1. Waze to issue Alerts when using CarPlay split screen

   According to Waze support, when using Carplay split-screen (where Waze splits screen with other app like music), Waze won't issue traffic Alerts by design!! That's true, I have confirmed it. As soon as Waze returns to "full screen", it resumes issuing traffic alerts (danger, weather, radar, etc).
   Split-screen is a quite usefull feature of Car-Play as it simplifies greatly audio/music control on the road, without the issue of messing with several buttons.
   Although in split-screen mode the screen area that Waze has to show information is reduced, there is no reason why Waze could not keep issuing the alerts by sound "danger ahead"" or by means of smaller icons.

2. Barra ETA com problema no Apple CarPlay

   Problema com a barra de ETA no Apple CarPlay

   Prezados,

   Gostaria de relatar um problema recorrente na interface do Waze para Apple CarPlay, relacionado à barra de ETA (horário estimado de chegada, tempo restante e distância até o destino).

   Mantenho o aplicativo configurado no modo automático e meu veículo possui sensor crepuscular, portanto o tema do mapa alterna corretamente entre claro e escuro conforme a luminosidade ambiente.

   O que ocorre é o seguinte:
   • Quando inicio a navegação durante o dia, o mapa fica claro (como esperado), mas ao passar por locais escuros (túneis, estacionamentos, sombras etc.), o mapa muda para o modo escuro, porém a barra de ETA permanece clara.
   • Já quando inicio a navegação à noite (ou em ambiente escuro), a barra de ETA aparece escura, mas ao sair para locais iluminados, o mapa clareia e a barra de ETA continua escura, sem se ajustar automaticamente.

   Ou seja, a barra de ETA não acompanha a transição automática de tema como acontece no Google Maps, onde a barra muda de cor conforme o mapa — clara quando o mapa está claro, escura quando o mapa está escuro.

   Sugiro como solução uniformizar o comportamento da barra de ETA, para que ela acompanhe o tema ativo do mapa, ou simplesmente mantê-la escura de forma permanente, garantindo uma melhor visibilidade e harmonia visual.

   Ressalto que esse comportamento não é específico do meu veículo — já testei em outros carros com Apple CarPlay e o problema se repete, o que indica tratar-se de uma inconsistência do próprio aplicativo.

3. Carplay - ability to pause or stop direction notifications

   Waze repeatedly displays notifications when the Carplay display is set to another app. The way they continually pop up interferes with operation of anything else in the Carplay UI

   Ex.: I'm sitting at a light where Waze indicates a left turn. While I wait on the light I go to Spotify to queue up a different album. While doing this Waze will repeatedly interrupt by displaying "left turn 0 feet" or similar notifications with no way to stop them.

4. CarPlay synergy

   When paired with a car play device the speed cameras on the map (especially on motorways) should be displayed similarly to the mobile version (with the blue circle) showing you exactly where the camera is located.

5. CarPlay + Waze / Cluster Turn-by-turn not showing like it does on Android Auto

   When using Waze with CarPlay on a vehicle with turn by turn display on cluster, the Waze don't show any direction, while Android Auto display a full direction.

   The car in question is a 2024 GWM Ora 03, but the same happens on a 2023 BMW 320i.

   Also, I don't know if this specific Cluster/CarPlay API is available for other apps, but this only works using Apple Maps. Waze or Google Maps doesn't show any direction on the cluster while using Apple car Play.

6. Showing family members car on carplay while driving

   For example we drive to another city with two or more cars, i can add their profile, then on my carplay screen i can see if they’re behind me ( in meters or kilometers) or infront of me, so i won’t be worried about them being lost in the way.

7. Make Map Chats readable on Android Auto and CarPlay

   Map Chats often contain useful information on lane closures or other hazards, but while their icons show up on the car's nav screen when using CarPlay or Android Auto, they can't be tapped on or read.

   It is far more hazardous for me to unplug my phone, open the Waze app, and read the Map Chat than it would be to simply glance at my dash nav and tap the chat - you could even have the phone's TTS read it out while displaying it, then give the option to give it a thumbs-up.

