1. Sharing phone accelerometer data as an early warning to slow

   Imagine being able to see around corners to know that someone has just braked really hard up ahead
   or swerved lanes? Waze could collect acceleration data and use it as an early warning to cars behind.

   The DriveScore app uses the same phone accelerometer data to provide personal driving style feedback to the owner. But wouldn't it be so much better to share it with the cars nearby?

   As an example, if every driver in lane 3 of a motorway is slowing, changing lanes then speeding up again at the same static location, there will likely be a common cause for the acceleration changes, such as a stranded vehicle, accident or other obstruction. This was the case for me at Christmas when on a tight bend connecting 2 motorways I came across at accident in lane 2 and had to swerve to avoid it, as did everyone behind me. If only my phone could have warned those behind.

   Even in good traffic, by combining the same detailed GPS and accelerometer data from multiple cars, Waze would be able to identify common patterns in speed and acceleration, such as vehicles changing lanes at the same a relative point along a motorway which would indicate that there is a slow moving vehicle ahead.

2. Suite of Tolls features (toll plazas location, toll prices, total costs per ride, etc)

   English: The idea would be to have a bunch of tolls features that would be highly useful in different manners. All of them would be managed/contributed by the users themselves, something very similar to what we already have regarding Gas Stations:

   • Locations of Tolls Plazas, with notification when getting closer to it and informing the updated value based on the vehicle type the user configures;
   • Option to add, update or delete tolls plazas location and prices based on vehicle type;
   • Total amount of costs to be spent in the Routes Summary - it'd help the user decide if the toll route is worth compared to the other toll-free route (much easier to implement compared to other Toll x Toll-free Routes ideas)
   • Other features would become available much easily once we have datas about toll plazas locations and prices...

   I suggest that all the reporting options should appear as large icons instead of text. In fact it should take up the whole page. It is much easier to quickly press a regularly used reporting feature than to go through a few steps for the same kind of report.

   Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

4. Finer control of what hazards display on the map.

   This request seeks to add a finer control of which type of things appear on the map. I don't need to see construction crews, or weather hazards, or missing signs. I only need to see road debris, stopped vehicles, roadside assistance requests, and police. But currently, the options don't give you the choice of specific things you would like to see.

8. Specific reporting should not be exclusive to voice reports

   I and many others refuse to use voice assistants. I personally find it much more distracting/focus breaking. It's a personal choice.

   If some people wish for simpler ux, that is fine, however the option to coherently and fully report animals, a vehicle stopped on the ROAD, etc etc, must be available to all users. If there is a dormant "enable classic reports" switch, please enable it, alongside map chat and comments, which is at this point unusable anyways. The feature is (was) especially useful for the shotgun passenger.

9. Voice option

   I would like to offer you an efficiency suggestion:
   By requesting a driver response to your message about a vehicle stuck on the side of the road, you are causing a driving hazard by requiring the driver to look away and take his hand off the steering wheel to press the appropriate tab. This is extremely dangerous when driving at high speed.
   Instead, I suggest that you enable the feedback to be given to the voice option:

I wear glasses but do not require them when i drive but find it difficult to see the annotated speed on your map. Of the voice over were to say the speed limit this would be amazing. 11. Urgent Proposal: Integrate E-Bike and Scooter Riders into the Waze Map for Driver and Rider Safety

    The Immediate Safety Need
    I am urgently requesting that you integrate electric bicycle and scooter riders into the Waze traffic map. I believe the primary need is not just navigation for the riders themselves, but to increase the visibility of these vehicles in the eyes of the car drivers who use the application.
    I see that Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs) – e-scooters and e-bikes – have become an integral part of urban and intercity traffic. They travel on the edge of roads, in bus lanes, and on bike paths close to driving lanes, and they pose a significant risk for accidents, mainly because drivers are often completely unaware of their immediate presence.
    The Proposed Solution: Add a "Rider Mode" for Reporting
    I propose developing a new "Rider Mode" under 'Vehicle Type,' which would serve two main purposes:
    1. Visibility and Alerts for Drivers (The Safety Aspect):
    Active Presence Marking: A rider who selects this mode would be marked as an "active Waze user" on the map, similar to a car or motorcycle, but with a unique icon (e.g., a helmet or a scooter).
    Automatic Safety Alerts: Waze could warn car drivers who are approaching a rider or a group of riders from behind. The alert could be audible ("Caution: Cyclist ahead") or visual on the screen.
    Hazardous Areas: Warnings could be issued to drivers in advance of areas prone to riding (e.g., a road section without a dedicated bike lane, or a popular riding zone).
    2. Specific Reporting for Riders (The Community Aspect):
    Reporting Road Hazards: Giving riders the option to report specific dangers that threaten them and low-profile vehicles (such as potholes, obstacles in the bike lane, or a blocking car). These reports would also benefit other drivers.
    Mutual Safety Cooperation: Riders could report the presence of police/inspectors focusing on LEVs, thereby creating a reciprocal safety community (as Waze currently does for cars).
    The Unique Advantage of Waze
    Other navigation apps offer cycling routes, but Waze is the only application used by millions of drivers on the roads worldwide. I believe the solution to the LEV safety problem lies in Waze's unique ability to connect heavy vehicle users (cars) with light vehicle users (e-bikes/scooters) on the same platform.
    I am confident that adding this feature will not only improve rider safety but will also help drivers be more focused, reduce the element of surprise, and ultimately save lives and reduce the number of traffic accidents.
    I urge the Waze development team to prioritize the immediate addition of this critical safety feature.

