1. Add support for government emergency alerts (cell broadcast integration) to notify drivers entering affected areas

   As a Waze volunteer editor, I’d like to suggest integrating a feature that uses official cell broadcast emergency alerts sent by governments or national agencies (such as AMBER Alerts, severe weather warnings, or public safety alerts).

   The idea is simple: when a Waze user drives into an area where a cell broadcast alert was recently sent, the app could display a notification or short message about it — even if that driver didn’t originally receive the alert on their phone because they were outside the area at the time.

   This feature could be extremely valuable in real-life situations, such as:
   • Missing or abducted persons (AMBER Alerts): Drivers might spot a vehicle or person described in the alert.
   • Severe accidents or road closures: Helps users understand unexpected congestion or hazards.
   • Public safety warnings: For example, dangerous weather events, wildfires, or police searches in specific regions.

   Waze already excels at community-based awareness, and this feature would extend that community role to public safety. It could help save lives, assist law enforcement, and make Waze even more valuable as a real-time information platform.

   To prevent spam or overload, the system could only display verified government alerts, limited by category and relevance (e.g., within 30–50 km, or active within the last few hours).

3. Time restricted entry to UK roads

   There are roads mainly in London, but increasingly around the UK, where there are restrictions on the times that vehicles can enter. This is usually during peak times such as school runs and LTN aka Low Traffic Neighbourhoods. Proceeding into these roads will result in a penalty as they are covered by ANPR technology.

   It would be good to have a facility to add these restrictions.

4. Android Auto alerts highly intrusive, even dangerous

   [On a knob-controlled UI]
   Popups like “Police ahead”, and “vehicle on shoulder ahead” can be very intrusive. They seem to appear much earlier than before and there is no way to simply dismiss it without confirming or negating the alert. I would suggest that hitting the “Back” button should dismiss the alert.

   Responding to the alert is way too involved. When I get an alert, the “Still there” button is highlighted, however it is not the selected control. Usually, the Search button is. So, it looks like I can just click my knob to confirm the alert, but when I do the whole screen clears and I am brought into your search menu system. This is incredibly disruptive, usually happening at the worst possible moment because of the first problem I mentioned – the inability to simply dismiss the alert. Further, to actually select one of the responses I have to spin the knob to move through every other control on the screen: Search, Routes, Dismiss, Map move, Map zoom in, Map zoom out, Submit an alert… Again, this is incredibly disruptive and could easily cause an accident because I am forced to look at the screen while selecting from a dozen items just to dismiss the popup that is now blocking my map. I really can’t emphasize enough of how annoying, and frankly dangerous, this is

5. Kangaroo Alert Feature for Australian Waze Users

   I’d love to suggest adding a new alert option for kangaroo sightings near roads. In Australia, kangaroos are a significant cause of vehicle collisions, especially around dawn and dusk. It would be incredibly helpful if drivers could mark kangaroo sightings or active areas on the Waze map, just as they can mark hazards or police alerts.

   This could appear as a small kangaroo icon, notifying nearby drivers to slow down or stay alert. It would improve safety for both drivers and wildlife, helping reduce collisions, injuries, and road damage.

   Since Waze already supports user-reported hazards, this would fit naturally into the app’s existing alert system.

6. Wrong Directions Given

   I contacted Waze because last night I was in a large mobile home park & kept getting directions to turn where there was no road, getting wrong distances to roads & destination. At one point I was in the middle of the road with no homes around & told I had reached my destination. I was also told that at an intersection. If I hadn't been familiar with the area, it could have been dangerous. There isn't enough distance time given for turning either.

9. Offer Premium paid Subscription

   You should offer a premium version business or professional drivers can subscribe to where there are added premium features . For example features like adding your type of make and model of vehicle so the ETA time is more accurate and takes into consideration your miles per gallon and can include time for gas fill ups and rest stops so the ETA is more accurate. Also more functionality with sharing your location and allowing those you share your location with to request your location if sharing stops working or you close the app accidentally. Also, reports from travel done that can be downloaded into excel or PDF. I'd like to see what side of the road crashes or construction are on. I'd pay for more features and I think others would too

10. Motorcycle mode.

    As part of the list of requests for "Motorcycle Mode", I'd also like to ask that you add the following feature, something that has literally saved my life. Highlight "Objects on the road" hazards as a high level warning. By that I mean, maybe flash the danger on the UI, and have a different voice over warning. Normally warnings are "Vehicle on side of road". Those aren't a huge hazard, but objects on the road like a blown tire, metal flashing ..etc, are huge dangers for riders.

