple miles under the limit, but was getting passed frequently by other vehicles. The second trooper may have just been a coincidence. However, the first was weaving in and out of traffic at 20-25 miles over the speed limit to get to me (his speed and weaving had caught my attention), almost came to a screeching halt as he pulled up behind me, and then followed me for almost 10 miles - so clearly, not a coincidence! (And no, I didn't get pulled over.)

It's a free country and besides, they should be happy that people are reporting them as moving instead of sitting at on-ramps handing out tickets to carpool violators...them being call the Highway Patrol, not the Highway Revenue Collectors...
