1. RPPs should allow alternate street names

   Residential Place Points are limited to a single entry for the Street Name field. This creates an issue when streets have multiple names, not just officially but also in signage at different intersections.

   An example, local to myself, is OR-99W. This is a state route, so it has its numbered designation (OR-99W), as well as its route name, which is carried through every city it traverses (Pacific Highway West). However, signage for this road in a single city can and does vary between either of those names, plus other, more localized variations (SW Pacific Hwy, Pacific Hwy (without directionals), etc.).

   With all this different signage present, I think it understandable that users should expect to search for an address with any variation of the street name and find the same Place Point, rather than having editors create separate RPPs for each variation of the street name.

   This could be accomplished by:
   • Allowing the addition of multiple Alternate Street Names to each RPP
   • Some kind of centralized list of 1:1 street name aliases, like a very strict thesaurus, wherein Street Name & City combinations are associated with each other.

2. Save a route with stop(s)

   If you are carpooling (or for another reason) with pick-up/drop-off points between the start and end points, it would be great to save this route with the stops as a preset or favorite. This also implies the suggestion already proposed to add the ability for more than one stop.

3. Reverse driving directions

   Where you have the To and From locations at the top of the screen with the arrow separating the two, you might give the ability for a user to tap on that arrow or an icon that would reverse those driving directions.

   Where this would be helpful: in my case, I have two kids that play sports and often get rides with other parents to and from San Diego to orange county. This drive time fluctuates so much based on traffic that this would be helpful to know when I can expect my kids to get home. They don’t always call. Thank you, Charlie

4. Miscellaneous Suggestions - Reporting Items Not There and Hazards

   I would suggest having the ability to select reports and mark them as not there. For instance, oncoming traffic reports of speed traps or traffic that have since cleared up but not timed out.

   Also reporting a road hazard of disabled vehicle on the road. Currently there's vehicle on shoulder and you can report an accident on the road. We should be able to note a disabled vehicle blocking one lane.

   Lastly there should be the ability to note in an accident if it's affecting both sides (when EMS responds from both directions and closes lanes), when the road is closed as a result of the major accident thus allowing Waze to re-route everyone taking that road, and an accident report with rubbernecking which would indicate the accident but also there's a traffic jam (one or both sides) as a result of onlookers.

8. Node Types - Multi use and meaningful for routes (Traffic Lights, Lane Guidance, etc)

   An intersection always has a node, this node could become much more meaningful than simple turns and could significantly enhance the functionality of Waze (albeit with a significant development penalty).

   By adding some logic to nodes you will be able to introduce some logic that will significantly enhance the ability for the routing engine to calculate superior routes when taking in things like traffic light penalties and other metrics.

   1) You can collect timing metrics for intersections much more efficiently, and potentially learn intersection timing and other factors which will help produce much more accurate route timings without depending on segment traversal metrics (which in has many drawbacks, including underutilisation not populating metrics for meaningful calculations) it could become a cumulative metric for "hour of day" leading to a permanent figure affecting routing evaluation.

   2) By adding a widget in the editor for "in/out lanes, including directions" to the node, you can build lane guidance at the node level for routing and direction purposes. Admittedly it would lead to some level of complexity, and ideally a L3 and above editor would only be able to configure this one with training.

   3) Default penalty of 30 seconds could be applied to any intersection with a traffic light which would lead to meaningful routing choices without any cumulative data. Many routes are much faster by avoiding long drives with many traffic lights, even if those roads have more meaningful segment data than others.

   I personally don't use many of the Waze routes in my city as I know the area well enough and which side streets to use that avoid traffic lights at each time of day, and my choices are based almost exclusively due to traffic light delays (often leading to significant time savings depending on the length of journey). Introducing this same choice into the routing engine may very well lead to a market leading engine that is significantly different from all the rest, and the only way it can be implemented is through user editing like Waze.

9. Clicking any "All Turns" list item zooms to location (upcoming in route)

   During navigation, there is no short/simple way to look at a location point of your route ahead. Regardless, a simple and low click, logical solution would be to achieve looking at your upcoming route point for traffic purposes (or whatever reason) would be looking at your "All Turns" list (1 click) then one could scroll through all the upcoming turns, select a location (2nd click), and the screen then reverts to your map route, but targeted to view the turn selected on the "All Turns" list. Returning to the original view where the experience started is as simple as pressing the crosshairs on the map in the currently targeted view. I hope others see the simple, low-click, value added, and logical experience of this new feature request. I get frustrated virtually every other Waze use by not having such a feature. Thank you for your time, consideration to develop and implement as well as to vote all 3 votes for this new feature.

