1. No alerting caps

   Waze does not alert at all reported fixed phone / police cameras because of caps on alerts on regularly travelled roads exposing drivers who forget about cameras to fines. This is confirmed by by WAZE's team: "This means that you may not get alerted about everything on your route". There is no option to set to 'always alert'. Please add the option of full and reduced alerting.

2. Congestion Charge

   Can you please install a warning (like with speed cameras and speed limits) that shows up when you are approaching a congestion charge zone? Also, the option to colour the CCZ map in red so you are aware of what roads to avoid? Got bitten by this with a PCN and was only one small road just off the ring road! At least a ‘speed limit style warning’ will give you an ability to know to pay before being fined!

   The Washington State Department of Transportation now provides real-time toll rates for the I-405 express toll lanes as a publicly available live data stream for software developers. The API is publicly available here: http://wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/api/ , along with several other live data streams including traffic flow, travel times, and highway cameras.

   We would love to see this data integrated into the Waze app to help drivers make more informed choices about their route options.

   The I-405 express toll lanes let drivers choose a more reliable trip by paying a toll on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Toll rates adjust depending on real-time traffic conditions and update every 5 minutes. Carpools with the right number of occupants (depending on time of day) can use the express toll lanes for free with a Flex Pass.

4. WME PH Only show at higher zoom

   Feedback on new icons for Place Hazards (Cameras, Railroad crossings). (from another editor's posting in Waze Discuss)

   In WME: hazards show on the map all the way out to Zoom 14! at this Zoom, even the railroad segment isn't rendered - does the hazard need to render this far?

   In areas like NYC, WME performance is already poor (for making edits, panning and zooming in).

   Now these icons also render out to Zoom Level 14, covering multiple streets, nodes, etc.

   Not too long ago we had an update for UR and PUR pills to group up (cluster) to reduce clutter, but now these new Hazard icons are just making it worse.

5. Speedcam reporting in Client.

   Please add possibillity to set speed limit of road when reporting speed cameras. This will make it 10 times easier to get quality data. Perhaps even when reporting the speed cam, an quick enter speed limit dialogue with the road signs of the country. Something that could be downloaded with the voice files perhaps?

   Currently, alerts for speed cameras, police, and speed bumps are shown too close to the actual point. I would like to suggest that Waze allow users to configure the distance in advance for these alerts (for example: 500m, 1km, 2km).

   Benefits:

   More reaction time and safer speed adjustment.

   Prevents sudden braking right on top of the radar or obstacle.

   Improves user experience, especially on highways and fast roads.

   This customization would be very useful for drivers, particularly on long-distance routes.

   Although I adore the app, many local updates—particularly those regarding speed bumps and road closures—are absent.

    RANDOM DISCONNECTS: Random disconnects that report the phone is no longer connected when it is connected. I use a Samsung S20FE. Disconnecting and reconnecting the high-quality USB cable does not help. To isolate whether the issue is the cable, I've tried multiple cables. They all have the same random disconnect issue.

    SCREEN DISPLAY: I've also run into something when the connection is working and I'm using Waze (my favorite GPS app). When I use the right turn signal the screen switches from the GPS display to the side camera, as it should. But when the turn signal ends, the screen does not return to the GPS screen. It usually jumps to the Android Auto menu. This means taking my eyes off the road to use the touch screen to return to Waze. Is there a hidden setting that will force the system to stay on the map or to return to whatever app was shown before activating the right turn signal?

    Quick suggestion.. try to develop a notification for alerts (turns, speed cameras, etc.) for when Waze isn't on top... Just like Google maps navigation does.

12. Red light timer

    I propose a button that can be toggled to pop up when on surface streets, it is a simple light that you tap once to turn red, and again to turn back to green. The idea is you would press it when you see the light change, which is not necessarily when you stop or go. What this would do is help Waze better understand how long in various traffic scenarios a red light will take to get through. In some traffic, you may switch the light from green to red and back multiple times. This will also give an aggregate time a certain light is programmed to change (If it is noticed to be constant, rather than triggered by a camera), and can then help give reasonable probability of how much time the traffic light will add to your trip total. In NYC, for instance, some detours put you on surface streets with tons of lights; some are on timers that allow tor a steady traffic flow. Others are not.

    Waze reacts to this by asking you if you are in traffic; there might be heavy volume, but the traffic lights are really the reason for the traffic going nowhere. I.e, the traffic is the fault of the traffic lights, not that volume was too heavy to begin with.

    A simple button that looks like a traffic light; it defaults as green, and you click it if you feel safe to do so to change it to red. Then back again when it changes. It could even show a timer on the screen so you know how long it has gone. Who knows, you may even be rewarded with points for setting the. ‘Record” ! I think this is a nice companion to the traffic congestion pop up monitor.

13. Displaying the sections where the speed of travel from point A to point B is recorded by the cameras of the Toll system for vignettes.

