2. Optimization Proposal for Waze – Integration of Support for Buses and Trucks

   To enhance user experience and expand the app’s target audience, it is recommended to add dedicated support for heavy and public vehicles such as buses and trucks. This feature would include the following components:

   1. Customized Driver Profiles – An option to select the type of vehicle: truck, bus, private car, motorcycle, etc.

   2. Tailored Route Planning – Routes would consider height and weight restrictions, specific traffic signs (e.g., "No entry for trucks"), and restricted access zones.

   3. Integration of Dedicated Lanes – For buses: display of bus-only lanes (such as BRT or HOV lanes) and incorporate their availability into route planning.

3. RED ROUTE INDICATED IN MAP VIEW

   An added feature could be to include Red routes, when my phone rings, I often pull over when safe to do so, sometimes its not obvious that the car is on a red route so stopping is prohibited, it be good to look and check my Waze to see may be a thin red line on the map that indicates a red route,
   I came off a red route onto a round about and joined another road it was not obvious to me that the road I joined which has many parked up lorries overnight had become a red route, I also find it hard to see the Red lines when snow covers them or there in a puddle of water and have previously inadvertently stopped, the road has been clear of traffic but the CCTV traps mail me the fine NOT GOOD can you help by improving map details?

   Waze is a great addition to Google but not so the other way round.....google map still is far more superior in terms of features... i.e how impossibly difficult or your overpaid imagination does it take to realized the importance and usefulness of an option displaying all our favorite places at one glance on the map like that in google map?....so now most will need to jungle in and out of two different map apps and let the pedestrians fend for themselves....and nO unlike most of your silicon minimum wages my corolla do not have autopilot like most of your coalpowered green cars.......what about being able to random pin drop with custom labels on a random spot with a simple hold and type??......tho im not saying one should but most wazers are active driving while multitasking a million things so even an additional click will most likely distract their eyes off the road for at least one second.....does anyone know how many feet can a car travel within the legal speed limit? Im sure i can run over at least 5 dogs😤

   When a customer on the road, had a problem with the transportation, can provide immediate help.
   How:
   If any customer on the move and unexpected stop for more than 1 or 2 min on any road side (not in any parking lot, …), we can ask them, if they need any help like “Car Problem? Need a help with?”
   Choices can be “Need a Ride” “Inform Police/Medical” (optional)
   “Vehicle Problem” (another option to expand the business with AAA or local services)
   This can be added a default service and choice should be given to customer not to, under notifications.
   Advantages:
   1. When Customers are in need, we can help
   2. Will give customers a boost in confidence using the app and in our company
   3. New monitory benefit with organic growth
   How it will help the Customers:
   How much Profitable:
   May be profitable with a small monitory (due to tie with Uber or Lyft) but huge with gain customer satisfaction.
   It’s a WIN-WIN for the company with Customers and Partners.

6. This is a dangerous rubbish!

   At the first try warning 3 times for nothing - for example a parking truck on a sideroad was an "issue" - and estimated heavy traffic on the way. Luckily I follow google app and there was practically nothing on the road! Idiot crap application so far! Advise for developing? Give up and close this app, here no more misleadings and unnecessary warning stress - and go to learn how a proper navigation app must have to operate. You are ever feel any kind of resposibility about your faulty programming??? Im not a google fan, but the matter of fact, they can put together a working navigation system. For advertisement money you are gambling with users simply asking them to "report" -this is a direct danger for the drivers to look aside from the road while feeding you with infos! And the roadmap are primitive, colouring many times wrong. When you drive, for safety reason NOT acceptable that a navigation screen need a long and frequent attention to check just because the program changing the road colours and appearance with stupid warning signals so frequently. Idiots!

7. Correction: Location of 680 Piper Street in Collierville, TN

   Waze directed me to the wrong location for this address, which is a self-storage facility. It was formerly owned by the Piper family and was named Piper Self Storage. The company changed hands 1.5 years ago. The 680 Piper Street is the correct address, but it is NOT located south of the railroad tracks in Collierville. The correct directions would have been: In Collierville, TN, take Byhalia Road North until reaching Hwy. 57 (Poplar Ave.), turn right - go Eastbound approx. a block to the intersection of Hwy. 57 and Hwy. 72. Turn right slightly. Piper Street has no sign but is located at that interchange. The 'street' blends in with the gas station's pavement (on that corner). Turn onto the parking lot and you will locate the Piper Storage large sign straight ahead at the business. (This storage unit company is 'tucked away'. I was late for my first day of work because of this Waze error. Since we are in the 'moving' and 'storage' business, interested parties need very specific directions in order to find this facility with ease.)