    A great update to this would also be notifying other drivers that a motorcyclist is approaching. We have very limited visibility on the road, it would be great if users in cars would be notified that a motorcycle is near them, or even better, splitting lanes.

    Thank you for your suggestion! As you may know, Waze already has Motorcycle Mode included in the app. To change your vehicle type, tap Settings > Car Details > Vehicle type.

11. Show Suburb Name While Driving

    It would be very useful if Waze could display the current suburb/locality name on the main navigation screen while driving. At the moment, suburb names only appear faintly on the map or in some voice instructions, but they are not always visible.

    Having the suburb name clearly shown (for example, near the top or bottom of the screen) would help drivers quickly know which suburb they are in, especially in large cities with many small suburbs. This would improve situational awareness and make navigation more convenient.

13. Save lives by alerting motorists that critically endangered Red Wolves are living near highways

    Red Wolves are critically endangered and living in North Carolina near the Outer Banks. Several Red Wolves have been killed by vehicle strikes as millions of people travel to the beach each year. Sadly, many humans and different wildlife species have also lost their lives in this area because many in the traveling public simply do not know what they are traveling through, which is one of the most fragmented habitats within the East Coast. We need a Red Wolf icon and a tagline alerting motorists to slow down once they enter into Red Wolf country. This will not only save the lives of the most endangered wolf on the planet, it will save human lives and other wild lives! US 64/US 264 and NC 94 are the main highways needing alerts in this area. 14. Car Play Addition

    Greetings,
    I’ve been using the Waze App on my phone for years. I recently started using Waze through Apple Car Play in my new vehicle.
    While I’m enjoying it, I am missing one feature that is on my phone app.
    That feature is being able to see the “turn by turn” directions.
    All I’m able to see on the Car Play version is the next turn.
    I’ve become used to being able to look ahead and see where Waze is sending me.
    While I can pull out my phone a see the “turn by turn” directions, that defeats the safety of Car Play and takes my eyes and hands away from where they should be.
    I truly hope you are considering adding this feature in the future.

15. ALERTA DE RADARES EM FUNCIONAMENTO NOTURNO. LIGADO-DESLIGADO ALERT OF RADARS IN NIGHT WORKING. ON OFF

    Prezados Especialistas WAZE,

    Venho através desta, levantar uma situação que aflige a todos os motoristras brasileiros e se aplica consequentemente a todos os usuários do nosso tão querido WAZE.

    Acabo de receber uma multa em que meu veiculo foi fotografado após avançar um sinal às 01h59min em rua do Rio de Janeiro.

    Em nota, as autoridades policiais recomendam a prática de avançar o sinal à noite já que o Estado se confessa incapaz de garantir a segurança do cidadão no horário noturno. Por meio disso, acreditava que os fotossensores não multassem por avanço de sinal à noite em determinado horário.

    Assim, faço o seguinte questionamento: Devemos respeitar os sinais de trânsito na noite/madrugada violentas do Rio de Janeiro? Não todos, só alguns? Quais?

    Afirmo pessoalmente que a este horário eu não paro em semáforo nem que o presidente esteja ao meu lado parado! No entanto, o código de trânsito é espresso que a sinalização deve ser seguida.

    Pela nossa constituição, em suas cláusulas pétreas (paste da constituição que nada pode transgredir impune) lhe garante em seu artigo 5 o direito a vida, o que na hora da infração encontrava-se em eminente risco devido ao horário e precedentes de criminalidade impune na cidade;

    Está também inserido no Código Penal a excludente de ilicitude chamada " ESTADO DE NECESSIDADE" perfeitamente cabível aqui no Rio onde a violência ocorre a todo momento.

