Create a free instruction in case of change of name on a freeway
On a freeway, when the name changes without the direction changing, there is no voice instruction that is appropriate. We can only use a "Continue straight", which we might hear miles earlier.
My suggestion is, inside the Visual instruction, to have a free instruction available, which in this case could be "You are entering on A7". Why in Visual instruction? Precisely to avoid hearing the voice instruction miles earlier. Since the Visual instruction is not subject to propagation, make sure it is useful, which is the case here.

when showing the direction list, DON'T resize the text to fit in the box.
Resizing the text leads to some very small text. Instead, resize the box.

Simplified voice directions
Voice directions can often be unnecessarily long and complicated (eg telling you not just the street or Road to turn down but the state route number which is irrelevant). I see you have bigger directions on and off options, but what about a simplified or minimal directions option? Where you only get Street names, you don’t get an initial “this torture is similar to state route bla bla bla” when starting directions, and perhaps even not several reminders about a turn, or if the next turn is within less than 1km you don’t have to…

Interchange guidance method in ver. 2.2 is wrong. Revert to 2.0 method.
In version 2.2 (Android & iPhone) the written guidance in interchanges was changed. It tries to look-ahead and gives guidance based on the ramp exiting the interchange.
This is inconsistent with the way guidance worked in version 2.0 and therefore inconsistent with the ramp's naming in the Waze map. It leads to confusing guidance that does not match the actual road signs.
This is really dangerous as it increases drivers' confusion in the interchange.
Please revert the guidance method to the way it was in version 2.0For details see http://www.waze.co.il/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=9996&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=15#p59430 (in Hebrew)

Show the sun as a ball on the map
Show the location of the sun on the outskirts of the map, a moving yellow ball as you drive. This will give you an idea of when you will be driving straight at the sun. Also fun to see it move around the map. You can change the brightness or color based on how much glare may be in your eyes. Maybe a small arrow coming out of the ball to show the direction of where the sun is moving.

Go back to the directional method prior to this last upgrade. It takes more concentration to consider which way is right or left .
I don't like the new directional arrow. I now have to concentrate on which way is right or left while I'm driving. Im somewhat direction challenged as it is. If your in heavy traffic, its one more thing to worry about.

Stop the app suggesting a "better" route during a drive if it'd require a sudden change of lanes/direction
I've just dealt with a user report complaining that their app will sometimes suddenly change the route as they're approaching a major junction, and in order to follow the new route would require a late and potentially dangerous change of lanes.
Given we now have lane guidance and lane count details available in the map data, it should be feasible to work out when it might be a really crazy idea to be telling the user to start following a different route to the one they're currently on, due to the need to make a sudden change of lanes, and…

Midpoint
It’s called midpoint. You put in your starting location and the other persons starting location. You then search for a place you wanna meet up, and it calculates where the middle ground is (you can also make it someone drives more than another if you want). Put in the time you wanna meet up, it tells you when to go. When you start the drive, you can alert the other person you are on the way, and the other person can respond w the same. You can see both cars on the overview, send a notification if you…

Traffic green light forecaster
How accurately waze could be able to forecast green lights?
When a wazer gets a green light, she will start moving. If this information is collected from several wazers, would it be enought to gather the traffic light interval and after that forecast next turn-to-green moment? If this is possible, the next wazer could be given information if she need to accelerate or decelerate to arrive on greens. Following theses advices, she could get a green wave throught any wazer-populated city ;-)

Waze "Local Knowledge" feature
Waze should have a feature called "Local Knowledge". Since most routes start at the same place, home, the user wouldn't need to know/HEAR all the individual turns to get out of their own neighborhood every time. The user should be able to set up a radius around a point where they have familiarity of different increments say, 1mile, 2miles, 5 miles, where only the visual route is shown on the screen and the audio is MUTED. Then once the user is outside of the predefined radius, the audio starts again. There should also be the ability to set up…

Connect Waze to other apps with IFTTT-channels
Waze collect a lot of useful information throughout a trip. This information could be used to by other apps, if there was a way to connect them. IFTTT is a very popular way to do this. Simple recipes allow for strong applets, in the form of IF This Then That.
Examples:
If I reach my destination, then log my trip to a Google Doc Spreadsheet.
If I reach my destination, then send a notification to person x.
If I am x miles from my destination, open my garage.
If I start my trip, then turn my thermostat then to the…10 votes -
Allow assigning a dropped pin as Home or Work addresses!
My Home Garage is accesses through a long lane way / alley. My work parking beneath the building is accessed from a small side street. The result is that driving directions approach both locations from the wrong direction. I waste time in both directions & navigation needs to be manually ended.
Please allow me to assign a dropped pin as my addresses. Thanks!
1 voteFeel free to set your work address from current location. Here’s how:
1. Travel to needed location (e.g. your work parking)
2. In app open menu on the left, click on your profile name and select “Home and Work” menu
3. Select “Set work address” (if no work address added) or tap the edit button on existing work address.
4. Select “Current location”. -
"Where To?" should disappear a minute or two after a drive starts
"Where To?" every. single. time. I start my car is insane. I don't need to plot my every move. I run to the store or go to work/home way more then I need directions. Waze is my default for traffic alerts and contributing to them when running around town. If no "Where To?" is chosen a couple of minutes after the drive starts, make it close automatically.

Include a naming system for roads with multiple lanes such as apple , blueberry or carrot etc .
A naming system for lanes could help with direction and lane maintenance .

Show speed cameras before starting drive
Here in Germany, having an app that shows you the speed camera just when coming near the camera has gotten illegal. But it is legal to check for speed cameras before starting the journey. It would be good if Waze would show speed cameras on the overview route just after calculating the route.
