Accident warning
Inform why traffic is heavy

Add alert capability to post for Police to include those that are 'rolling' and in which direction . . .
When posting an alert where Police are involved, there isn't an option to note whether they are moving in traffic and if they are rolling with you or in the opposite direction. I feel that would/should be a natural choice to be able to make while reporting, to benefit other 'Wazers' operating near you. That's what it's for, right?

Please make next steps quick/easy to see
In heavy traffic, one often has to know about upcoming turns well in advance to get into the correct lane. But to see upcoming nav steps in Waze requires clicking to the menu, then swiping to the second page, then clicking Nav List -- way too many steps. Please make it easy to see the next step or whole list from the main screen. I suggest enabling a jump to the nav list if the user clicks on the name of the next street. (I intuitively try this; may have been default functionality on a prior GPS.)

Bike path crossing alerts
In bicycle-centric cities like Madison, WI, the roadways are full of bike path crossings. Some have flashing yellow lights, while others are simply painted green. Alerting drivers of bike path crossings would make cities like Madison much safer.
For reference, I was rear-ended at one with full flashing lights last year. It could have been fatal had the cyclist not been crossing the other side of the boulevard at the moment of impact.
Please consider giving Waze users the option to be alerted at bike path crossings!

Add a route option
I live in Texas and the route options do not take into consideration safety. Usually it gives me routes that are dark( no street lights) and thru miles in rural areas. I would like to suggest that a safe route option is added to the route options that takes the driver thru populated and areas with good street lightning. One should never compromise safety.

Recalulate Route Button / Bird's Eye Route / I'm On This Route Button
Seems like there are lots of these that get one or two votes and die the way of the dodo just like I will assume this suggestion will do. Although the idea behind Waze is social-traffic guidance it doesn't do the commuter a lot of good when they are in route on a multi-lane interstate in the middle of rush hour(s).
We all give permission for Google/Waze/everyone to know our location so use that information to know that we are on the route and recalculate the traffic speeds based on our movement and feedback on our phones.

Police Alerts
A police report should notify drivers when driving within a certain radius of the report and not just for drivers that are traveling in the direction of the report. This would be very beneficial on highways and eliminate the need to report police twice for both sides.
To make this make sense, if you’re traveling southbound on a two-lane road and you make a police report, it will only alert the southbound traffic, not the northbound.

Toll booth waiting time
Everytime I stop at a toll booth, the app asks if there is traffic jam. Instead of that, it would be nice to have toll booths identified in the map and once near it, the app would calculate the average time users are spending on each site, excluding fast passages as they would represent tagged vehicles. To display it, a bar similar to traffic jam would do just fine. With that, the ETA would be less affected by long lined in toll booths.

Light Mode for Low End Devices
Everyone loves to use waze, but some people are not able to because the app may not work properly on some devices with lower end specs.
The app has evolved to a point where it requires more RAM and better processing power to accommodate all the features it relies on.
Of course, some animations and other visual stuff can be turned off or at least toned down so they impact less the RAM and CPU power.
My request is that a option that makes the app consume less resources be added, so everyone can enjoy and contribute with the community.

Let Users Identify Faster Moving Lanes
Many times I am in traffic and one lane is moving faster than another. I would like to be able to alert other Waze users to this saving them time

route calculation on device instead of server
When navigating over longer routes, it takes quite some time before the route is calculated and sometimes a server timeout is the result.
can the option be added to opt for local route calculation? This would significantly reduce server load. The option to cancel an ongoing calculation is also nice with this, as well as the choice for local or server calculation.
why does this calculation happen server wise? is this to reduce the mobile data used on the client as not all traffic info is on the client, but is on the server?

Wazer message notifications (i.e. private messages) need to be more visible to be effective
In the Past few days I've "private messaged" wazers who were ahead of me on a route to find out about traffic conditions or a slow downs. These messages went unanswered. I didn't think anything of it at the time. This morning on the way into work I just happened to go to "My Waze" to view my ranking... and saw that I had a Private Message from another wazer- from 10 days ago - and never knew it. Adding Smash and Grab to the report page
Please add "Smash and Grab" to the report page. We have a lot of this in South Africa. Perpetrators smash the passenger side windows and steal things from cars when people are stuck in peak hour traffic. there was an incident like this today and I could not report it

Improve Reroute Efficiency
I find that when I'm driving my morning or afternoon commute, Waze isn't automatically updating my route as highway traffic evolves. While driving, I find myself repeatedly having to shut the app off and on to get the refreshed data to find the fastest route. I don't believe this is due to my cellular service, as I've performed speed tests at various points along my commute and achieved 20 mbps down and 5 up. If you could work on improving real time route efficiency based on quickest time to destination, your Wazers would be grateful.

Option to close waze without confirming or double tapping screen
I use waze on every drive, due to this my phone is always logged in when driving (use a pin to access). While sitting in traffic one evening 2 robbers forced my window down, unlocked my car, opened the door and grabbed my phone. I would appreciate if an option could be added to close waze without confirming or by double tapping the screen in order for a phone to lock itself asap so that it can't be used or accessed. This would be much easier to do in a state of panic than to press the power/lock button on…

Great job today! The app helped me navigate Atlanta traffic today. I was able to get to my destination in great time avoiding long traffic waits.

avoid bus routes
I'd like to be able to route to avoid getting stuck behind a bus.
Waze could:
1. avoid roads that are bus routes during heavy traffic hours
2. "detect" when a wazer is probably stuck behind a bus -- prompt for "stuck behind a bus? reroute?"

pre-warning
if the congestion/queue is far from intersection and will only have an effect later (e.g. 10km or more) but it already known and waze strongly suggest a detour, should be indicated somehow (e.g. a traffic jam icon with distance in km, blinking roadline, etc),
that there is a big traffic jam in that direction in 10km,

Waze speed meter is 10km/hour less then car speed meter where I got traffic fines twice

When showing "Routes" options, show "average speed" per option.
When showing "Routes" options, in addition to "time" and "distance", show "average speed" per option. A user may want to choose an option whereby he/she is moving at a greater average speed, even if it means extending the duration of the trip, especially if the added duration is insignificant. For example, a user may prefer to travel 60 km in 1 hour than 40 km in 55 minutes because instead of siting in traffic the user is moving at a greater speed.