    Hello Bulgaria, but not only Bulgaria. Since the beginning of September 2025, the toll system that monitors purchased vignettes has started measuring average speed in certain sections of the road network.

    Unfortunately, these road sections are not marked on the road itself, and drivers have no way of knowing that they are entering these sections.
    The state, represented by the Road Agency and the Toll System, published a list and map on their website showing where these sections are located, and that was the end of the information on this change.
    It is clear that the state is doing this to increase revenue from fines, not to prevent speeding and manage road traffic intelligently.

    My suggestion is to put these road sections with cameras on Waze so that drivers are informed when they pass through them.

14. Don't save a Prayer - Send a Message - OCC - Open Cam Car 33 - Brasil

    Hello my name is Raphael Malatesta i'm 36 years old i wasborn and live in São Paulo City Brazil. I have a FIAT STRADA 1.6 16 car. Today i was travelling throght two cities transporting some things and on the top of this car charge had an mattress. I tied it with an cord but to my surprise when i finished my final destiny where was the mattress? I lose it during the travell. I remember that an car truck driver used your own horn to something but i don't realized nothing wrong and i followed the travel. But it is the true: the mattress dropped down in some place of the strada. Now 24/10/19 in the same day that it ocurred i will call to the Ecovias - the strada administrator of Rodoanel Mário Covas - to receive notices about it. Now i'm at home writing this but i had the caution to do the reversed way to observe if some accident was ocurried. Thank God nothing. Some days before i was thinking about an App called OCC - Open Cam Car 33 - it in this case would be proof this situation that can do fatal victims. I will explain how it works: using a support to cell phone on car but with the camera directioned to the street would save the last 33 seconds and record it. Think about, in case an accident it would be usefull to clarify the facts, but we can go beyond, registering the car plate number license, color and model and attribuiting an ip to it sure observing the privacy of each person, messages can be exchanged about dangerous situations on traffic and surprising because an person before a row car jam can see the camera view of the car foward. An interesting resource. The possibilities are enormeous. And using it with an serius propouse surrounding properly the variables the benefit of it can regret the Waze team if not implemented. 15. Use vector engine

    I am writing to share a suggestion that I believe could significantly improve the driving experience in Waze navigation.

    Currently, roundabouts in Waze are displayed as segmented roads rather than smooth, circular vectors. This design works functionally, but it can make navigation less intuitive, especially in complex roundabouts with many exits. Sometimes, the segmented view even increases the risk of missing the correct exit because the visual flow is not entirely clear.

    By contrast, TomTom GO Navigation adopts a fully vector-based rendering of roundabouts. This makes the roundabout appear as a continuous, smooth circle, and when approaching it, the app slightly elevates the camera angle—as if viewed from a drone—providing a clear, immediate understanding of the roundabout layout and exits. The result is not only more visually appealing but also much more reassuring and practical while driving.

    I believe implementing a similar vector-based approach in Waze would:

    Provide a smoother, more natural driving experience.

    Reduce confusion in roundabouts with multiple exits.

    Make the navigation visually more modern and enjoyable.