8. Incorrect Route

   Please stop directing people off Highway 80 Eastbound onto Chiles (frontage) Road and other surface roads at Davis CA. Highway 80 necks down from 5 lanes at UC Davis to 3 lanes across the Yolo Causeway. People are not getting onto the causeway any faster because of your direction. What is happening is that entire neighborhoods are blocked in. Emergency vehicles have no access as the surface roads are backed up to Highway 113 and even further. People are "parked" in intersections, blocking them. When Davis Legacy Soccer is holding a tournament off Chiles, people are blocked into the soccer fields because the frontage road is gridlocked for hours. Your customers (and the locals) are torqued off and there is a lot of honking, cussing, and bad driving. People are not getting onto the causeway any faster than if they stayed on Highway 80. The problem is that the freeway is at capacity as the lanes are reduced at UC Davis and because (evidently) at certain times everyone in San Francisco is heading for Tahoe and everyone in Sacramento is heading for the Bay Area.

9. Lift/Swing Bridges

   Hamilton/Burlington Ontario, & Niagara Peninsula

   We have two roads that pass traffic from Burlington to Hamilton that do not force traffic to be route around the Hamilton Harbour. These roads travel on a isthmus with a water route to pass ships from Lake Ontario into Hamilton Harbour.

   The QEW has a high level bridge that goes up and over this waterway

   Eastport Drive and Lakeshore Road, come together to cross over the waterway via a lift bridge. This lift bridge could be up for 20+ minutes to pass ship traffic in and out of Hamilton Harbour

   This is a real headache if you don't know it is up.

   In the Niagara Peninsula we have the Welland Canal running between lake Ontario and Lake Erie. There are four lift/swing bridges crossing this canal.

   We need to have a trigger that any wazer can trigger to let us know the bridge is open, and a similar trigger for any wazer to report it no longer open.

   I can understand that is a no priority option to 99% of the wazers, but to the 1 % it is very important to allow them to select a an alternate route. Once you arrive at the bridge you are now stuck in a line of traffic

   I would consider this much more important than reporting a car parked off the side of the road

10. Dimming Radio Audio

    I've recently started using Waze especially since installing an Android Auto Headunit on my car. Enjoyed using it over Google maps for the more accurate GPS positioning it has but one big gripe I have using Waze is, I personally use voice navigation on my device due to the fact that my display is setup at the bottom of the car dashboard.

    I always have to look down to see my routes otherwise for turns and exits, hence I rely heavily on voice navigation for cues on when to check my map. Issue I am having is that I also listen to the stock Radio while driving.

    Waze dims my radio audio to something similar to 90% down of the volume. Especially when I am listening to the radio stations or the host. Routes in the suburbs or near the city have alot of turns. Making it very difficult to listen to the radio when it is constantly being dim for the Waze voice navigation.

    I know there is an option to dim the Waze voice navigator but that is not what I am looking for. I want to ability to maintain my radio volume with Waze voice navigation.

    Another complaint, Waze will not let me use the app when connected to android auto even when my car is parked and stationary. I need to disable android auto so that I can tweak Waze's voice navigation volume on the app.

11. Add warnings for PCN camera traps (mainly London)

    Like speed cameras, add PCN cameras (Moving Traffic Cameras) to Waze warnings please!!

    Over lockdown there've been several strange changes made to how traffic is allowed to use certain roads in London.
    Camera traps have sprung up all over the place to catch people out. These cameras give fines for using roads in ways which used to be totally acceptable before lockdown. Issuing £65+ fines for using a roads in what is suddenly the wrong direction, end to enter certain roads from, time of day, parking and so on.