10. 2 major bugs affecting Carplay

    For many months now Waze has had 2 infuriating bugs in Carplay

    1) Stops dynamically rerouting if I try to check alternative routes. To get it to return to normal I have to close the alternative routes screen on my car's infotainment screen (OK, that's normal), but then I also need to pick up and unlock my phone so I can close the alternative routes display on the phone as well. Until I do that, Waze gets stuck following the highlighted route and stops rerouting if I deviate from the highlighted route. It took me MONTHS to figure out what was stopping it from re-routing.

    2) Aspects of the phone screen are in day mode even though it's configured to be permanent night mode. The only way to resolve this is to select day mode in the settings menu, then select night mode again.

    Both bugs are 100% reproducible every time.

11. Prevent Constant Navigation pop-up while using other CarPlay apps.

    I drive a Mazda CX-5 and whilst the car is in motion the CarPlay touchscreen is disabled and I interact with the interface using a wheel and buttons to move the focus and activate controls.

    When using Waze to navigate and switching to music or Spotify or another app Waze will pop up notifications for alerts or upcoming navigation events.

    When forced to use the wheel to control the interface this pop up is extremely annoying and interferes with controlling the CarPlay interface. It is so intrusive that I will be navigating songs etc and when I click to activate a song or app feature, the Waze pop up has reappeared and instead of clicking the item I want it takes me back to Waze. Other navigation apps like Apple Maps show the pop up but when I move the wheel the pop up goes away and doesn’t come back allowing me to interact with the other app as normal. Waze keeps bringing the pop up back constantly resulting in making use of the other app nearly impossible.

    This small issue caused me so much grief that I found using Waze to navigate made me angry while driving so I stopped using Waze for over 6 months. When I tried Waze again after this time it made me realise that I had been calm while driving and when I used Waze I immediately became an angry driver.

    Please recognise when a user has dismissed the pop up by moving focus and stop this pop up from constantly reoccurring and preventing normal interaction with other apps as I do not wish to share the road with Waze angry drivers for such a small but infuriating interface issue.

13. Be able to actively switch Toll roads on or off in Apple CarPlay app.

    Hi,

    Like Google Maps in Australia, within Apple CarPlay, you are able to navigate to a settings page, where you can turn on or off a host of functions.

    One of which, is a toggle to avoid Toll Roads.

    This feature would be very handy, as its the only thing stopping me from using the application as my main map system.

14. Need A View Shared Drive Option While Using CarPlay

    The green-ish “View Shared Drive” button that normally appears on the right side of the screen does not appear while connected to Apple CarPlay. Currently, the only way to view a drive that has been shared with you is to disconnect from CarPlay, which is very frustrating. I am on a road trip with family in which we are driving two separate vehicles, and it would be very useful to be able to view a shared drive on my CarPlay screen to see where the rest of the family is and what their ETA is.

    And while we’re at it, can we bring back the old “trip progress meter” that showed your progress and ETA versus a friend’s if you were both navigating to the same location and shared the drive with each other? That was one of the coolest and best Waze features of all time, so I’m not sure why it was taken away.

15. CarPlay UI Improvements

    1st Make the Confirmation / Not there road notification buttons to be in opposite screen location and not right on top of the other to avoid “fat fingers” (common on bumpy roads with touchscreen interfaces).

18. Fix bugs in Waze/Carplay interface

    Hello Waze! Love your app but can't use it on CarPlay due to some technical issues. In my car Waze comes up very loud and seems impervious to the volume controls on my steering wheel, but when I persist, it stops talking to me all together which is not a good thing when you're in the middle of a Drive into a complicated traffic situation. Please fix this issue so I can start using and enjoying ways again. Unfortunately now I am using Google maps which I don't like nearly as much, but at least it allows me to turn off the voice or to adjust the volume . 19. Change Waze user interface on CarPlay (with or without Touch screen) to DEFAULT cursor position is ‘Report’.

    I have no Touchscreen on CarPlay, controls therefore are scroll buttons on steering wheel. Whenever I’m driving it take several (4 typically) button presses just to toggle the ‘report’ button (like if there is a car on side of road). I’m recommending that the CarPlay cursor defaults to this button so user just presses ONE click to file a report, confirm a warning or whatever - much safer (eyes on road) and more likely to use as it’s a pain & by the time you reach the selected report button on screen, hazard is past / behind you.