    Nas vias administrativas, a CTB não acata tal argumento e as companhias de transito costumam ser bastantes intrasigentes, onde o jeito mesmo é partir para o judiciário, sob pena de se juntar 20 pontos na CNH.Não existe sensibilidade política nem administrativa para dispensarem as multas no período noturno; o objetivo é simplesmente arrecadar sem a mínima consideração ao ser humano que já se vê arrochado com a carga tributária maior do mundo.

    Em contrapartida, outro ponto que deve ser levantado é que, existem excessões de horário no CTB quanto a sinalização em pontos estratégicos na cidade do Rio de Janeiro como tambem em todas as cidades brasileiras.

    Então, através deste mesmo ponto, percebo a INCONTESTÁVEL necessidade de auxilio junto ao WAZE para que nós motoristas possamos encontrar um equilibrio comum e obtermos uma ferramenta PODEROSA em favor de acatarmos as legislações de transito sem nos colocarmos em constantes riscos desnecessários.

    SERIA POSSÍVEL PARA O WAZE APLICAR UMA OPÇÃO DE FERRAMENTA DE INFORMAÇÃO DE ALERTA NA ROTA ONDE, O RADAR SEMAFORICO INDICADO NO PERCUSO SE APRESENTE ATIVO OU DESLIGADO MEDIANTE AS INFORMAÇÕES DO CTB?

    ACREDITO QUE UMA OPÇÃO LEMBRETE TÃO EFICIENTE COMO "LIGAR FAROIS" OU TANTOS OUTROS ALERTAS JÁ DISPONÍVEIS PODERIAM RESOLVER O CASO APRESENTADO OU MINIMIZÁ-LO BASTANTE.

    POIS COM ESTE ALERTA PODEREMOS REAVALIAR NOSSO GRAU E CONDIÇÕES DE RISCO JUNTO AO LOCAL E PROSSEGUIR O TRAJETO COM MAIS EFICIENCIA E SEGURANÇA.

    Realmente me sinto desconfortável neste assunto porque procuro me pautar por princípios éticos e também sou crítico do jeitinho brasildeiro concordando na legitimidade do comprimento da Lei, no entanto, uma pessoa que fique numa rua deserta à meia noite ou às 4 da manhã esperando o sinal abrir é também antiético no sentido que coloca em risco desnecessário a vida.

    Dear WAZE Experts,

    I come across this, raise a situation that afflicts all Brazilian motorists and applies accordingly to all users of our beloved WAZE.

    I have just received a fine on which my vehicle was photographed after a signal at 1:39 am on the street in Rio de Janeiro.

    In a note, police authorities recommend the practice of advancing the signal at night as the state confesses unable to ensure the safety of the citizen at night time. Accordingly, he believed that the photosensors would not charge by signal advance at night at a certain time.

    So, I ask the following question: Should we respect the traffic signs in the violent night / dawn of Rio de Janeiro? Not all, just a few? Which are?

    I personally say that at this time I do not stop at traffic lights or that the president is standing beside me! However, the traffic code is espresso that signage must be followed.

    By its constitution, in its stony clauses (paste of the constitution that nothing can transgress unpunished) guarantees in its article 5 the right to life, which at the time of the infraction was in imminent risk due to the schedule and precedents of impunity crime in the City;

    Also included in the Penal Code is the exclusion of illegality called "STATE OF NEED" perfectly applicable here in Rio where violence occurs at all times.

    On administrative routes, the CTB does not accept such an argument and the transit companies tend to be quite intrasigentes, where the way is to leave for the judiciary, failing to join 20 points in the CNH.     IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE FOR WAZE TO APPLY AN ALERT INFORMATION TOOL OPTION ON THE ROUTE WHERE THE SEMAPHHORIC RADAR INDICATED IN THE PICKUP IS PRESENTED OR DISABLED THROUGH THE CTB INFORMATION?

    I BELIEVE THAT AN OPTION TO REMEMBER AS EFFICIENT AS "CONNECTING LIGHTHOUSES" OR MANY OTHER ALERTS AVAILABLE NOW COULD RESOLVE THE CASE PRESENTED OR MINIMIZE IT ENOUGH.

    FOR THIS ALERT, WE WILL BE ABLE TO RANGE OUR DEGREE AND RISK CONDITIONS NEAR THE LOCAL AND PURSUE THE PATH WITH MORE EFFICIENCY AND SAFETY.