10. Extreme Temperature Crisis Response

    Waze should add Extreme Temperature events to the Crisis Response process. As extreme heat events and extreme cold events become more and more frequent, citizens are going to increasingly need to find and navigate to Cooling Centers and Warming Centers that local governments and emergency planners open when the weather gets too hot or too cold. These types of extreme temperature events often put a big strain on power grids, and when temperatures reach dangerous levels, they need to quickly find shelter from the extreme temperatures. Many people have reliable heating and cooling at home, but unless they have backup generators too, they can fall victim to the weather without a safe shelter to go to.

    I propose that Waze add Extreme Temperature Crisis Response as a separate category, as the current crisis response feature is not well suited for extreme temperature events (if we tried using the current feature, it would probably confuse too many Wazers).

    Extreme temperature crisis response will require specific messaging; "Need directions to a shelter?" is perhaps too vague during an extreme temperature event, as most people take for granted that they have access to heating or cooling. Instead the push notifications should prompt "Need directions to a cooling center?" when it is very hot and "Need directions to a warming center?" when it is very cold.

    A proposed new place category such as "Cooling / Heating Center" could be used when adding these types of emergency shelters to the maps. "Cooling Center" and "Heating Center" could perhaps be used as Alt-Names for the places.

    I have set up some example places in the City of Pittsburgh, which are easily found by searching for "Cooling Center". The City of Pittsburgh is opening several cooling centers throughout the city this week as a result of extreme heat expected in the region this week. Any time the forecast temperature exceeds 90 degrees Fahrenheit, the city opens its cooling centers with extended hours.

    Extreme heat is the biggest killer in the U.S. and Waze's crisis response functionality can help save lives if changes are made to the feature to specifically address extreme temperature events.

    Waze should add Extreme Temperature events to the Crisis Response process.     Viewing, posting and confirming "planned closures" of roads, streets, etc :

    1- View on the map "planned closures" at a given future date.

    2- View on the map if a given road had a "planned closure" at a given date in the past. (Helpfull to forsee road closures of annual upcoming events)

13. Correction

    In Brazil, using English directions, many highways are designated as "SP-###", which stands for "SãoPaulo". The audio direction is calling out ALL SP highways as "Sulfur mono Phosphide" which is a chemical formula abbreviation S P. Every time an SP hwy is called out, she literally says "sulfur mono phosphide" each time, rather than São Paulo, or simply SP. Needs correction. Very annoying 😑

14. Going home options

    When the app first starts, it always ask if I'm going home. Many times I am, but I say no, only because I do NOT want turn-by-turn instructions for a route I know by heart and drive every day. The app should have the option to only show ETA and maybe suggest a new route for the traffic on my normal route home.

15. Background traffic info collection

    Waze seems to have problems detecting traffic fast enough in zones where it isn't heavily used. In these zones other navigators simply do better in what Waze should be the king.
    A solution might be adding an option to allow Waze collecting anonymous info such as user speed, location and direction even when closed, as a background service, to help increase traffic accuracy.
    This way everybody with Waze installed can contribute to increase traffic accuracy (instead of just those who have the app actually running).
    Since this can be considered a privacy concern for certain people, it could be done so that at the first start the app could ask if the user want to contribute traffic info only when Waze is open or when it is closed too (leaving the possibility to change this behavior every time the user wants to in the Waze option menu).

16. I love WAZE! But...The verbal prompts are too late to turn. It doesn't give you enough warning to turn.

    Verbal prompts are so late that many times we miss the turn. This can be really bad if you're on loops that don't allow you off for many miles! Ask me how I know!!! Please fix this. Otherwise I love this app. But, this one issue has caused me to start using other GPS apps.

17. Access Phone’s Calendar from Apple CarPlay

    At the moment, you can access your iPhone’s calendar from the Waze app on the iPhone. This allows you to select the calendar item from Waze, and then Waze will automatically commence navigation to the address associated with the calendar entry.

    Unfortunately this same feature isn’t available from Waze within Apple CarPlay.

    This feature enhancement request is to request the same calendar access ability from Waze in the iPhone app is made available on the Waze Apple CarPlay app,

    That way, you can get in your car, and from Apple CarPlay Waze, select the calendar entry appointment you are driving to, and Waze will automatically start navigating to that appointment destination.

19. Record a reminder for the end of The ride before starting it

    Record a reminder/note for myself before starting the ride and hear it when I end it, for example:
    - Remind me to take the bag from the trunk.
    - Remind me to empty the trash can.
    - Remind me to fold the side mirrors.

20. Animate rotary (traffic circle or roundabout) junctions

    Animate the car icon when travelling around rotary junctions. Please.
    At present the map swings around when travelling around a rotary junction. It can be easy to miss an exit when using rotary junctions with many exits. The moving map, as it swings around can cause confusion when to exit.
    Other vendors have overcome this issue by keeping the map orientation fixed to the direction of travel across the rotary junction and instead animating the car icon moving around the rotary junction on the map. This makes it very easy to see when your exit is nearby.
