Connect Waze to sireneradar.com to let Waze show a warning of an approaching emergency vehicle.
In the Netherlands we have the sireneradar.com initiative. Most emergency services are connected to this system.
The location of the police/fire/ambulance-vehicle is reported realtime to the platform, That data is available to navigation vendors like TomTom and Flitsmeister, and they sound and display a warning to their users for an approaching emergency vehicle.
This way the Waze users get an early warning, so they can be extra alert when they need to.

Waze android auto: zoom in/out from the joystick
Waze in android auto should allow us zooming in/out from the multimedia joystick like we can do with google maps.
Maybe it would be intersting a new botton called zoom to highlight it and then we could move the joystick.15 votes -

Add warning about "Off-road/Not maintained" segments
Following warnings can be used:
* voice warning - on navigating to new POI, on entering "Off-road/Not maintained" segments
* show such segments as bars with special color on roure chart similar to bars with traffic jams
* highlight such segments with special color on map. With current implementation user is able to find such segments with map color scheme for editors. After navigating to POI it is covered with bold line of proposed route so colors are not visible15 votes -

Umweltzone/environmental zones
In many countries in Europe environment zones are popping up. In these zones you can only drive if you have a sticker showing your car create less pollution than certain levels.
For instance, inner München is off-limit to older diesel cars.
You should be able in the app to indicate what label, if any, your car have, then not be routed into forbidden areas.

ETA on the front of the App
When you have your 1 stop route ready to go. The front page shows the ETA at the bottom, which is great. My suggestion has to do when you create a stop before the final destination. The display shows only the ETA of the 1st stop not the entire trip. It would be convenient for the area to show the first stop ETA and the final ETA. Either both at the same time or rotate both. Otherwise I have to go into another page to see my final ETA. Then when the first stop has completed then just show me the final ETA information.
Also if I am at the first stop for too long my entire trip seems to reset. That's not convienent. When you have your 1 stop route ready to go. Use accelerometers and gyroscopes to suppliment GPS data
Use accelerometers and gyroscopes to increase accuracy of location with with virtually no power increase. It would also allow navigation through tunnels and such when GPS location is lost. It would also prevent erroneous movement while stopped at a traffic light. There are companies testing this type of technology. One that I have been following but have no financial interest in is navisens.com There are videos from navisens at https://www.youtube.com/user/navisens

To stop WAZE from automatically shutting down
Could it be possible to keep WAZE active, until the user closes the app down. Ok here is what WAZE has done for years. You activate waze, put in your route and go. You then minimize Waze. Waze happily stays active if you are on the move. BUT become stuck in traffic, Waze will just shutdown. Could Waze be designed to not shutdown the app if minimised, when you are stuck in traffic. It is so annoying. You won't realise Waze is shutdown unless you look at your phone screen and fire Waze back up again, which well then say are you still heading to XXX destination. UK User

Show address in final navigation screen when approaching.
I LOVE that Waze now accesses my Apple calendar to see my appointments & the time. SO very helpful, as Waze is my go to map app (I am an on the road sales rep). But I have to exit Waze & return to my calendar entry to see the exact street address I am looking for. The final navigation screen will have the name & phone number of the person I'm trying to visit, but not the address, the most important part. Really annoying!

Tagging the lane of an accident
It would be nice for users to have the ability to tag what lane(s) an accident is in when they report an accident. Often users add this information in comments, but that takes time and becomes hazardous to look through as you're driving.

stop asking for access to my contacts!
Google, you're supposed to not be evil. But demanding access to all my contacts before letting me use the app is evil. Stop it.
And making me add an email address to make a comment is just an asshole move, which is what the contact requirement is, incidentally.

Increase visibility area in landscape mode.
While using waze on my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3), the device is on its side. I like to see the map in landscape mode. With the new update (version 4.0.0.2 installed) any warnings and the display of the names of streets COVERS a big part of the map. I suggest to enlarge the área of the map shown in landscape mode for smartphones at least.

Add "Residential Street" as an Additional Road Type
There tend to be situations in which neighborhoods and suburban communities have systems of roads such that there are a few feeder roads that are intended to serve a network of smaller residential streets. In the current state of the map editor, it can be difficult to map such areas so that traffic is generally directed along the streets with higher speed limits and fewer driveways. Usage of the prioritizing functions and setting certain segments as private roads helps a bit to alleviate this problem. I am suggesting a new idea.
Create a road type "residential street" for roads that should be generally avoided by through traffic. These roads might, for example, cause a routing penalty, discouraging using long stretches of residential streets or the routing system routing traffic to cut through neighborhoods. It may have a lower preference than a "street", but not carry as much as a penalty as a private road. The classification for residential streets may be optimally used for roads the primary purpose of which is to allow access to single-family residences or other low-density housing. There tend to be situations in which neighborhoods and suburban communities have systems of roads such that there are a few feeder roads that are intended to serve a network of smaller residential streets. Voice Command to Say "Thank You" to Notifications
Notifications by Fellow Wazers are really helpful. Waze should, accept THANK YOU voice Command and "Not there" Voice Command.
"Pothole Ahead", Vehicle on Shoulder" are great notifications, however taking your eyes of the road to touch input the small ThumbsUP, is very unsafe.15 votes -
Rotas de risco
Bom dia!