    I really feel uncomfortable in this matter because I try to be guided by ethical principles and I am also critical of the Brazilian way of agreeing on the legitimacy of the length of the Law, however, a person who stays on a deserted street at midnight or at 4 in the morning waiting for the sign to open Is also unethical in the sense that it puts unnecessary risk to life.

    In order to facilitate that this information regarding which radars and their respective schedules are determined in the CTB of Rio de Janeiro, I am enclosing an updated list of them so that this alert tool is available as soon as possible, Help where necessary.

    Em nota, as autoridades policiais recomendam a prática de avançar o sinal à noite já que o Estado se confessa incapaz de garantir a segurança do cidadão no horário noturno. Por meio disso, acreditava que os fotossensores não multassem por avanço de sinal à noite em determinado horário.

16. screen rotation

    Screen rotation. I use Waze on android, and I don't have a phone holder in many of the vehicles I drive for work, so I invert my phone (because the charging cable is plugged in) and put it in the cup holder. The map does not re-orient with the phone rotation, so the map and everything on it is upside down. It's been like this for a long time and I'm kinda getting used to it, but it would be nice to not perform mental gymnastics to figure out what I need to do while I'm also supposed to be concentrating on driving.

17. Update algorithms for common sense

    I travel to work on a 4 lane divided highway. Same car, same route, same phone, every day. I continually get that damned CHIRP as I'm driving 80 mph down the divided highway and it will recalculate, thinking I've somehow made a miraculous 90 degree turn to the right, at 80 mph, and it thinks it has to recalculate my route. 1) how about you put some common sense into your algorithms, that will figure "this vehicle has been on this highway for xx miles, it hasn't slowed down any...so it must not be turning onto the side street". 2) can you FINALLY give us the option to TURN OFF THAT DAMNED CHIRP??? It should be an easy thing - put a tick-box in the settings page. Simple. Or, just have it turn off when the user switches to "alerts only". Thank you.

18. Proposal for Drone-Based Navigation Feature in Waze

    Dear Waze Management Team,

    My name is Mehdi Shojaei, and as a loyal and frequent user of Waze, I would like to share an idea that could significantly enhance both the user experience and driving safety.

    Nowadays, some modern vehicles (especially new Chinese models) have introduced an innovative feature where a drone is deployed to scan the road ahead and provide the driver with live, useful information. This technology ensures that drivers can stay informed about upcoming traffic, obstacles, or road conditions without being distracted or forced to make sudden stops.

    I would like to suggest that Waze implement a similar concept in a digital and animated form within the app. The idea is as follows:

    The navigation arrow (route indicator) could be redesigned as a digital drone.

    This drone could “take off” from the map either when the user presses a dedicated button or automatically when the Waze AI deems it necessary, scanning the route ahead.

    The scanned information could then be displayed visually and interactively for the driver.

    This feature would not only improve the visual appeal and engagement of Waze but would also contribute greatly to driver safety. Currently, many users manually drag and scroll through the map to see traffic conditions ahead, which is both time-consuming and potentially dangerous while driving.

    I sincerely appreciate the continuous efforts of the Waze team to provide the best navigation experience worldwide and hope this idea will be considered for future updates.

19. Add Alert for Roadside Assistance Vehicles (Australia)

    I’d like to suggest adding a specific alert or hazard option for stationary roadside assistance vehicles in Australia (e.g. RAA, tow trucks). A new rule in South Australia—and soon other states—requires drivers to slow down to 25 km/h when passing these vehicles displaying flashing amber lights.

    Including a reportable category or automatic alert would help increase compliance, improve safety for roadside workers, and align with local road laws.

20. App development / upgrade to display larger MPH on cellphone while using Carplay or Android Auto

    Can Waze find a way to display the speed limit in large font on the cell phone in conjuntion with and while using Apple Carplay. Today when I open The Waze app on my cellphone while using Car play I get the turn by turn directions listed out. My idea would be an option to switch that to a larger MPH display/displays on the cellphone which would be easier to see that the smaller MPH that is on the map. Just a thought but I think you guys can do it.