12. Allow users to disable the Roadshield.

    Many users utilize Waze in split-screen mode with other apps, and the roadshield does not optimize with the size of the map. This means that at critical moments (upcoming turns, arriving at your destination, etc) the roadshield covers your map and vehicle, completely obscuring the information. The only option for this is to reduce Waze to 1/4th of the screen to move the roadshield to the left of the screen, which makes Waze virtually useless.

    Please allow users to disable / modify the roadshield.

    Hi Waze, I am Ritthik a 10 years old primary school student from Malaysia. I have noted waze users give "feedback" updates (example: an accident, so on), but, why we do not consider "FeedForward" method?

    Let me explain "feedforward", i have seen in numerous occasions that we need to give our way to priority vehicles, example, Ambulance, Fire truck, Police, and many more. But, no users give this to the vehicles in front and we may not realizing that there is a priority vehicle approaching us - this could save lives, prompt action and simply we could do a better "alert" than plotting a cop ahead of us.

    I have shared my idea for a project for my school and I would like to seek your help and assistance on this.

    If this is what we could make it better and enhance our maps - we will be delighted as well we can work with you to make this happen and we could complete our project for the school as well (with my friends).

    We appreciate all you courtesy and support to make our world a better place to live with harmony and joy - with care and support.

    Just as you have Jennifer Hudson voice you should have Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Billie Eilish, post malone, just a few I think that I wouldn't mind riding to and some diffrent vehicles also a minimized popup screen like Google would be great as well it's just a few things would make me totally leave Google plus a direction to where the arrived destination is it just leaves you in the middle of the street to look for which side the property is on.

15. Improve stability.

    Waze app stability with Apple CarPlay needs improvement I have used it for years, but glitches are frustrating.
    If a get a phone call while using it, it disables the radio, and I have to reset the source after hanging up.
    The customized car icon turns into a blue dot, which remains stationary despite actual movement of my vehicle.
    I am Ray Iglesias (Username CaptProvolone56 and have 169,027 points. I started using Google maps a few days ago, which runs smoothly.
    I like the Waze app, but not at the above price.

    For those of us who have Android Auto in our cars, when we encounter a speed camera, Waze informs us via text on the vehicle's central display. If we're traveling at 80 km/h and have to look at the display for a second, the vehicle travels more than 20 meters. That distance is enough to cause an accident, which wouldn't happen if the warning were audible.
    Do you think this is reason enough to incorporate it into the app? I think you should consider it and add it. Many users of your app would be very grateful.

    I love the horizontal view and want to see the map more. Currently, the footer bar is too large occupying 80% of center of screen, it would be nice to be shorten and move to the left (or right) of the screen - for example, like the google map.

18. Audible warning needed for dangerous intersection

    I live in the small town of Paris. Tennessee. We have an unusual intersection that travelers to the area are not used to. It's a T section (Hwy 79) at which drivers must make a left or right turn. Lately several drivers have attempted to drive straight through. They have hit the brick wall that is there. The property there is elevated. It belongs to a restaurant. The owners have repaired and repainted the wall a few times, but it continues to get hit causing severe injuries and vehicle damage. My suggestion is that an audible warning be put on this system warning drivers of this dangerous intersection as they come into the area. More signs have been put up since two times ago that the wall was hit. I think the audible warning on GPS would help this problem if not fix it entirely.

19. Reducing the number of wrong route choices in Waze search

    waze needs to add an option checkbox in case the rider encounters the wrong route choice while traveling the route indicated by the Waze search. Waze can determine the wrong route for removal. Deletion based on a large percentage of the number of checkboxes ticked by the rider.

20. Predictive Speed Regulation to Prevent Phantom Traffic Jams

    Feature: Predictive Speed Regulation to Prevent Phantom Traffic Jams

    Problem:

    When one vehicle hard-brakes on a highway, it creates a backward-traveling shockwave. Due to human reaction times, vehicles behind brake even harder — causing a dead-stop jam with no actual obstruction. These "phantom jams" cause thousands of rear-end collisions yearly.

    Proposed Solution:

    Waze already collects real-time GPS telemetry from millions of drivers. If the system detects a sudden velocity drop, it could instantly push a "Reduce speed to 60 km/h" advisory to drivers further back — absorbing the shockwave before it cascades.

    I Built a Working Simulation:

    I've created an open-source Python simulation using the Intelligent Driver Model (IDM) physics that proves this works:

    • Without intervention: 11/15 vehicles reach dead stop

    • With V2Cloud warning: Zero vehicles stopped, shockwave fully absorbed

    • Effectiveness drops sharply above 1.5s latency — Waze's existing infrastructure is fast enough

    No new hardware required. No V2V sensors. Just an algorithm upgrade to Waze's existing real-time traffic engine.