16. The May 2023 release of Waze is terrible. Please go back to the previous version.

    Here are the problems I have observed with the May 2023 release of Waze and why I would rather go back to the previous version.
    1. It defaults to having a menu open on the left asking where you want to go with the list of your frequent destinations. I preferred the previous version where if I wanted to navigate somewhere it was easy to click the search icon and bring up this menu.
    2. The menu of locations has Home and then a list of recent places I have gone. The previous version listed Home and then WORK and then the list of recent places. I most often will click on WORK and it's not in the menu anymore.
    3. When I close the menu mentioned in 1 above and just drive, it skews the display and shows my location on the left side of the display. Then, whenever an alert pops up like "stop light camera ahead" or "railroad crossing ahead," the pop up comes up on the left side and blocks the view so I can't see where I am on the map or where the hazard is that's coming up. I would rather it left my position in the center of the display and didn't obscure my position when alerts pop up.
    4. The system is effectively useless now in a car without a touch screen. In my 2018 vehicle, I do not have a touch screen. I have a wheel I spin to highlight the different buttons on the screen and then push in on the wheel to select whatever I have highlighted. In the previous software version, when a pop up like "police reported ahead" or "road kill on road ahead" came on the screen, I could easily spin the wheel to highlight the "there" button and leave it. If I saw the police officer or road kill, I could push in on the wheel to click the "there" button on the screen. If it wasn't there, I could swist the wheel one click to highlight the "not there" button and push in on the wheel to click on the "not there" button. This functionality is completely removed by the latest Waze update. Now, when a pop-up shows up on the screen, it refreshes every couple of seconds. If I try twisting my selector wheel to highlight the "there" button, a couple of seconds later, it resets the display and my cursor goes back to the default highlighting the search magnifying glass icon. I've tried several times to click on "there" or "not there" but by the time I twist the wheel and get the cursor down to the 'there" or "not there" button on the screen, the display resets and moves my cursor back up to the magnifying glass icon again. As it pertains to paragraph 3 above, I can't click on the X to make the "railroad crossing ahead" or "traffic light camera ahead" pop-up go away. If I try to spin the wheel to get to the X to close the pop-up, by the time I get the cursor there, it resets the display again and puts my cursor back up at the magnifying glass. So I have no way to close the pop-ups, and every time a pop-up comes on screen it blocks my view of my location as I stated in paragraph 3.
    5. The whole point and original intent behind Android Auto was to make cars safer by reducing distracted driving. In the old Waze, the speedometer display included the speed limit, the current car speed, and small tick marks to show how far above or below the speed limit you were driving. The tick marks were red if you were above the speed limit or black if you were below the speed limit. It was VERY easy to very briefly glance at the screen and know if I was close to the speed limit and fine or if I was significantly above or below and needed to adjust my speed. The most recent version of Waze got rid of the tick marks. Now it's just the numbers in black or red if you're above the speed limit, but it takes just that much more attention on the display and mental engagement to determine how far off is my speed from the speed limit. The tick marks in the previous version took no mental processing and very little attention on the display. You are forcing drivers to spend more time looking at the screen by getting rid of those tick marks on the speed indication.
    6. It doesn't navigate me where I want to go anymore. In the previous version, I would say "navigate to ______" and Waze would bring up a list of destinations that it thought might match my desired location and I would click on the one I want. Now, it doesn't show me options and it just starts navigating to the WRONG place. In one example, I did a voice command "Navigate to Water Drops Car Wash" which is the name of a specific drive thru car wash just a mile away. Waze has correctly navigated me to Water Drops Car Wash in the past before the update. Now, Waze automatically started navigating me to the closest car wash that was only 0.2 miles away, but it was a self service car wash and not named Water Drops, so NOT the correct, desired destination.
    7. When I put my car in reverse, it turns the rear view camera on. When I take it out of reverse and the camera image goes away, it doesn't go back to Waze. It goes back to the Android Auto app menu and I have to tell it to go back to Waze. I realize this is likely an Android Auto problem not necessarily a Waze problem.

    I hope this feedback is constructive and helpful in improving Waze.

    Here are the problems I have observed with the May 2023 release of Waze and why I would rather go back to the previous version.
    1. It defaults to having a menu open on the left asking where you want to go with the list of your frequent destinations. I preferred the previous version where if I wanted to navigate somewhere it was easy to click the search icon and bring up this menu.

    Personalized notification. Some of the notification I am always interested in others I am only interested in when I am pulling a trailer. Consider allowing personalization of the notification choices. When commuting to/from work when not pulling a trailer I am concerned with Police Officers on the side of the road and objects on the road. I drive the route most every day and know where the red light and speed cameras are located. I do not need to receive notification of these every day as they are static. Having a way to capture MOBILE speed cameras is something that would be nice as they are distinct from fixed and should be treated similar to police cars.

18. Speed in School Zone is 30 km

    If the App gives a warning of school zone coming up in 50 meters, it will be very helpful for the driver to slow down well in advance. In the school zone, if someone is speeding the map should show a bigger warning & may be talk to the driver about cameras giving tickets.

20. Improve Waze for all (professional drivers like taxi drivers, truck drivers and bus drivers as well)

    Feedback for Waze Improvements (Australia-specific but globally relevant):
    1. Map and Speed Limit Accuracy
    • Please update maps and speed limit data more frequently, especially in Australia where road rules and limits are often updated.
    • Ensure that the speedometer always shows the correct speed limit without disappearing or failing, as this can mislead drivers and cause unintentional speeding.
    • Improve reliability so the speedometer never stops working unexpectedly.
    2. Audible Alerts and Driver Focus
    • Introduce louder and clearer spoken alerts for every speed limit change, so drivers do not have to look at their phone screen.
    • Provide audible alerts for all types of cameras (speed cameras, red-light cameras, mobile speed traps, school zone cameras, bus lane cameras, etc.), not just fixed speed cameras.
    • This would greatly improve driver safety and focus on the road, especially for professional drivers who cannot afford distractions.
    3. Truck and Bus Navigation
    • Add full navigation support for all classes of heavy vehicles, including:
    • Light Rigid (LR)
    • Medium Rigid (MR)
    • Heavy Rigid (HR)
    • Heavy Combination (HC)
    • Multi-Combination (MC)
    • All categories of buses.
    • Include truck- and bus-specific routing options, such as avoiding low bridges, restricted roads, weight limits, and bus-only roads.
    • Many drivers who rely on Waze for personal car trips would also like to use Waze for their professional work in trucks and buses, but currently, Waze does not fully meet these needs.
    4. Professional Driver Use Case
    • Waze has a huge opportunity to support professional drivers (truckers, bus drivers, delivery drivers, etc.) who want the same smart navigation and community-based alerts they enjoy in their cars.
    • Expanding features to include heavy vehicle navigation and more robust audible alerts would make Waze not only the best app for personal use but also the top choice for professional driving.