    None of these changes in these roads use have anything to do with public safety they're just out to make money.
    I've been caught twice in the space of 2 weeks using roads which were always free, non restrictive, access a year ago. The signage is there but it's hard to break habits of a lifetime and from speaking to several Uber drivers who are on London's roads every day for a living I know the increase in these cameras in highly unusual places has had a massive impact on their income. They don't get paid a lot really and they don't get any kind of reduced fine just because they're drivers for a living.

    I think Waze would see an even bigger uptake in popularity if these camera traps were highlighted on their maps.

    Two examples are 'Manor Place Junction Braganza Street' in Southwark and 'Binfield Road' in Lambeth.

12. ETA Bar Issue on Apple CarPlay

    Dear Waze Team,

    I would like to report a recurring issue with the Waze interface on Apple CarPlay, related to the ETA bar (estimated time of arrival, remaining time, and distance to destination).

    I keep the app set to automatic mode, and my vehicle has a light sensor, so the map theme correctly switches between light and dark according to ambient brightness.

    Here’s what happens:
    • When I start navigation during the day, the map is light (as expected), but when driving through darker areas (tunnels, parking lots, shaded roads, etc.), the map switches to dark mode while the ETA bar remains light.
    • When I start navigation at night (or in a dark environment), the ETA bar appears dark, but when I move into a bright area, the map becomes light while the ETA bar stays dark, without adjusting automatically.

    In other words, the ETA bar does not follow the automatic theme transition as it does in Google Maps, where the bar color changes in sync with the map — light when the map is light, and dark when the map is dark.

    I suggest standardizing the ETA bar behavior so that it follows the map’s active theme, or alternatively, keeping the bar permanently dark to ensure better visibility and visual consistency.

    Please note that this behavior is not specific to my vehicle — I have tested it in other cars with Apple CarPlay, and the issue persists, indicating it is an app-level inconsistency.

13. Point of Interest - Waze vs "the rest"

    At the moment, search results feel like the wild wild west where it is hit or miss you get the right information, sometimes with a minefield of extra hits where they sometimes give you bad or misleading navigation.

    Whilst search entries have a couple slightly different blips (one with a hollow circle and one with a solid circle) these are meaningless to users and can't be used in descriptions to users who have bad navigations.

    The search entries are also frequently "duplicated", and each having their own set of data.

    As a working example, Kingsawy Centre in Newport, Gwent has two results, one with the street name Emlyn Street, one without. The one with displays a near empty placeholder (full address, phone number and details of wheelchair accessibility) appears to match the information on Google. The second one has partial address, no phone number but has photos and nearby parking. This appears to be the Waze POI. The last update was 07 June, 2023 and includes an external provider link to Google.

    This suggestion is to ensure that Waze results surface to the top. The blip should resemble Waze (eg. a W or the waze logo). If it's an external provider, indicate as such, with an icon resembling the source (eg. G for Google). If there's an external provider, to ensure the "full" details of that external provider is included in the one search result, and not broken into two, this can have both W and G icons if appropriate.

    At the moment, search results feel like the wild wild west where it is hit or miss you get the right information, sometimes with a minefield of extra hits where they sometimes give you bad or misleading navigation.

    Whilst search entries have a couple slightly different blips (one with a hollow circle and one with a solid circle) these are meaningless to users and can't be used in descriptions to users who have bad navigations.

    The search entries are also frequently "duplicated", and each having their own set of data.

14. Motorcycle-Friendly Long Trip Rest Recommendations

    On long trips using motorcycle navigation mode, Waze should recommend rest stops every 1 hour or 120 km (whichever comes first). These stops could include nearby gas stations, rest areas, scenic points, or safe parking spots, helping riders stay alert, hydrated, and safe.

    Why This Feature Matters

    Safety First: Long rides on a motorcycle are physically demanding. Fatigue increases the risk of accidents. Timely rest breaks help reduce this danger.
    
    Health & Comfort: Regular stops reduce back strain, dehydration, and numbness. It promotes better focus for the rest of the ride.
    
    Route Planning: Knowing where to stop in advance, especially for fuel or refreshments, helps riders plan more confidently and avoid remote areas without services.
    
    Motorcycle-Specific Behavior: Unlike cars, motorcycles don’t have air conditioning, storage, or in-seat comfort, making frequent stops more essential.
    

