2. Externalize performance parameters as configuration.

   Living in a tropical country, driving with my phone under the windshield of my car, for an hour or so, at 35°C, my phone gets so hot it could burn a hole through my pocket. (My phone is a Motorola RAZR i)
   I think Waze has a high demand for memory and processing power, to be as responsive as it is.

   I am guessing that Waze has a lot of automatic tasks that run "every x seconds" to update the road reports, ETA, friends list, reports for you to thumbs up and so on.

   I think Waze could make that more configurable:
   - Turn ON/OFF friends list.
   - Set ETA calculation interval [1] second.
   - Set reports refresh interval [1] second.
   - ...

   This way, people could have a "minimal" Waze version to get by on hot environments, and a full feature version when they turn on their car's AC. =)

3. Allow the ability to specify the location of a report.

   When reporting an issue, crash, traffic jam, fire, Police activity, the system only gives you the option to report on the road you are on. So for example, if you are at an interchange where you can see the activity on a highway or interstate, but you are not on that road, you can't actually report it properly. Maybe it can be set up that you make a report, and like in google maps, you have a pin dropped on the map that you can move to the correct location, if where you are is not the location of the activity. Example: look at Cromwell Park Drive, Glen Burnie, MD on google maps. You will see that there is an interchange where I-97 passes by. You can see the activity on the highway, even if you are not on it.

5. Client Suggestion: Voice Recognition

   I was driving from Las Vegas, NV to Fullerton, CA this past weekend. During the trip, I had a few hours to think of what client upgrades could be implemented into WAZE. Specifically, as the title of this thread suggests, I thought about Voice Recognition. This came about as I sent a report, but was unable to type a comment, thanks to texting and driving dangers.

   Here is what I was thinking:
   Voice Recognition would always be active while WAZE is active. Instead of pushing a button to activate Waze, what if a keyword was programmed to start the functionality. In this Example, the keyword is “WAZE.” Whenever the driver says this keyword, WAZE listens for the next word that is associated with the program. In the situation below, this is what it would be like to report a Police Trap.

   In the simplest form:
   “WAZE, Report, Police, Send.”

   With Comment:
   “WAZE, Report, Police, Comment, Hiding behind the tree, Send.”

   Of course, after Report, this could be done with any of the report descriptions in the list. Consider also "Drive To" could be implemented into the system.

6. Customise routes according to specific vehicles

   Vehicles such as the Citroën Ami, Fiat Topolino or Opel Rocks cannot drive on all city roads because of their low power and the speed limits imposed (45 km/h).
   In Rome, for example, you can't drive on a very important road called the 'Tangenziale', or the motorway. This means that using Waze is not an option, as it often sends you to these roads, which are off-limits to small cars.
   It would be better if these small vehicles could have other routes so they don't risk getting fined or worse.

7. Improve display for alternate routs

   When alternate routs are displayed, the route description is displayed in small, grey, hard to read font. A larger and darker font would help.
   This option of alternate routs is useful during drive to conclude if a suggested "exotic" route really save significant time.

8. Allow to add speed cameras directly in the map editor and/or change their type (speed/light)

   Currently you cannot add a speed camera without reporting it on the spot with your app and then go approve it in the map editor.. This slows down the process if you are in the editor and see a camera is missing and don't want to drive there to add it.
   Changing the type of existing ones could help correct mistakes when people report a wrong type of camera.

9. Geotagged event triggers

   Allow the user to define an event such as playing one of your own sounds, display one of your own photos or play a music track at or near specific places. Example uses - get onto a fast stretch of road and your music changes, and changes back when you get into town again. Get a mile from a toll booth and a note appears telling you how much money to have ready. Drive near a grocer and your recording says "don't forget to get the eggs". Go past a tourist attraction and a recording tells you about it. You could even allow advertisers to pop up a note saying "turn left in half a mile for a Big Mac", (and allow users to suppress ads if they wanted to).

10. Holiday lights

    People can nominate and submit pictures of their house decorated with holiday lights (can be Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc). Then when someone uses Waze to drive they can chose to drive a way that takes them through the house holiday lights or take a route just to look at Christmas lights. I think people would love this!

