I walk through roads with numerous galleries and logically the GPS signal is lost. It would be convenient to develop the app to continue traveling virtually until the new GPS satellites are hooked.

My idea of making tunnels navigable is not by using external sensors located into the tunnel which will be impossible to be broad applied and expensive. Instead the idea is to use sensors of mobile phone with simple calculation by interpolation of actual speed at the entrance focr example. Any other idea is welcome.I saw this function working on Sygic and it's fine

You could use accelerometers and gyroscopes to suppliment GPS data. Use accelerometers and gyroscopes to increase accuracy of location with with virtually no power increase. It would also allow navigation through tunnels and such when GPS location is lost. It would also prevent erroneous movement while stopped at a traffic light. There are companies testing this type of technology. Ihre App ist sehr gelungen. Es gibt bloß eins was sie vllt mit dem nächsten Update vllt verbessern sollten. Und das wäre, dass man die GPS Simulation im Tunnel aktivieren sollte. Dort bleibt immer der Punkt stehen wo er kein GPS hat. Andere Programme wie Google Maps nutzen diese GPS Simulation schon. Wäre ne super Aktualisierung für ihr sensations Navigation System.

- GPS navigation continued to advance when in a tunnel (act as if the vehicle is theoretically up to speed limiting).

- you get to fix the bug preventing the handsfree phone kit from working at the same time as Waze.

If you manage to correct these two cases, Waze would be almost perfect.

Elle serait parfaite si :

- la navigation GPS continuait d'avancer lorsqu'on est dans un tunnel (faire comme si le véhicule avancé théoriquement à la limitation de vitesse en vigueur). 

- vous arrivez à corriger le bug empêchant le kit main libre téléphone de fonctionner en même temps que Waze. 

Si vous arrivez à corriger ces deux cas, Waze serait quasi parfait.

When the GPS signal is lost in a tunnel, Waze sometimes locates your position with the phone network signal. This location can be nearby the tunnel or in a Town center. Sometimes it tries to recalculate the route

I suggest to the Waze team that inside tunnels, when the GPS signal is lost, the Navigator should keep giving indications based in the maximum speed in the tunnel (or last speed recorded).

This could be very useful when you have exits in the Tunnels (for example M30 in Madrid) or the Exit is just after the end of the tunnel.

Also, the feature can be used if the GPS signal is lost in a normal road.

I also agree. It is good to see what is behind the tunnel. Navigation has to remember actual/maximum speed and show calculated position.
Fg if I have to turn away from road directly behind the tunnel I have to move map manually. It is not so comfortable, maybe also dangerous.

As I travel to New York city everyday I'm in tunnels and taking bridges but even taking tunnels waze stops gps as soon I enter tunnel please add alternative tunnels info into the traffic bar along with showing tunnels distance left.

Sygic navigation navigates through tunnels at the last known speed. If you change the speed until you get the GPS signal again, the pointer simply jumps forward or backward. Simple and effective.

I agree. i had exactly same idea. and why not doing in tunnels exactly like if the signal would be received: navigation should continue at the legal speed or at the speed driver had while entering the tunnel. So it would show the way. And then stop the image at the next "decision point".
Please implement this option in the next update.
Instead of searching for complex and expensive bluetooth solutions like i saw on the news...

Please put in the bluetooth-GPS transmitters into the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, so that WAZE will work within that International Tunnel. Also warn when approaching or mapping this tunnel that you must have passports, and/or Enhanced Driver License to get in and out!

Use Kalman filtering combination of GPS, accelerometers, etc to do dead reckoning. Even without that, you can guess the speed in the tunnel from the speed before and after the tunnel.

Double-integrating the accelerometer to calculate position will always cause accumulating error in the estimate, but Kalman filtering combined with the GPS would eliminate as much as possible. Location will be much more accurate and it will no longer mistakenly think that I'm still on a highway when I've taken an exit and am driving along the service road, and can guess how far through a tunnel I've traveled, etc.

I back this idea up as well, when entering a tunnel, the location just goes nuts. it should be possible to interpolate the position on the current route and show the next instruction

Exactly what Waze needs, and maybe the only thing it needs.

OBD Bluetooth dongles without GSM engine can greatly enhance user experience:
- to wake up Waze app when igniting the car
- to precisely locate vehicle using wheel speed in tunnels, at intersections
- to notify Waze in case of car crash so Waze would notify helpers
- to record detailed statistics even when no smartphone is onboard
A device that can do all that is the TomTom LINK 100. It's offered to developpers including Waze for integration.

The Bluetooth OBD dongle TomTom LINK 100 can real time stream the actual speed of the car, especially in tunnels, in traffic jams and at road intersections. Allianz France has incorporated that dongle, the TomTom LINK 100 SDK into its Conduite Connectée app. Waze could consider teaming with TomTom on that, at least on a pilot market. Why not ?

Had a TomTom 7 years ago that kept my average speed when entering the tunnel. It's nothing new really.
But yeah bluetooth Obd2 support would be awesome.

When you drive in a tunnel Waze stop the navigation. Please make that Waze drive whitout signal to the next instruction at the same speed that the way.