    How It Could Work

    Enable this as a toggle under Motorcycle Mode Settings.
    
    When a trip is longer than 100 km or expected to last more than 1 hour:
    
        Waze prompts: “Would you like rest stop suggestions every 60 minutes or 120 km?”
    
    The app displays:
    
        Nearby gas stations
    
        Scenic or shaded rest areas
    
        Places with bathrooms or refreshments
    
        Possibly a reminder notification: “You’ve been riding for 1 hour — here’s a good spot to rest.”
    

    Optional Features

    Customize intervals (e.g., every 45 min, 90 min, or 100 km).
    
    Allow user-rated rest spots for motorcycle-friendly services.
    
    Incorporate weather data (heat, rain) to suggest even more frequent breaks.
    

    End Goal

    Make long motorcycle rides safer, more enjoyable, and less fatiguing by incorporating practical rest planning right into the route guidance experience.

    Hi, my name is Nirit and I have 2 suggestions for you:

    Offer 1# - a feature that allows a faster route to the destination
    I want to reach my destination, but it is not always important for me to reach exactly the specific number on the specific side of the street.

    That is, I don't mind walking a few meters and parking on the side opposite the destination, or near the destination further down the street - especially when the other side or a few meters nearby will save me time and allow me a faster route, for example less congested to the destination.

    I imagine such an option will be reflected in a button or even a slide that allows me to choose how far from the destination I am willing to stop, perhaps even according to the estimated timing and the time I can save.

    In any case, knowing that I saved myself a few seconds or minutes is so relevant to a user in a hurry, who may miss his turn or arrive late to an important meeting... Sometimes I find myself saying to myself: "If only I had arrived one second earlier..."

    Offer 2# - Competition
    Who hasn't, who drove with Waze's route proposal and wanted to listen to his gut, to his intuition, maybe even get smarter and show Waze that he was wrong and here I have an even better, faster route, even if it's faster by one second..

    This game against Waze against an application that is uploaded with the help of algorithms and computer calculations can be saturated with passion, or a good reason to enjoy another boring drive. A game that gives me the ride, maybe also, while worrying about taking a risk - a risk that allows me, maybe, to beat Waze (the greatest of them all) - and even challenge it!

    From here before driving, the app asks me if I want to play. If I decided to play, each game entitles me as a user of points... You can also compete with the best like me, other users, etc. And here in the field of gaming... the sky is the limit!

16. Startup sequence is misarranged; initial direction; use accelerometer; easier access to 2d map

    I'll describe the problem by describing my experience. Often I'm in a hurry to get directions and go. I start Waze and there's a relatively long wait (4 sec) for the splash screen to pass--understandable, but still a minor annoyance. Then I just want to get to Navigate so I can get my route. But Waze is busy drawing the map for 2-3 sec, which I don't need to see right now. At last I get to Navigate. I select my destination from my favorites and the machine starts route-searching.

    Only at this point does Waze decide to display a popup asking me if such-and-such is my destination. To the app's credit, this destination is usually where I am going: but at this point it's useless and just a nuisance.

    (Yes, these are developed-world problems.)

    I have an iPhone4, so my machine is slower than the latest model. But still it's a pretty common iPhone, so I know others share this experience.

    While I'm here, I'd also like to ask a couple more things.

    1. Could you make use of the phone's accelerometer? Often times I take a sharp curve right before parking in a driveway. Waze has no notion what direction the car is pointing, so when I start it back up, it draws the map facing some random direction, making it difficult for me to figure out which way I have to go initially.

    2. Is there any way that you could make it easier to switch between the 3d and 2d views? This would help with the initial-direction problem. It would also make it easier to use my own human knowledge of the roads to decide which way I want to go. As it is, Waze is too much like a master and not enough like an assistant.

    3. Make it easier to work with favorites. Allow import of favorites from XML. Have a default title for locations found in search that you want to add to favorites. (Your search btw stinks--first sign of this is that you use Bing, which reeks, to supplement it. When I can find in Waze, I naturally turn to Google Maps.)

    Is there any way to shut off the alert, "Watch out!, vehicle parked on shoulder ahead"? Or at least mute the audio portion? It is quite loud and annoying!