11. Please REMOVE the SPEEDOMETER and Show the posted SPEED LIMIT instead!

    I usually type long long long posts, but the title of this speaks for itself. Just a couple more details below.....

    Nokia had a GPS app called HERE Drive. It showed you what speed you were going and what the posted speed limit of the road was. Very handy.

    The release of Windows 10 has caused the HERE Drive app to be deleted and replaced with Windows Maps. Some of it the same and some different, but everything good was taken away. Windows Maps is horrible, and many people are now looking to choose a new app for navigation.

    Waze has a lot going for it. A big issue is that it doesn't have a satellite map overlay view. I'm sure that they are aware of that and working to fix it.

    What other GPS apps don't have that they should is a display that shows what the posted speed limit of the road being traveled on is. When have you ever seen a speed limit sign when you needed one? How much time have you wasted going below the actual speed limit because you didn't want to get a ticket?

    Waze already has a feature called "Speedometer". When you use Waze, if you have it on it shows you how fast you are moving. That is so stupid. Your car has a speedometer! You don't need the app to tell you your speed, and it isn't even accurate! Maybe joggers or bicyclists find it handy, but the reading of the Waze Speedometer is never the same as the Speedometer of my car. It is a pointless feature.

    Instead Waze should fill the void that HERE Drive for Windows phones ones filled, and provide those searching for a new GPS provider the only feature besides satellite view that they lack. PLEASE Waze, remove the speedometer and replace it with a display that shows what the posted speed limit of the road being traveled is.

    I have to point out that Waze already has a feature that warns you if you are traveling at a speed faster than the posted limit. You can already set it to alert you if you are traveling 3mph over or 15mph over. The Waze app ALREADY KNOWS what the posted speed limit of the road is! They just don't display it on the app!!!!! It would be such an easy update!!!! Help me let Waze know that we want this!

12. Fix sunset dark/night mode toggling multiple times per day

    When driving before sunset, Waze switches from its day to night mode a little bit before sunset...then it switches back to day...then to night...then to day... On my drive tonight (headed west on I-20 toward Shreveport, LA), it toggled back & forth 15-20 times before finally settling in on night mode.

    I recommend adding some hysteresis into the switching that matches/compliments how you calculate the sunset proximity. Once Waze switches to its night display in the evening or it switches to the day display in the morning, it shouldn't switch back (you know, as long as you're on the same drive & not going faster than about 1000mph).

    follow a route with a friend, you will be able to see their avatar, the cart following you, or in front of you, and there is also an add type system, my name is Filipi0y, I saw it there in friends in add and search for and display name, the person who received the request has to accept or ignore. 14. Select safer way by following someone if alternative route is similar time

    Safely travel means to follow others. Like on festivals inside crowds ==> people tend to walk together = crowd pulls you. Basically we should drive in circles. While road has dashed line, we better don't want to meet many cars in opposite direction. This can avoid mamy accidents by front crash. Similar road arrangement can be seen ie. also on some festivals so it is not just a dream!! I prefer to come 10min late than never [+]. Waze should offer this always (on dashed line roads).

17. ETA and arrival notification

    Sharing my ETA with family and friends is wonderful. Can you give those people I share ETA with a notification when I arrive at my location? My mom really likes the real time. When I arrived after midnight she saw I was close before she went to bed, but when she woke up she couldn't tell that I made it safely.

18. Vocal control of everything Waze can do whilst driving.

    You should be able to just speak everything into the app, for everything and anything you might need to do, especially since it is illegal to even touch your mobile phone whilst driving these days.

    Anything that requires 'touch' to operate whilst driving, NEEDS a vocal command equivalent

19. Return Route same as Initial Route

    I had to drive to Greenville, NC from Morehead City. And the route was different than the return home. The return home was actually longer, and took me on a lot of smaller streets and small towns instead of the large streets that was the initial out. This should be critical

20. Share ETA with other wazers

    Allow wazers to update friends on ETA. When starting a new journey, I shall be able to select wazers that can get real time update on my ETA, so they know when to expect me.
